Good price, although I'd pay an extra $4 for local warranty.

I don't know why people keep saying this.

Amazon sends you the replacement via express which takes around 3 days. Then they pay for return shipping.

Find me one local retailer (except possibly brick and mortar walk ins) that'll get you the replacement in less than 2 weeks and not have you out of pocket for shipping.

Have many people talked about their Amazon microsd warranty claim here?

Do they do that for the whole 5-year warranty period? Is it specific to Samsung?
From previous comments on the famous/infamous PNY 128GB drive, it depends on the manufacturer.

Reading the comments you linked, both were referring to "conversations with Amazon" not actual experiences with returns.

Obviously I can't speak for Amazon in every situation but I've never encountered or read about Amazon refusing a warranty claim. What you need to take into account is that Amazon will usually do more for you than what their official policies and legal obligations stipulate. If you contact them with a reasonable claim, they will usually take the "make it right" approach.

I had a 3 year old Transcend memory card (with lifetime warranty) go bad. Transcend told me to take a hike because it was made before they started putting serial numbers on their cards. Amazon refunded me the full purchase amount including shipping even thought they were under zero obligation to do so.

I would imagine if Amazon says no, they wouldn't do it.

Anyway my comment was in response to bobjane saying "I don't know why people keep saying this." What are people meant to say if no one here has talked about their samsung microsd warranty claim from Amazon, especially 2-3 years after purchase?

        • @eug:

I would say "What's Amazon's warranty support like?" or better yet I'd google it myself instead of saying "I'd pay extra for local warranty" when it is so clearly inferior.

        • @bobjane:

when it is so clearly inferior.

          How is it clearly inferior?

        • @eug:

I suggest taking the time to read my very first reply to you. I already addressed this, clearly.

        • @bobjane:

How is that clear? It was a general comment that did not mention Samsung at all, and you were passive-aggressive right from the start, as if everyone has talked about claiming warranty for Samsung microSD cards from amazon all the time.

Are you saying you have lodged a warranty claim specifically for a Samsung microSD card with Amazon before? How many years into the warranty were you?

        • @eug:

I'm sorry eug. I wasn't aware that only experiences with Samsung MicroSD are applicable. Amazon obviously treats Samsung MicroSDs differently to every other product. I'll shut up now.

Please feel free to keep paying extra for local warranty.

          @bobjane: You're forgiven.

        • My experience with Amazon warranties, and several other oversees orders, has been much better than local returns. Headphones, motherboards, etc have been replaced for no charge and within a week. While local warranties have been tedious and covered in red tape to make the process more difficult, and postage is often at my expense.
Regarding experience with Samsung products, this has been pretty poor. An expensive fridge had a faulty touch panel that took ages to get fixed and was not installed properly, 4 out 8 hard disks failed in 6 months and I had to return at my expense for replacements, and a 50 inch tv went back and forth so many times that the only original part left was the plastic casing!
If I did buy Samsung again I would feel better knowing I had Amazon to deal with over their local service centers.

In my experience with Amazon, they only pay US$11 to return shipping. That is way less than the cost of posting back to the USA!

Por que? Last time I had an Amazon purchase break I was asked to contact the manufacturer for warranty claims, manufacturer didn't offer global warranty……which meant a broken device and no replacement.

    • Are you referring to the SSD, or the MicroSD card, or both?

If the MicroSD card, where are you getting it locally for $65? Cheapest I can find — in the 5 second I spent looking — is $77 shipped (from http://www.skycomp.com.au/ - never used them myself, just came up on shopbot).

      • MicroSD, it's the one mentioned in the deal description above.
I really am curious about Amazon's warranty. I haven't read much about people's microSD warranty claims from Amazon here.

        • Right. I skim-read and missed the reference to TA's deal :\

Not presently $4 more to purchase locally all the same.

  • Sandisk Ultra II 960Gb is also 235 more history in ssd

  • Price for me is $48.12 USD and I am in Sydney.

    • weird, I'm also in sydney and it's coming up has $45.1

  • How are PNY SSDs? Waiting for an Evo or an intel 960gb/1tb ssd to drop to that price
