Hi fellow Ozbargainers,

Adipower weightlifting shoes are at the lowest price for a while. Unfortunately, given the poor exchange rate and the fact that we live in Australia, these shoes have been around 280-300 dollars even after discount over the past few years, which is far too expensive in my opinion. However, at 195.60 AUD shipped, these are the best and lowest price for this shoe for a long time :)

There are also other weightlifting shoes that have been discounted for those who prefer a cheaper alternative.

  • looks like something Ant Man would wear

don't think they'd have his size

    • Unfortunately functionality takes a higher priority over fashion when it comes to the weightlifting industry!

      • Yes but in the ozbargain industry, price takes a higher priority over brand name.

People highly recommend chuck Taylor shoes for weightlifting which can be found at a fraction of the price.

People highly recommend Chucks for powerlifting, particularly deadlifts because the soles of your feet are closest to the ground. These are weight lifting shoes. They provide better ankle support, a much better power transfer due to having a hard sole and they also have a heel on them with that angle being easier to squat and press things over head. This is a good price for these. Olympians wear this exact pair.

I'll smash way more bicep curls out with those bad boys

      curls in the rack?

      • Ooh yeah. And that lat pulldown machine won't know what hit it!

  • U just read my mind OP? I was looking for this pair yesterday night and BOOM this morning you posted this deal. Now…before i pull the trigger, i need to know some more details:
How is this compare to Nike romaleos 2-3?
    Are these suitable for running?
    Comfort-wise, are they alright?

    Thank guys

I would definitely not run in these. These were made purely for lifting which has different requirements as opposed to running.

Based on what I've heard, they are pretty similar. I've got a pair of Romaelos 2 and they're pretty awesome.

They are definately not suitable for running. I usually only wear my weightlifting shoes inside the gym. I won't even wear these outside and hence they still look brand new after 1.5 years. As long as you use them for their intended purpose and not for other things, i.e. running , jumping etc, they'll hold up and last you for ages.

This is definately the best price you'll ever get. It's usually around $180USD in the US and that's excluding shipping.

I can't compare to Romaleos as I haven't owned a pair. But from my research, the romaleos and adipowers are both very similar in terms of comfort, performance and functionality. The only difference is of course the visual appearance, and if you have wide feet some people have stated that the adipower suits a more narrow foot. Also the romaleos have 2 straps as compared to 1 in the adipower.
I would not recommend them for running, when you wear them you will understand :) They are not like the free runs, they are designed for stability and to generate maximal force from the ground when you push off. I mainly use these for squats, rows and military press and they have really improved my stability as well as my ability to generate more power from the ground.
In terms of comfort these are second to none. A++ in this area.
In my opinion, these shoes fit true to size. I usually wear a 9-9.5 US for adidas shoes, and UK8.5 fit perfectly.
Personally, I would 100% recommend these if you want to improve your squat depth and form.
      Hope that helps :)

      • Is that true to size? You normally wear a 9-9.5? Which would mean that the adipower runs on the larger side? I've been looking for ages but am scared to pull the trigger on the wrong size.

        • Yeah, so my shoe sizing varies between brands from 9 - 9.5. So for adidas, both 9 and 9.5 fit me but i would usually go 9.5 for running and 9 for boots etc. So if you're in between two sizes, i would recommend going for the smaller end rather than the larger for these (i.e.go half a size down to what you are usually).

  • Thanks op, been looking at the ROMALEOS and the adipowers for a while.

As someone noted above, they run true to size but they are borderline useless for anything other than snatch, clean and jerk, presses and high-bar squats. These won't put you in a good position for deadlift, won't help your bench and you will do yourself a disservice if you try to do cardio in them.

That being said, I think everyone should buy them (especially at this price) and look into an olympic lifting club (infinitely cheaper than crossfit and you may get injured less frequently)

    • I use these with low-bar squats, deadlifts and bench.

Using these with deadlifts allows you to engage the quads a big more in the initial pull. For bench, I find the shoes quite useful if you're trying to get a higher arch, but with the requirement of the feet being planted on the ground. Without the shoes, I find it slightly harder to get my foot to stay on the ground and it's simply not as stable

  • For years I used the indoor soccer shoes for heavy lifting in the gym. And I was looking for a proper lifting shoe for many months and just saw this last night and bought a pair. Thank you OP

  • I've been looking for a pair of these unfortunately they don't come in female sizing, anyone know what male sizes translates to ? Eu I wear 40 us about 9

  • Received my order today. They sent me Power Perfect II shoes in an Adipower box.

Chicken legs for another four weeks then.

    Sigh…
