Awesome, saves me buying it from Futu and risking damage during shipping.

    • I picked mine up. I reckon you can't get safer shipping than that :p

officeworks listed price is already low compared to one of the products…in the list.

  • WD Cloud or a low end Synology NAS?

  • Under $40 per TB. This is a good price.

  • Can we remove from the enclosure and use as an internal drive?

    • isnt it cheaper to just buy internal drives?

      • Not for the 3-5TB drives

  • Picked up 4 this afternoon and managed to negotiate down to $189 each. Crack opened one and working on increase the idle time to 300sec now.

Can confirm disk idle time can be set to 300 sec using wdidle3.exe without problem.
Tested the left over enclosure too. Some source form internet reckon it only recognizes 5TB drives. For me it seems to compatible to all disks I tested. I tried Seagate/Samsung and a few older WD drives. It even works with a 10 years old WD Caviar SE 80GB.

      • Cool. What drive did you get inside?

      • So they work fine as an internal drive?

      • What does changing the idle time accomplish?

    • I would also like to know what drives you got inside and if there is a way to tell without opening the case first?

Yes it is a WD Green 5.0TB model WD50EZRX. Can be used as internal drive. I bought them to be used in a NAS. So the idle time has to be changed to a larger number to stop the disk parking too often.

        • Thanks for the reply, what a shame I was really hoping for red drives like previous deals according to here you can use crystal diskinfo to find out without opening the drive, what store did you purchase from?

  • I manage to find the 2.5 inch 3tb ultra metal edition at $199. So I pay 159. Limited stock. The man said the 20% should not apply but he gave it to me anyway. 2 left at Chatswood Westfield store.
