  • Anyone had any issues with bestjet?

I searched the LIFE out of IWTF, thanks to all their deals here. Total mess, but I searched other price-gathering sites too. Everything lead me to Bestjet, repeatedly. Cheaper than everywhere else, cheaper & better options than airline-direct. Gave them a shot, no probs, and now I'm on their email list.

generally only have issues if you need to make any changes where they slug you with huge fees, or if you need any sort of customer service. it's run by two or three idiots in fortitude valley in qld.

worlds worst customer service, to the point where you think you will never ever do business with them again. read the reviews online there's thousands.

if you never need to make changes or speak to someone who works there, it's one of the cheapest places to book with no credit card fees too. Just make sure you definitely know you're never going to need to make any changes or you'll be put through hell and back trying to contact and carry on conversation with them.

      prices 9/10
customer service minus 100 out of 10

if you make a one letter spelling mistake they'll charge you about 200 dollars to change it as they claim you need to cancel the ticket and buy another one (possibly even at a higher price) when most other places will just fix it for you

      • Thanks for the heads up Makoto Im currently on the lookout for flights to Thailand and saw Bestjets price is one of the cheapest out there (around $80-150 cheaper than booking direct) while searching iwtf and skyscanner. Perhaps its not worth the $80 if you have to deal with all those hassles.

thaiair have a network sale on at the moment, so pretty cheap. What I don't understand is that you need to use the deals link otherwise, going through the main page you get standard fares(ie: 882.86 compared with $1,086.86) Keep in mind thai is a full service airline

        • @ATD:
Hey ATD where is the deals link you speak of? rather just go direct

        • @ATD: cheers ended up getting the $880 flights as opposed to bestjet $821

        • @astrotrain: which date and to which city?

        • @twodollah: june 11-18 BKK. Just had another look and best jet is offering same flight $784

I had a bait and switch pulled by them.

Made a booking for a number of people and paid online. They were the cheapest, amongst a number of agencies, mostly because others charged credit card fees.

A day later get an e-mail from them saying the tickets are no longer available and I need to pay more money to get it. I called Qantas to check and they had my booking logged, but not paid by the agency. By then it wasn't available from others either so I didn't really have much choice. If I had have booked with others or directly though on day one, it would have been cheaper that what I wound up paying even with the credit card fees.

So count me in the group unlikely to deal with them again.

Wow … that is really the worst behaviour.

Better book directly with the airline … https://www.vietnamairlines.com/au/en/promotions/local-fares…

      • +1

The only problem booking via agent is that you will get slugged with change/cancellation fee from agent on top of the airlines fee. If it is just a few dollars cheaper, you'd better book directly with the airlines

  • +2

Great deal OP and nothing against you or your deal, but I would not deal with bestjet.

  • Will the Flight Centre price match this?

    • +1

Flight centre will price match anything as long as you can show the evidence. So you'd need a screenshot of the flights, dates, price etc. only valid day of booking and must be paid in full.

  • +1

Anyone been able to find dates that are $995? The best I can find is over $1100.

    • For London, could only see the 'super deal' rate of $440 x2 (September). Got all excited until I realised that was before taxes. Came to $1,365.

  • I just had a look on their Facebook,
Its not looking very good, a lot of contact me from various people and it seems their customer service is very crap
I will probably stick with IWTF

    • +1

well you dont know too much then, I Want That Flight dont process payments or bookings. They redirect you to companies that do.

      • I haven't used it much but I think the searching of flights on IWTF are better I would rather book it from the airline selling it than anywhere else as if you look at the facebook page of bestjet various amounts of people are very annoyed at the company and the other ozbargain people are in the same boat

OR you can cut out the middleman and book directly through the vietnam airlines website?

    https://www.vietnamairlines.com/au/en/

    Enjoy bros.

  • I used them a few times and including once change of flight time, they charged me as per the policy and was pretty professional.. nothing particular good or bad so as long as the price is good I will be happy to book with them, only thing puts me off is the airlines, would prefer a better reputation or better perception ones like Cathy Pacific or Singapore or even Thai Airway will be better….

  • +4

Once you get your flight details confirmed you could always sweeten it with an optiontown.com upgrade. Not guaranteed that you will upgraded but if you pick a less popular travel time you maybe lucky.

  • Hey OP could you amend the order of the cities in your title? Got slightly confused by the title..

The title sounds like the trip has to originate in London for a return to SYD or MEL and back!

  • +13

Why is this deal getting so many up votes? I have typed in a bunch of dates and haven't seen anything less than $1365 return?
Has anyone booked a deal for less than $1000?

    • THAT is a really good question!

    • +4

This deal has made it to the front page withouut anyone actually verifying it exists!

  • I believe you will be required to obtain a Vietnamese visa which costs at least $50 dollar per one if you need to change a fight in Vietnam. Can any confirm this visa issue?

    • +2

nah not true, you don't need to go through immigration if you have connecting flight.

      • You will need to, all connecting flight to Europe has long layover, some even overnight. I don't think you want to sit in the waiting area for 12+ hours

    • +1

if you have a long layover they provide you with a hotel and a visa if it's more than 6 hours.

if you want to stop in Vietnam use Vietnam Visa Pro pay 8 dollars get a letter for your pre-approved visa and now it's only 25 dollars on arrival to get your stamp into the country.

all other countries mostly get 15 days free now. But not Australia. No one likes Australia.

      • +1

No one likes Australia because we're complete assholes to everyone that doesn't see things the way we do.

  • There is no date at this price can be found. You can search directly on VN airlines website. I believe this is the flight with 2 stops
    i.e MEL-SGN-HAN-LHR and LHR-SGN-MEL

This means you need to clear immigration and will require you to have visa, even the return flight is 12h layover, unless you plan to stay in transit area for 12h, you will need 2x entry visa for both legs.

    • My workmate flew to Moscow 2 yrs ago with VN airline. The stop in Ho Chi Minh city is short, a few hours and you could stay in transit area, but the stop in Hanoi is longer AND you have to out and check in again because of 2 different terminals, so a multi entry visa required for a return trip

  • +7

This is false advertisement, not a single date could be found at that price. The lowest fare is $1300+

The all-in advertised price is $959, airport tax from UK is world 2nd highest, the tax for this return flight is 485.44 AUD, which means the fare must be ~236.78 for each way. You can try to search directly on VN Airlines website to see, there is NONE for this price. The lowest fare is $440 each way.

  • seems to be something wrong, cheapest i found was $440 one way + taxes which makes it close to $1340 return fare.

  • take into flight center and get them to beat it

    • +3

ONLY if you can find a SINGLE date at that advertised price ! Good luck with that

      • was just a general comment for the people who dont trust bestjet.

fyi i just got bangkok airway to paris return for 1080

  • the economy seats on vn air are very uncomfortable

  • cant find anything

  • These right prices come up for flight to CDG and FRA, due to uk airport taxes you are better of flying into other European airports anyway.

    • This is direct on Vietnam airlines website as well, where it does say limited seats. No need to use this bestjet

  • From 29 October Syd and Mel 1st leg will be on787-9 Dreamliners; http://www.ausbt.com.au/vietnam-airlines-daily-dreamliner-fl…

  • Poor customer services, do not try.

  • Stupid question why does the travel period start on 21 Jan? Where these fares this price from 21 Jan? Why are we only hearing about it now 2 months post this date?
Unless someone is going to use a time machine and travel back in time? Lols

  • I couldn't find anything at those price 😞

  • Guys, if you take the Bestjet price to Flight Centre they will match it every single time. This is a far better way of doing things and the only thing Bestjet really is good for, to be price matched.

I had huge issues with Bestjet. Booked a flight last minute (evening before the flight) to London for an urgent situation and despite money being deducted have had no itinerary sent to my email. There was no way of telling if my booking went through, and their website prompted me to contact customer service which is as good as non existent.

I ended up buying the ticket on the checkin counter, but they did promptly refund my money. Partially my problem, but then again I expect to talk to a human should I need to.

Since then I learned to price match at Flight Center, they'll take their time to explore every other option for you.

    • And they Flight Center just slapped me with hugh cancellation fee on top of VNairlines cancellation fee. I made mistake with the date and got slapped with $380 per ticket x4 tickets to cancel.

The airlines fee is only $150usd, the rest is Flight Center fee. These morons agent will rip you off big time if you ever have to change your itinerary.
