$30 of Free Credit When You Sign up to The Hertz 24/7 Carshare Service in PER/BNE/CBR

120

This car sharing service has just gone live in Perth, will go live in Brisbane on 17/03 and will also start operating in Canberra soon after.

They've decided to offer free $30 credit (which is about 3 hours worth of rental on their cheapest models like a Hyundai i30 and just over 2 hours of free hire with a 'prestige' car like a BMW) to people from these three cities who sign up for the service and there are basically no strings attached.

I am a member of this car sharing service and think it's great value for the casual user or when travelling interstate.

I use it when I visit Sydney and it's cheaper than using Uber or a 'normal' hire car for the day (if you need a car just for one day or only for a few hours every day).

Here's what I like about this service:

  • No joining fees, ongoing fees or security deposits of any kind.

  • No need to commit to any level of usage.

  • Fully inclusive rates (including petrol and insurance) that are the lowest for any competing car sharing services that I have come across to date. http://hertz247.com.au/rates

  • No Km restriction when hiring by the hour and up to 350km when hiring by the day (any hire longer than 8 hours will automatically be charged at the daily rate).

You can access the cars even without having the security token (which you get for free in the mail) by entering a PIN on the car's PIN pad.

Booking a car is super easy and can be done either through the website or with the extremely user-friendly iOS and Android apps.

Given signing up is free and with no obligation to ever use it in the future (even though they do require your personal details including driver's license and credit card), you can sign up and collect your free credit now and ask questions later :)

In order to get the free $30 credit, you need to enter the full name of an existing member in the promotion code box during the signup process. You will see it at stage 3 of the sign-up process after you supplied your driver's license number and credit card details.

I'd appreciate if you enter mine but you are also welcome to enter the name of anyone else you know who is a current Hertz 24/7 member (account must be active and in good standing which means no missed payments/ expired credit card details etc.)

Finally, here is how Hertz 24/7 compares against their competition, according to their own analysis:

The promotion does not seem to have an official end date. If I find that it ends at some point, I will update the expiry details for this post.

Referral code is: Michael Ginsburg.

Fair Disclosure: Both the referrer and the referee get $30 credit.

  • Do we have to drop it off at the same place we picked it up or are there a variety of drop-off locations?

    • You have to drop off at the same location where you picked it up

  • I cant see how / where to "refer"

This sentence does not sound good.

  • I wonder who the competitor is in their comparison. Don't think it sounds like the Ikea service.

Also, standard excess for 25+ year old is $2000. Can be reduced to $300 for hourlv/daily surcharge.

    • Their main competitor in Brisbane would be GoGet.

Hertz also run a carshare scheme in Melbourne under the Flexicar brand which has totally different pricing structure (including monthly membership fees)

      • Thanks. I didn't recognise that it really was GoGet (who were/are partnered with Ikea) because there was no fee when I signed up after getting a letter from Ikea. I guess $49 is there normal base plan joining fee.

  • Is there a referral wiki page for this?
If anyone want to use my code it is Jason Coutinho

  • Is it essentially a standard one-day/8hour car hire service from Hertz? Or is something else happening? Where does the "share" come into it?

    • You can also hire by the hour.

The cars are not at a Hertz office but rather parked at designated spots around the CBDs and are available 24/7 (subject to other bookings obviously)

Reservations as well as pickup and drop off are fully self-serve. There are no human staff present.
