  • Not a bad price but old model. I used to own one and they very slow devices. Pay the extra and buy a brand new model from a store to get the warranty and the latest maps.

  • I bought one last year on promotion for $199. It's a good GPS, a little slow sometimes but has spoken street names and more..

  • Price looks pretty good but pray you never have to deal with their support staff.

    • Hmm…I dealt with their support staff around 2 years ago for a replacement cable for our Mio GPS and they were excellent. I received a new cable without cost even though we were at fault in destroying the old cable ( by accident ).

Times do change, would be interesting in hearing your experience rather than a blanket statement saying the support staff are difficult.

      • Back in about July '08 there was a deal posted here for the Mio C720t from mwave and it offered a map free map upgrade in Oct '08.
By Dec '08 there was still no map upgrade and on calling Mio they said they hoped to have them out in Jan '09.
Finally in Feb '09 the map upgrade arrived.
But it wasnt just a map upgrade, it completely changed the software on the unit. Many of the features that sold the C720t had been removed and if you read the very small print on the back of the software case you would have known this.
Needless to say after following support instructions the unit was bricked.
Sent it back to Mio, (everything was sent back including original packaging and codes), they advised it would be fixed and returned in approx a week, apparently the fault was common with the upgrade.

Also once you upgraded you could not revert back to your old system using the original disks, you only found out about this after the fact.

4 weeks passed and the unit was returned.
The lifetime SUNA traffic feature was not working….back to Mio it goes.
2 weeks later it is returned with instructions to activate the SUNA feature. Problem is the instructions are for the pre upgraded system and now the code supplied from Mio when originally purchased has less digits that what is now needed for input.
Eventually I get a new code to use after they realise its new software.
All of this involved trying to explain everything to Mio support based in the Philippines.
Would never buy another Mio again.

Now if all I needed was a replacement cable then I'd probably be happy with their support as well :)

  • Interesting we are in 2010 and we get a free upgrade to 2009 map?

  • Looks like a good deal but I'm always weary of buying things from ebay. Not sure about the 2009 maps either since we're in 2010, but then again, it's the start of 2010 so maps for this year might not have been released yet?

  • Agree with danielpenna their support staff were excellent a few years ago before they joint with navman. then it was all downhill.

I recently purchased a Navigon and they are a great GPS device. Noticed Harvey Norman have up to 30% off GPS tomorrow so might be worth going in an taking a look.
Navigon also have 2 years free map updates as well. Saw this in-store yesterday. Sorry forgot to get a photo. But check it out

  • Based on my experience with Mio I think there's a fair chance that support for this unit (map and software updates) won't last much longer. I bought a unit mid 2008 and about a year later had an email pulling the plug on that model.
