Free Calls to Belgium - Optus, Virgin, Telstra, Google Hangouts, Vodafone

Optus

Optus consumer post-paid mobile and fixed customers will receive free standard voice calls to Belgium from 12:01am AEST Tuesday 22nd March until the end of the month. This includes calls to mobile and landline numbers. Calls made to Belgium during this time will not be charged on your next bill.

Pre-paid mobile customers will receive zero-rated standard voice calls made to Belgium from 07:00am AEST Thursday 24th of March until the end of the month.

The high volume on the network around Belgium may impact calls getting through. You may experience busy tones, recorded voice announcements or the call might go straight to voicemail when calling.

Any customers who wish to discuss their individual circumstances can call our Customer Services team on 133 937.

Vodafone

Our thoughts are with all Belgians following the events which occurred in Brussels last night. We understand some of our customers may wish to contact friends and family in the area to check on their wellbeing.

Because of this, we are waiving the cost for Vodafone customers for international calls from Australia to Belgium from 12am AEDT on 24 March to 5pm AEDT on 30 March. All calls made by postpaid and prepaid customers to Belgium during this period will be free-rated.

Any customers who incurred costs from calls to Belgium between 5pm AEDT on 22 March and 11.59pm 23 March can obtain a credit for the full cost of these calls by calling 1555 (free call from a Vodafone mobile in Australia).

    200,000 dead in Syria
    500,000 dead in Iraq
    26.000 dead in Afghanistan
    5.1 million dead in Palestina
    31 dead in Belguim - Pray for #Belgium… #FreeCalls2Belguim…

BTW did you hear Google offered the US Government tools to assist with the overthrow of the only democratically elected president in the middle east - Syria?

    This world makes me sick…

How'd you get the 5.1 million figure for Palestine? There's not even that many people living in the Palestinian territories

      • No wonder

      • -3

From the date Palestinian territories were stolen by the British & Zionists until today I'm pretty sure more than 5.1 million have perished. Do your homework first.

        • +3

          pretty sure

If you're going to state so called "facts" you need to more than just pretty sure.

Have you forgotten European lives are worth more !?!

Also no mention of Turkey in title…

No projection of the Turkish flag on the Eiffel tower either.
Dead people in European cities get more of a reaction from both the western populations and their governments.

Then they wonder why Western cities are attacked…

No Vodafone. My closest friend's entire family is an hour out of Brussels and were at the airport only 2 days ago.

    • Well, is it too much to bear to buy a $2 Optus sim card and then use that to call free to Belgium? If your friend is so worried surely he or she can afford that or alternatively use Skype free or very cheap to call telephones.

The telcos did not bomb anything so it should be appreciated that they do this when they do not have to and it actually costs them money.

    • Be grateful that networks are doing this at all.

    • Geez wow, ok.. Guess I should've made 2 posts. My comment about Vodafone wasn't directly linked to my personal story. For the record we use What's App and ofcourse in a situation like this I'd pay the cost of the calls anyway. I was merely pointing out a major telco wasn't involved. Now go back to your 10 step methods to save 10c.
