          They are identical other than the G1W-CB having a black ring around the camera, and the G1W-C having silver. I chose the -CB since it is a bit more discrete on the windscreen from the outside.

    "This G1W-C use capacitor instead of battery, it is much safer" <— not exactly true. Once the capacitor discharges, you will lose all the settings. Battery will last longer.
    "Seamless loop-cycle recording function" <— there is a problem with loop recording and protected files. Unless they fixed it with a firmware update.

      No issue with my G1W-C losing settings, the date occasionally resets if I haven't driven the car for 4-5 days, but the settings are never lost.

      Capacitors don't have the tendency to explode when expose to searing high temperatures.

      Lithiums on the other hand will, plus they degrade and discharge SUPER quick if they're constantly being used in a hot environment.

      Also the settings are not 'volatile', and will be retained even if the capacitors are completely out of juice.

    For those who don't know the difference:

    G1W-CB: Black ring around lens (More stealth so people prefer it more)

    G1W-C: metallic ring around lens (Less preferred)

    My G1W-CB has given me nothing but trouble.

    I was impressed with it initially, but the settings kept resetting, files kept corrupting, it started to not record and freeze-up (requires reboot) frequently then eventually melted in the heat of the Australian sun …

    Now it won't record anymore and no it's not the memory card's fault.

    It literally melted off and none of the button are there anymore (it's lost it's shape).

    I don't recommend at all, suggest spending a little more.

      can't vouch for your other issues, but personally had one deal breaker which got me good: it corrupts the last file it was writing to before your turned off your car. for some reason, the leftover power trickle after shutting off the vehicle won't let the device think it is time to shut down, and will keep recording until the capacitor is depleted. however if you unplug from the ciggy lighter before turning off, it shuts down just fine after finishing writing files quickly.
      nice quality and nice 120deg FOV, but that one issue is a big annoyance.
      and no, i'm not unplugging it every time i shut off my car, that's like the equivalent of laying new sheets every night before bed

        I had that same issue as you — try playing the video file from within the unit — that should fix it.

        I think it may be to do with how the cam is not 'closing' off the recording and thus it is 'corrupted'.

        At least that worked for me.

    I have a G1W-C I bought quite some time ago. October '14. Only problem I had was setting Australian datw format. Set in US then change to Oz. Cap has held settings for days (at least 2-3 from memory). Good performer for the money.

      I have this model and it's been great so far. Haven't had any real incidents or problems with it, but it is reassuring with some of the idiots on the road, and having seen plenty of dodgy dashcam videos previously.

    Had my g1w-c for about 2 years now. Sharpie fixed that silver ring and the only other problem ive got was unrelated. I had attached it to my rear view mirror which fell off (thanks aussie sun and heat) taking my dash cam with it and ripping out the usb cable. The usb cable ive repaired, but now i think the actual contacts in the cam are loose too from it. Going to crack it open one day soon when i get a chance.

    No offence guys, but if you are Aussie based why don't you re-write the Chinglish instead of just using copy/paste? (I will admit that I am a grammar pedant though).

    I suppose its good for a laugh but I'm surprised that ad copy doesn't get proofread and grammar checked for the country it is targeted for.
