That's one stick of pricey suck.

  • Relatively cheap price for an awesome vacuum cleaner.

  • Battery life of 20 mins is no deal for me !

Yes, that really sucks, but have you ever used one of these? It's awesome. Once they figure out how to greatly increase the run time this will be unbelievable.

    • It's manageable once you get into habit of doing spot cleaning and not letting house become disaster

If you must vacuum whole house, then you probably have to do it in 2 lots.

I manage to get our entire 4 bedroom house done on one charge, that's carpet and tiles. When I first started the tank would fill up quick but I think it was simply because it worked better than the full size vacuum we had. As long as you do them often, which you probably will because it is so much easier, charge and tank size is not a problem. I also have 2 kids.

Don't forget that's 20 minutes run time, every time you need to move something you stop it, so even if it normally takes 30 minutes you may only have it running for 20 minutes.

      • What sort of ongoing maintenance/costs are involved? I am tired of buying vacuum bags for my Miele.

    • Agree with others that 20 mins is enough for spot cleaning and maintenance. But its main benefit is that it makes vacuuming easy, saves time plugging and pulling the usual motor unit. With portable Dyson, its very convenient and powerful considering its battery powered.

  • we own a 30 builders square home, with carpet and tiles and it does the whole house in 1 single charge. the first few times may not be enough time, but with regular vacuuming, the 20mins is enough. We empty our cup once a week also now. B4 that, the cup got full very quickly. To us - it just proves how powerful these portable vacuum cleaners are.

  • Just spoke with TGG and they said they don't price beat with Appliances Online.

    • This is weird - why not?

      From their website:
"Competitors must be nominated Australian based businesses and exclude eBay. See http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/pay-less for a list and for full terms and conditions."

      And then the full terms…

"How does the 30 DAY PRICE GUARANTEE work?

After buying from The Good Guys, if you do happen to find same product advertised at a cheaper price by a competitor* within 30 days, you can claim the 30 Day Price Guarantee. This means we’ll give you back 120% of the price difference. We can give you the difference either as a store credit for The Good Guys via SMS within two working days, or as a PAY LESS eftpos card mailed to you within 21 working days. Just provide your receipt and evidence of the lower advertised price and complete the online claim form. We’ll verify the price is current and that the item is available for immediate sale and delivery. We’ll verify the details and arrange for your store credit or PAY LESS eftpos card to get to you. However if you’ve already used PRICE BEAT for the purchase, a 30 Day Price Guarantee claim won’t be accepted.

Currently we are not accepting 30 Day Price Guarantee and Price Beat Claims against Dick Smith due to the business going into Voluntary Receivership."

EDIT: Oh, I see… "You can also claim against local competitors but only in store. The relevant local competitor must have a ‘bricks and mortar store’ within 30km of the relevant The Good Guys store where you purchased or picked up your purchase."

      • Actually going by what's on that page, the rep either lied to me or is misinfomed.

Appliances Online is very much on the list of their competitors.

Yeah, I think so…after re-reading what I posted and looking at TGG website again, the asterisk next to "competitor" refers to "Competitors must be nominated Australian based businesses and exclude eBay." The info regarding the "local competitors" is only for businesses that don't have a website for you to use on your claim form.

I'm picking up my Dyson in an hour and then submitting the claim form ;-)

  • Did they price match $639 or $619?
    Thanks

    • I bought from appliancesonline myself. You could buy from TGG and then request the pricematch.

  • I have sent a message to TGG to ask for the pricebeat against appliceonline. Hopefully, I can get the reply tomorrow.

    • I called TGG store, they accepted price match, not price beat.

  • Thanks for the deal. Worked perfectly. $619 + 1.6% cash back. Now off to do the vacuuming I 'spose…thanks….

  • finally held off for months trying to find this model cheap, bought one..
