        i stand corrected - thanks!

      • I have Sony Vaio VPCEB27FG which bought a while ago
        It has 4GB 2x2GB RAM DDR3 PC3-8500 1066MHz 204-pin SODIMM

        Does Kingston 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz Non-ECC SODIMM , can run on my laptop?
I did some research but there is no answer about this situation?

        http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/kingston-4gb-ddr3-1600…

        Please help me!

        • +1

From memory Sony Vaio ram tends to be really annoyingly specific. What's the manufacturer of the original ram?

        • @Kaboda:

          It is Samsung 4GB 2x2GB RAM DDR3 PC3-8500 1066MHz 204-pin SODIMM!

        • @hacmailau: No harm buying one 4gb and seeing how it goes. Probably sell it off easy as this is a pretty good price.

    • +1

The 2 DDR3 Notebook RAM are both low voltage ram.

      • 1.35?

        • yes

        • @ShoppingExpress: does the 8gig ddr3 desktop work in a gigabyte b85m-d3h-a?

Bought it at Xmas and cant use my desktop as it doesnt play nice with my geil enhance corsa ram…

        • @Slippery Fish:

Can you turn on your priviate messaging option under Settings/messaging?

        • @ShoppingExpress: thanks I did not know I had to activate it, its done now.

      • Why doesn't it actually say DDR3L?

      • @Rep:
        Any chance of deal on a regular voltage (1.5V) 8GB DDR3 SO-DIMM?

        Thanks.

    • 8 GB Low Voltage also - hopefully it works in the wifes Acer ES1-411.

Nice to see the NUC and microserver still staying at those price points with our crappy dollar.

  • I've been considering the Skylake NUCs to replace my aging HTPC, but lacking HDMI 2.0 keeps me from pulling the trigger. No TVs come with DisplayPort so not sure I want to commit.

    • +1

Might be a while too, I instead built a htpc with a nvidia gpu with hdmi 2.0, doubles as a great tv gaming pc (with a controller!), not cheap though.

    • +1

You can use an active mDP to HDMI 2.0 adaptor for 4K TV HDMI output.

    • Isnt 1.4 OK for 4K?

      • only if you think 30 fps is ok

    • Yes it was disappointing that Skylake NUCs don't support HDMI 2.0.
      Surely the next gen will.
Wait another year or two. 'till then I'll just use my Chinese atom based htpc.

  • @TA; no cash reward?

  • +1

Good price but if you don't want to wait 8gb Notebook ram is $55 every day of the week pick up

  • I think it's finally time to bite the bullet and pick up 16G of RAM for $98. So cheap - I paid $85 for 8GB of RAM only last year (which needs to go in to be repaired).

    • Ok purchased! Annoying isn't it how if RAM is faulty you have to send the whole set back. Looking forward to having 16GB of RAM compared to the 4GB I've been running on for a while now (waiting for a deal on RAM so I could purchase and ship the faulty modules off).

  • Good deal, especially with delivery.

  • Anyone got any tips or websites I can use so I can build a baritone NUC. I'd love to get into it!

    • Hey, yeah love mine. Setup with Openelec for Kodi on a USB stick. And Win10 SSD drive dual boot (optional $$)

      Good resource here->
      http://nucblog.net/

  • The rams are CL15 btw so don't think about using them in a gaming build.

    • If the program or game is RAM-hungry, I think total amount is much more important. i.e. 16GB of CL15 would be much better than 8GB of CL9.

    • Also like to know with regards to x250

  • I already have 16GB, would I get much more improvement for having another 8GB??

    • That depends on the programs you use. If they could use the RAM then yes, otherwise nope.

      • i dont really use any special programs, just surf with chrome….but with LOTS of tabs…. (probably couple hundreds)

        • +1

Would probably help then, chrome is a huge memory hog, SSD would help massively also if you haven't got one.

  • +2

6th gen nuc prices are not that great. would be expecting $400 mark.

    • i agree, all is 4th or 5th gen, must be clearing out to stock in 6th gen (which is RRP and cheaper elsewhere).

      • 5th gen prices are not that great too

  • Would any of this ram fit a Macbook air (2013) model ?

  • A couple of quick questions:

    • I currently bave 2 x 2GB in my laptop. If I want to upgrade to 8GB, is it better to go 1 x 8GB or 2 x 4GB? Or doesn't it matter?
    • What's the easiest way to work out what specs for the RAM I need (I run an HP Windows 7 laptop)?

Many thanks to anyone who has the time to answer these!! :-)

    • +3

1x8GB, you want the future upgrade-ability of that one free slot (unless you're ditching the laptop soon)
For the 2nd question, check the specs on the HP website, will likely be compatible with this one: http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/kingston-8gb-ddr3-1600…

    • +1

check if your laptop/motherboard uses dual channel. If dual channel you'll want to use 2 sticks to leverage it.

I'm assuming dual channel ram is a concept that applies to laptops and not just desktops

      • +6

Dual channel is very overrated, no one can feel the speed difference.

  • why is the intel nuc6i5syk (smaller unit) more expensive than the nuc6i5syh (full size one!)…. RRP is meant to be other way arounnd. also 32gb 92x16) ddr4 ram not listed or on sale… all 2014/2015 gear. oh well, maybe next time.

    • nuc6i5syh are on sale. nuc6i5syk are not. RRPs tend to be about the same for both.

      DDR4 RAM:
      http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/kingston-8gb-2133mhz-d…

      • nuc6i5's take 32gb of dddr4 max, there are not any 16gb sodimms (x2) max out, unfortunately. why isnt syk (thin0 on sale?

        • 32GB DDR4 Kit:
          http://www.amazon.com/dp/B015YPB8ME/ref=psdc_172500_t1_B015Y…

Generally, syh ones are more popular (easier to sell them). I reckon if they want to sell nuc6i5syk, they will need to offer a bigger discount (quite hard to do for the latest gen nuc). The only reason I got a nuc5i5ryk last year was because it was priced at the rrp of the i3 equivalent. I am still trying to think of a way to use that SATA port on the board….

        • @netsurfer:

yes, amazon is the place to go for 32gb ddr ram.

like this — "You Save: $0.79"

        • @sachz: Um… you want the 32GB DDR4 SODIMM RAM… knowing they are not that popular and not many places stock them.. but you want bargain price now.

Honestly, if I were to put 32GB DDR4 in a NUC, I would probably pair it with a top notch m2 SSD and maybe a SATA3 hard drive or another SATA3 SSD. Skylake NUC.. if you were to get it now, don't expect dirt cheap price.

        • @netsurfer: yea, current gen do exist, the 950 pro 512gb was $399 on ebay last month. yes, im looking to pair current gen with current gen, aka ddr4, m.2 pcie, and a 6th gen nuc. thnx for ur concern. athe next bargain is around the ozbargain corner, as they say…

  • will there be any problem if i use 2x 4GB DDR3 with 1x 8GB DDR4? if no i might grab the 8GB before they gone.

    • +6

Yes, there will be a problem. Your motherboard most likely cannot support both DDR3s and DDR4s.

  • Can you do something on 8GB 1.5V DDR3 notebook RAM? For a Macbook Pro.

    • +3

DDR3L is a dual voltage capable memory SoDIMM, which supports operation at both 1.5V and 1.35V.

      Just buy the DDR3L ~~

      • Which one are you talking about, sorry?

        • Are you going to upgrade your Macbook Pro?

You can buy the DDR3L 1.35V RAM 8G $49, it supports your laptop. No need to buy 1.5V RAM

        • @huhuu77: Sorry, misunderstood you. Thanks. Will do.

  • I've got an Inspiron 7559 with 8GB Samsung RAM. What would be good to pair with that?
Is it better to get another samsung 8GB stick or does it make no difference?

    • I feel no difference, I use samsung ram with corsair ram together. One is DDR3, another is DDR3L

  • Hi Guys,
Can anyone advise if I can use the 2 4 GB DDR3 with my existing G. Skill Sniper series DDR3 RAM?
    http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f314900cl9d8gb…
    MB: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-h97me

The voltage in the current deal seems to be 1.35 v.

  • What ram is compatible with a macbook pro? Send a link pls rep. Both 4gb and 8gb. Thanks!

  • Thanks again TA, it's like you know when I need to order a new NUC. Ordered a new setup again today.

And to @ShoppingExpress rep, some feedback for you guys. Thanks again for calling me after I messed up my RAM order again. Your attention to customer service is just awesome.

    • +2

no worries - we do what we can :).

You do need to remember though, we are ShoppingExpress, not ShoppingSquare :P

      • OMG! I am so sorry. I don’t know how I got that mixed up. Those guys I deplore. Their customer service is the worst. That's why I shop with you guys. Shame you didn’t PM me and I could have edited it…

        • How do you edit the typo back to @ShoppingExpress?

        • @O O: I just reported it to a mod as a mistake. A mod had to fix it.

  • Are these NUCS any good for basic games such as Towerfall Ascension? Planning to bring this + PS3 controllers to gatherings

  • @ShoppingExpress:
Can you look into offering a faster shipping option?
I find your deliveries to Perth average about a week and a half.

    • Will feedback this to our top management and hopefully we can provide such services soon :).

  • Hi OP. Newbie type question here. Have a 4 year old HP desktop with PC3-10600, DDR3-1333MHz, 240-pins, non-ECC, unbuffered DIMM (Dual In-Line Memory Module). Can I replace this with your Kingston 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L Desktop Ram? Or, can you do a deal on Kingston 8GB DDR3 1333MHz Non-ECC RAM? OR, is there any other cheap alternative you can suggest?

  • What do I do :( I paid $100 for 8gb of black/red coloured DDR4 ram. Now there's the basic stick for $49. Don't know if RAM is worth aesthetics trade off

  • Thanks, just bought 2 x 4gb Desktop Ram. I'm building a budget Pc, so does anyone have any good value cases, motherboards or cpus they can link me? thanks.

  • +1

@ShoppingExpress i am trying to place an order now but it is charging me shipping. Do i need to enter a code?

  • Hi Rep,

Does the 8GB Kingston in this link fit the Macbook Pro Mid 2010?

    http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/kingston-8gb-ddr3-1600…

Any advice from you guys is much appreciated!

Edit 1: what does the term "life time warranty" mean? Does it mean from the date of purchase until it dies :)

  • @ShoppingExpress
Just to double confirm the ram you have KVR16E118I that's fully compatible with the G1610T right?

  • hi there, does it work with HP notebook 14-af102AU? its currently got 2gb ddr3 sdram.

  • I have a Acer Aspire ES1-4V notebook. I ran a crucial scan "app" on it and memory required is:
    "8Gb DDR3 PC3-12800, unbuffered non-ECC, 1.35V, 1024 Meg X 64".
Do you have this or something compatible on sale?

    Thanks

  • @ShoppingExpress hi there, does it work with HP notebook 14-af102AU? its currently got 2gb ddr3 sdram.

  • Hi, I'd love to buy 2 x 8GB DDR3L Kingston sticks but when I do it shows $57 + shipping. Am I missing a code for the $49 deal and free shipping or am I too late?
    Thanks

    • same for me :( must have missed out

  • Thanks. The memory was delivered today, 8gb ram, passed a memory test.

For everyone who didn't know about compatibility, kingston have on their website a list of laptops and which rams you can use. Modern chipsets are usually pretty good at going down to the speed of the slowest memory when there're different memory pieces inside so it's probably ok.

  • Received my 8GB Kingston DDR3L notebook RAM today.

Unfortunately the seal had been cut through, which is a bit disconcerting - if it is new, genuine stock then why was it necessary to open the seal?

Will run some memory tests tonight…
