Telstra Freedom Plus Rollover without recharge? Recharge Credit lasting ~190 days (and not on Long Life)?

Ozbargainers,

Sorry, another Telstra topic by me..

Background:

  • Using Freedom Plus - Standard Plus Packs (Calls, Data, Night Data, Intl Credit) all expired last night (21/03/2016 23:59)
  • Have not done any manual recharge or creditme2u
  • Have not done any plan/offer changes

My situation is as follows. Despite the expiry of my plus packs last night, I have the following:

  • Roll Over Data (i.e. extended by 28 days)
  • Roll Over Night data (i.e. extended by 28 days)
  • Roll over Intl Credit (i.e. extended by 28 days)
  • Recharge Credit expiry of long-life (expiring ~190 days from now)

With this in mind, my questions:

  • How do you rollover credit without recharging/creditme2u? (Why do I have rollover credit? Why do I not have rollover calls but have rollover of everything else?)
  • Does creditme2u even result in rollover credit? My understanding is it simply extends the recharge credit expiry by 14 days.
  • How do you extend the recharge credit without recharging/creditme2u? (Why is my recharge credit expiring in ~190 days from now?)

However, as per my "background" info above, I did not recharge my recharge credit, which if I understand correctly is what you are supposed to do to trigger the rollover credit.. I also have no idea why my recharge credit is lasting so long.

Closest post I can find to mine is this but is less specific (so yea I've tried looking!)

Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

  • Did you get any extra credits/data due to the outage?

    • Nope not that I know of. Just that the expiry of the stuff I mentioned above got extended.

      • Some users are reporting strange expiry dates - probably due to outage.

        To answer your questions:

        1. Not possible
        2. Transfers of $30 or over (e.g. from PostPaid, or by LiveChat) are reported to have the same effect as a $30 recharge. This is of course not ordinarily possible on Pre-Paid.
        3. You can't.
        • Your answers to my questions are exactly as I assumed, so I guess like you and bonezAU have said, it's something to do with the outage?

That's a shame though. Would've been cool to be able to get extended rollover without expiring. Essentially using all your inclusions over 56 days instead of 28 days!

Another weird thing is that I actually have two Freedom Plus services (mum uses one of them) and the other one is 100% normal. No extended expiry, no rollover.

  • My expiry on stuff has been extended too, it's quite confusing. I just cancelled my scheduled recharge because my dates have all been screwed up. I just suspected this was due to the outage and Telstra have extended our expiry or something.

    • Sounds like that might potentially work in your favour then? Given that you were going to recharge anyway but now you've got extended recharge. That's pretty sweet? haha

    • How long ago did you activate the sim?

  • +1

I lost $700 rollover credit and all my data and international call bonuses. No sign of any expiry extensions or rollovers having been added, so feeling jibbed. The last I heard from them was a SMS on 14/3 stating they were still working on fixing it. Since then, silence.

    Here is the latest update:

They are sure taking their time fixing this, and then again, more outages today. Telstra used to be known as the best network, now it's got a rep as the worst.
