    BigW Giftcard Again, thx op

    • +3

Yep, 10% off BigW Gift Card is great deal. Realistically, cant you just
      1. Buy $50 Gift Card for $45
      2. Grab Copy of Spectre for $10 with said Gift Card, effectively paying $9 for it
      3. Go back to spend your remaining $36 on 1 LEGO set ($20/$18) and have $18 left to spend on Easter eggs @ 30% off

That's like 3 or 4 decent Easter Presents right there for $45!

      • +6

People give out Easter presents? Like Christmas?! I thought people just gave each other chocolate eggs/cross buns.

        • +1

Depends - sometimes If someone I know is getting a load of chocolate, I like to mix things up.

      • I don't think this would work as it says you have to spend $50 to get the DVD at $10, as in all up you would pay $60.

        • Maybe you're right…

        • @rawm:
Also, it might only be the $100 Big W gift card on sale.

        • @star64: Nah i think I saw the $50 version on sale.

  • does anyone know if the bigw gift cards can be used at woolies?

    • you can buy 'wish' gift card in bigw, which can be used in woolies

      • +8

Not the question that was asked

        • +4

          Thanks Captain Obvious!

        • -2

If you smart enough, you should know the answer.

        • -1

@piztol: if you know the answer, you don't ask the question. Also, don't be a jerk - just because someone doesn't know something doesn't mean they're dumb.

    • +3

      Yes, just used it yesterday

      • +3

Please note their system can be changed anytime, so before we can tested the new batch, nothing is confirmed.

    • +3

I went to a BWS and asked if I can pay my wine with a wish gift card. the lady at the counter said they accept all wish card just not BigW. told me the company has separate it from the group. so I am assuming bigw gift card may soon be not accept by woolies

      • +5

A Wish gift card will be accepted at all Woolworths group stores. Wish gift cards can be branded as a BigW Wish gift card or a Dan Murphy's Wish gift card. They still will be accepted at all other brands.

The problem are store gift cards, they will only be accepted by the brand that issued them.

The difference is in the small print. Before you buy a physical card, read the details on the attached cardboard to make sure you get what you expect to get.

    • ok thanks all

i though i read it somewhere i cant use gift card to buy gift card? even if using self checkout and if the wish card can be found on the shelving, i still need an attendant to "ok" the transaction on the checkout and thats when the method of payment is denied? anyone successfully done it before?

      • i have done this numerous times at Big W, never had an issue

    • -1

      no, they cant

    • They were but not sure what these $100 gift cards are as those were select your amount.

  • With Ticketmaster gift cards, can you pay add specific amounts only or is it set?

  • I wonder if they've fixed their checkouts to stop us buying gift cards with gift cards. If not, I might have to try turning $90 into $440 again.

    • -2

Please explain? PM if needed :)

    • So if your outlay was only $90 are you saying every attempt you made to purchase a gift card with another gift card was successful?

      • Yep. I bought a $100 gift card for $90. Then used that to buy a $110. Then that to buy a $120. Etc etc, until I had a $440 gift card plus small amounts left on each of the others.
The Big W near me has two checkout areas, each with a self serve section. So I just went through a few different checkouts a couple of times a day for 2/3 days.

        • Surely they have fixed this issue yeah? if not then :P

        • All the Big W stores I visited it was not possible to purchase the Big W GCs at the self serve section.

I think last time it was easier to get away with it because it was Xmas trading, they were busy, had long queues and less time to check. I think they will be more on to it this time.

        • +1

@unity1: I needed someone to come help when I did it at self serve, but often they just said it wasn't possible and to use a regular register. I felt like saying "I know it is possible, because I've had it done about 7 times now".

        • So the Big W gift cards you were buying could have any amount put on them?

        • +1

          @sween64: yes

        • How many times did you go through the check out?

        • +1

          @wmrollo: ~18

    Sony Muteki 100w Wireless Speakers

    • +4

Bought one recently when JBHI FI Had them reduced at a similar price. Took it back as sound is crap…
Not sure about chrome cast only has bluetooth / audio in.

Better off with the 500w Mutekis they are half decent, good bass ( what i ended up buying )

      • Yeah I ended up with the 500W as well for $234 (OW price beat). Was worth paying the extra $45 over the 100W.

  • Any more specials? im looking for a 3DS

    • No 3DS Deals this week :(

  • +2

They should be giving away Spectre for free. It was so bad.

ALL HAIL CASINO ROYALE! LONG LIVE EVA GREEN!

    • Spectre was easily the worst Bond movie ever made. Just astonishingly second rate. I'd rate not one, but TWO of that crackpot loony Tom Cruise's action movies from last year, as being better than Spectre.

      • +2

Please don't say that. Tom Cruise doesn't deserve the notoriety.

  • +3

The Muteki GTKN1BT seems a great price at $169. Compare that to Dick Smiths Receivers sale price of $318.40 and you have to think WTF are the people at Dick Smith doing.

How long is the 10% valid for?

    • +1

      From Thursday to Wednesday.

  • +1

Nice. Might grab an eShop card.

How long does the sale last though? A real stinker this week, don't really wanna have to take the two buses to and from Big W right away if I don't have to.

  • What are the lego and board games?

  • +2

Would love to know if bigw card could be purchased with another gift card.

    • Last time you could. The staff were told not to allow it, but the system doesn't stop it. So I would just say I am paying with a card, and happen to swipe a gift card instead of my credit card.

      • I agree you could use physical card but I used egift cards last time and the staff still did not say anything.

The max. top up was $500 per card so I paid 15% less(10% this promo and 5% off for egift card).

  • +2

$199 for the charge HR… LOL

  • +1

Sorry if this has been covered before, but can you buy a Big W Gift Card at 10% off, then use that card to buy PSN credit for example?

    • +3

Yes. The T&C's only state you cannot buy another Big W/Woolworths/Wish Gift Card with a Wish/Big W/Woolworths card.

In saying that, I have seen it happen, even if it contravenes the T&Cs. It is entirely possible for head office to change this though.

      • Great! Thanks for the response!

      • Hiya,

        I couldn't see it in the T&C's.

        Is it in this document?

          Under section 3.3

3.3 When purchasing Physical Gift Cards at any WISH Gift Card Participating Store, payment can be made via cash, EFTPOS or credit card

        • +2

          @dennis.s.s: As posted elsewhere

The Terms and Conditions you have posted state "3.3 When purchasing Physical Gift Cards at any WISH Gift Card Participating Store, payment can be made via cash, EFTPOS or credit card."

Note that it clearly says "payment CAN be made"; it does NOT state "payment MUST be made", nor does it specify any exclusions. (eg. Gift cards CAN NOT be purchased using gift cards.)

However, if we accept your definition of exclusivity from section 3.3, then you would be excluded from paying for a GiftCard using any of the following:

          (1) Visa Debit Card
          (2) Mastercard Debit Card
          (3) Prepaid Visa
          (4) Prepaid Mastercard
          (5) Cheque (upon production of suitable identification)

This is most definitely NOT the case, as all the above are acceptable methods of payment at BigW for gift cards (I have called and confirmed). Hence it is reasonable to assume that the above section 3.3 should not exclude using a gift card as a method of payment.

Further to this, since no exclusions have been stated, the method of payment for gift cards would then default to the payment forms accepted by BigW in its general payment terms, and that includes gift cards as a form of payment. ie Other than cash, you may pay with any of the following payment methods:

          (i) Woolworths Everyday Money® Credit Card;
          (ii) Visa;
          (iii) MasterCard;
          (iv) American Express; and
          (v) Diners Club; and
(vi) Debit cards displaying a Visa or Mastercard logo
          (vii) Wish Gift cards

As a side note, advice from Woolworths indicates that "We accept personal, government, bank and travelers' cheques (in Australian currency) subject to our company policy and procedure."

        • -1

@Tiggrrrrr: In regards to buying GC with GC can't they use this against us?

2.3 '…. you warrant to us that you will comply with these terms and conditions and all applicable laws and that the WISH Gift Card will not be used in any manner that is unlawful, misleading, deceptive, unfair or otherwise harmful to consumers'

        Thanks :)

  • so to buy $2k worth of bigw gift cards I have to buy 20 x 100?

    • It is hard to say at the moment.

Either these $100 cards are new or some other reason.

If you look at the picture it looks like the $100 has been photoshopped onto the image.

Has anyone seen these $100 cards in store?

      • I think the $100 is printed just to highlight that is the minimum you must spend to qualify for the discount. If it was like last time then you should be able to purchase a $500 card ( maximum value ) for $450.

        • Sounds like a reasonable theory.

        • If you click on the picture in the catalogue to enlarge the picture the $100 on the BigW card is no longer there.

      • On the catalogue the picture looks like a different card to the wish card. Red card with Big W in the middle of the card.

    • Yep. Or in our case it will be over 3k like the christmas sale. Used most of it on fuel.

  • +1

So I can walk in, buy a Big W gift card, walk out, walk in again, use the Big W gift card to buy a Nintendo eshop card, and save $$?

    • +4

Sure. Skip the walking out, you aren't doing anything dodgy here.

      • wait, so grab both cards and do transaction 2 straightaway? I never thought of that lol!

  • theres some good prices on xbox one games in that catalgue too.
worth its own post halo 5 is only $55. $49.50 if you buy a girtcard first.

  • +1

Those big w cards look to the be the same as the ones from the last 10% off promo, which are wish cards so can be used at any of the woolworths owned stores (bws, Dan Murphy's etc)

    • Are you buying any, can you let me know?

      • +1

you can simply read the back of the cards in store… if they mention being 'Wish' cards (just with Big-W logos on the front) then they are no different than any other wish card

and yep, I'll be buying some like last time (this time to get my Amex spend up from the ANZ Black FF deal so I reach the $2500 spend limit this month)

        • Were they like that? current catalogue shows It's a red card with big W logo. Hopefully its not just for BIG W.

        • @Inflow:

Yep.. Same card.. Still have an unused $500 one in my wallet

        • @SBOB:

Strange, I just a had live chat and their saying it's only for BIG W. Unless they have no idea as well.

        • @Inflow:

easy enough to see when it becomes live.. go in store, find the rack of cards they are advertising it for and check the bck.. if it mentions 'Wish Card' then its everywhere, if they mention 'Big W Only' then it isnt

But that image is 100% the same as the deal from last time when they did 10% off (as I bought $2k worth)

        • @SBOB: haha yeah, I'll be doing that for sure. Lets hope it's the same.

  • Any deals on new 3ds xl?

  • +1 for this.
I've been waiting for the board games to go on sale again so I can pick up Cluedo.
I've been using board games as a gateway to get my sons into Warhammer 40,000.

  • Hi all, can I use the 10% off Ticketmaster and then try and use the 20% off eastershow code to effectively give you 30% off?

    • That's what I want to know.

  • Staff discount doesn't work with gift cards, does it?

    • No

      • +1

Bugger. There goes my ridiculous plans.

Although I suppose I could get an eGift card via Cashrewards for extra savings anyway. Big W accept those.

        • Purchase gift card in store using eGift card from CR? Sounds like a good plan if it works.

        • @sween64: Don't see why it wouldn't. egift Wish Cards are accepted at Big W. I was tempted to get one of those, buy a Big W card then use that to buy several eShop cards.

But the saving is…ehhh, alright, but not huge enough to warrant me doing it. If my staff discount worked, then I'd totally do it though. :P

I don't need eShop credit though, so it's hard to justify.

  • Can't think why you'd get Game of Thrones Monopoly, or any Monopoly game. Grab Articulate for $30 ($27?), great board game.

If you want Game of Thrones on your table, settle in for a half day and get serious https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/a-game-of-thr…

  • Is there any reason why I couldn't buy multiple big w gift cards in store and use them to buy an iPad online? Looking around for the cheapest place to get iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 4…

  • For those physical gift cards, is there a way to write the card number and pin when paying? as I'd be sharing it with the family?

    • The pin it printed on the back under a scratch off panel. The card has a mag strip to swipe.
