Bluetooth Speaker with Multiple Skin $8.75 (Original Price $35) @ Woolworths

210

I purchased this last time it was on sale. Pretty impressive sound and the battery lasts for ages. I saw about 12 of them at Woolies Carnegie North (in Spotlight centre) on corner of Dandenong Rd and Koornang Rd.

This is the link to the last time it was posted, but says its expired https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/229327

Interesting to see if in other stores.

Some reporting they have purchased it for $7.50

Thanks Rocket. I'll go down to the store tomorrow and see if there is any stock.

  • My store stocks new stock now, already cleared out the old stock

    • I'd check again as it was all sold out in this store and then a heap suddenly appeared.

      • +1

OK, might check local stores, will report back soon

I got two the other day and they actually scanned up as $7.50 each! Spotted them at Watergardens Woolworths (near Nandos) in the corner near the batteries. The other Watergardens woolworths store had them in the stationery/tech section. 2 x 2w speakers. Ok for the price.

Yeah I got a few at my local they were $7.50 about 2 weeks ago

Why didnt you share here??? You obviously got a few and you knew it was a bargain.

      • Yeah got 1 for each family member (5 all up). Saw it was already posted for $8 and had a look at other safeways but there were none so I thought it'd be only my store.
Commented on the $8 thread asking the guy that wanted one if he was in melb so I could direct him to the store that has them but he didn't reply..

        • Fair enough :)

I'm just jealous cause I missed out :(

        • @faceman54: You tried all the stores in your area?

        • @shapers:

          Haven't tried any… yet!

  • about what size are they?

does it come with a charger or you use a phone charger (micro usb)?

    • About 18cm wide and comes with a micro USB cable to charge.

      • thanks.

  • Does it have an aux input or only BT?

    • +2

It does have a 3.5mm AUX IN, but cable is not supplied

      • thanks

and it's just a speaker right? no mic?

        • +1

          it has a mic

        • +1

According to the box it's a "built-in speakerphone with microphone"

On the side of the unit there's a microphone condenser, similar to what you'd find on a laptop without a dedicated microphone port

I cannot vouch for it's quality as I haven't tested that yet. When hooking it up to my laptop on BT it comes up as a handsfree BT set though

        • Thanks guys

Can report at Carnegie North it is $7.50 (no yellow tag % off tag anymore)

    • Any left?

      • Yes. I picked one up around 21:00 and there were at least 8 left then

  • Just got three from Brisbane Airport 24hr Woolies @ $7.50 each. There's still a few left. Perfect timing. Need one for myself, girlfriend and a gift.

  • Wetherill park store sells it for $7.50 and just tested it and in my opinion its very weak and crackly anyway if you like theres 4 in stock

    • +1

Really? Mine doesnt crackle at all

    • weak and crackly? Mine seem fairly decent. A bit tinny, but that's not a surprise.

I don't think anyone expects to be able to host an outside party with one of these.

I bought a very similar unit from Kmart called "Picnic speaker". The sound is not too bad, and it contains a 18650 Lithium cell for power

    http://www.kmart.com.au/wcsstore/Kmart/images/espots/Shop-pr…

$10 each. Heaps (whole end) full at North Rocks in Sydney.

I ended up modding mine, make the charge status LED easier to see.

    • How did you mod it?
I have one but the led is impossible to see could you upload any pictures?

      • +1

Pointless me uploading pictures, it was a mod that I "made it up as I went along". Easier to explain in words….

The PCB inside is designed for a "sideways" 2-colour LED that shines rearwards and then has a plastic "light pipe" that directs the light back to that tiny hole.

The LED they have installed is a 2-colour "front facing" LED which means that the illumination gets thrown up inside the box, plus there is no light pipe to direct it to the hole. Thus, when you peek in the hole you can only see a faint glow if you get the viewing angle 100% correct.

I removed the LED and fitted 2 standard 3mm LEDs instead. There is a pin header for a 3-leg 2-colour LED, so I used those holes. The LEDs were soldered with long legs so they poke out through 2 holes I drilled in the back, either side of the MicroUSB.

I only used 2 LEDs because I didn't have a suitable 2-colour one. Mine now has 1 blue, one green and one orange/red LED on the back.

You can just drill out the tiny hole, that will help. If you glue a piece of clear plastic in there you can direct the light from the LED out through the back.

        • Thanks a lot mate…

Bought a couple of these a while back, got one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom. For $8 or whatever they were, you can't go wrong, chuck one up on the shelf at head height and it sounds great (for such a cheap speaker)

  • Bought one last night for $7.50. Our one is surprisingly good.

  • None at Woolworths Arkaba (SA).

  • One left at Blacktown.

    • 10 left @ Seven Hills

      both stores scanning at $7.50

  • About 6 or so at Avondale Heights (VIC). Scanned at $7.50.

  • This sounds weird. Do any of your speakers have a detergent smell? Both of my boxed speakers smell lemon/lime-y.

    • Ya, mine does as well.

  • Not a big thing, but note that this is slightly different to the ones sold before as it has only 2 skins. The previous one had 3 skin options. Check out OP's photo, price label states 3 skins but product has only 2 skins.

So perhaps a different batch to the previous ones, and sold for $7.50.

    • Yes you're right. This one is 2x2W but last one was reported as 2x5W. Also last one could playback via USB but this one is charging only.

      • damnit now i want that one!

  • Thanks, great for gifts for my relatives when I go overseas
