Been waiting a while for Australian stores to start pre-orders on this phone without luck and found this deal last night.

As the title says, the upcoming LG G5 for around $861 shipped by the 8th of April. This is the international model which covers LTE band 28 (700MHz) and a bunch more which you can check on GSMarena

It is marginally cheaper on Kogan @ $829+Shipping, but they ship a while later on the 21st of April and doesn't come with the headphones which are currently worth $249 according to staticice.

The LG Cam Plus and LG Hi-Fi Plus modules for the phone are also available if you're interested.

Seems like a good price but it also looks like the regular price? I really like this phone on paper but I would definitely wait for reviews and local pricing before committing to buy.

    • Smart move. Same here.

Smart NOT to move YET, you mean?

After leaving Samsung for LG3 & LG4, I am keen to reconcile with Samsung via the S7 Edge. The price of S7E is what still holds me back. LG bores me like Samsung did with S5 & S6 …

        • Likewise. I'm leaning more towards the S7E bcos of its battery. LG's UI is butt-ugly IMO. If there'll be an AOSP build for it later on, good. Almost pulled the trigger on the 6P, but decided against it after playing with a demo unit at Telstra. My M8 still kicks butt. I don't consider the 6P a worthy upgrade. Above anything else, pricing is the most important factor to consider.

          @albert0pia:
I didn't think telstra stocked the 6p, only the 5x?

        • @pranksta: Walked into their store at Merrylands. The 6P, 950 and Z5 were all on display. Pretty underwhelming to me they all seemed. :s

Headphones certainly sweeten the deal. You getting more Bang for your Olufsen!

Wish it didnt have headphones. A discount on the audio module would be way better.

Ppl like me are attracted to it by the audio potential and already have (in my case way better) headphones

    • I've seen someone reviewing this (a boon for being Korean I guess) online, he was mentioning the gap between the modules and the phone body.

Talking about modules LG was talking about backward compatiability on future LG models for the modules. They were saying that it'd be hard to and if future series do end up getting backward compatiability, it'd be via some kind of adaptor.

I did also hear about people's comments on G5 (Again, Korea, the display models of LG G5 are being shown right now), some people were talking about low brightness (though I'd personally wait for some form of formal measurements by review sites, since it may as well be from display models being too hot).

  • Nice price but I'm thinking of waiting till next nexus. The only thing my G4 misses out on is fingerprint scanner. My smart watch save me needing to tap in pin all the time. I am also interested in what HTC brings to the table this gen. They seem to be getting a lot better performance out of the s820 than LG and Samsung.

Not happy that LG decided to reduce size of G5 from 5.5 as originally planned to 5.2 screen. Was really looking forward to this.

I only prefer 5.5 to 5.7 screen phones
