Best pick from these bunch (60" TV)

Have narrowed down to a few TV. But hoping for ozbargainers feedback on the best pick of the bunch.

60+"/approx$1600 / FHD or UHD / Wi-Fi / NO ghost image

  1. Panasonic (60"FHD) TH-60CS610A $1450

  2. Samsung (60"FHD) UA60J6200AW $1730

  3. Hisense (65" UHD) 65k321UW. $1795

  4. TCL (65"UHD) U65E5800FS $1695

  5. JVC (65"UHD) LT-65NU50A $1488

  6. LG (60"FHD) 60LF6300 $1595

  7. Sony (60"FHD) KDL60W600B $1395

The Chinese brands are all 65" and UHD….but not sure about their picture quality.

Should I just go for FHD and go for an upgrade in 3 years time.

Which would you pick and recommend ?

Thanks.

  • Got the Sony for $999 on a boxing day special. Is pretty good. Had a dead collumn of pixels, swapped 1 day later when they came to me. Smart functions good, excellent HD playbak, can be a bit crappy on SD free to air, but so ae alot of big TVs.

I am in the same boat as you, have been wanting a new 60" TV in that price range for a while now. Only reason I haven't got one yet is because life and bills keep coming up ><

Anyways, I'd wait for an eBay 20% off sale, most of those TVs were a few hundred dollars cheaper during last years sales and although your listed prices aren't through the roof, personally, I'd feel a bit ripped knowing I could've got those TVs a few months ago for a cheaper price.

The Sony is an older model that came out a couple years ago and it sold for less than $1000 in 2014: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/176302
So I wouldn't feel comfortable paying that much in 2016.

For me, I had it narrowed down to either the Samsung or LG, I leant more towards the LG as I have heard great things about the Smart TV functions and having a play with it in store is way ahead of the others in your list. Also, I couldn't really discern much of a difference between the panels in store.

I really wish I had the available funds last year as during the boxing day eBay sales, I could've purchased the Sony KDL65W800C for $1550 which is a 65" Android FHD TV.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT - roughly off the top of my head, during eBay's 20% off sales:

    Samsung (60"FHD) UA60J6200AW ~$1400
    LG (60"FHD) 60LF6300 ~$1300
    Sony (60"FHD) KDL60W600B ~$1000

    • Wow…..thanks for such a long response.

I am too waiting for another eBay sale. Also little leaning towards LG then Samsung. Even though they are only FHD.

Need to be patient …..more patient ….till the 20% eBay sale. Boxing Day???

  • The next model up (Panasonic TH-60cs630 0r 650) has dual tuners.
    Happy with my 55cs650
CX are UHD models - but not much/nil programming

Walk into a Dick Smith to see what floor stock they have - then ask to see the price on the computer screen.

ive got a hisense 50" UHD tele with basic "smart" features (irrelevant as we have a ps3, xbox 360, chromecast and an i7 2600 media PC plugged into it) which ive had for about a year, very impressed with the picture quality and black levels on it - UHD content (as little of it as there is) looks wonderful on it.

given that id sooner fork out for the hisense or TCL 65" UHD jobbies over the other models. hisense in particular have a very good in-home warranty service which is as good as the "big" brands.

  • Definitely the LG. I work in Brown Goods and The LG is by far the better one. Not to mention its the only one out of those ones which is 200Hz. The Tcl and Hisense are 4k but there isnt any Content for it, and honestly speaking their colours are pretty average. The samsung series 6 was also pretty average. The sony kdl60w600b is a 2014 model and as Keyman said it was sold for under 1k in 2014 boxing day, so youre getting an older Tv.

  • Let's hope for the Easter sale then

  • I was initially looking at the KDL60W600B like yourself however ended up buying the KD-55X8000C / XBR55X810C when I saw them side by side at TGG
