I have this monitor; it's not too bad though my GTX970 struggles at 4K.

    • How do games look when run at 1080p on this monitor?
As clear as running on a native 1080p monitor?

      • +3

They'd look just as good running at 1080p on this, because 3840x2160 scaled to 1920x1080 is an exact 4:1 pixel ratio.

Great, that's what i had always thought but good to hear someone confirm it.

@lordezekiel: Yeah, it's what's so great about these cheap 4K monitors IMO. You can have all that crispy 4K real-estate for regular tasks, and still game in 1080p without it looking weird.

The GTX 970 is suited for 1080p Gaming, so no big surprises there. The good news, is that since 3840x2160 is exactly 4x 1920x1080, you could set games to 1080p and have no scaling distortion (exact 4:1 pixel ratio) and still have a gorgeous crisp image.

I also have this monitor. I think it really depends on what you want to run at 4k @ 60hz.

I have an HD7950 which is pretty average by today's standards but since i use it mainly for office work, it's fine.

The one game i do play is TF2 which i do at 4k. It doesnt have any issues — obviously that's to be expected since it's an old game, but point being, it really depends on what you intend to run @ 4k.

The thing(s) that bother me most:
    - not height adjustable
    - no VESA mounting holds (yes an unofficial (?) adapter can be bought but it's only available in the US)

You've got some balls if you even dare run games @ 3840x2160 on a 7950 haha. What a beast of a card that still is though.

    • I have a 7950 also and thinking of getting this. Our card doesn't support freesync though does it? do you have any issues with the monitor? i.e. input lag, blur, anything? I play random games like star wars battlefront, starcraft etc

Right now im using a 23" Dell U2311h IPS panel 1080p… was thinking this would be handy 4k desktop but still game at 1080? Do you recommend?

I believe the monitor doesnt support freesync either, so if you're planning to upgrade your video card anytime soon then this probably isnt the monitor you're looking for.

As for input lag etc — i really can't say, I'm hardly a 'gamer' (and even if i was, i know for certain no reduction of input lag is going to turn me into a winner).

If you havent heard of Linus (of Linus Tech Tips), he has made two videos on youtube about this monitor where he speaks positively about it given that it's a budget entry level 4k monitor.

as @deanylev mentioned above, 4k is exactly 4x1080p (i.e. it scales perfectly). While i cant see myself getting into any AAA game titles anytime soon, given that i play only to kill time, im ok with settling for 1080p in the future.

        • Cheers. BTW it says freesync on the product listing so…

Well, bought it. Here's to finding out if i can be happy with it !

    • Can you confirm with the 7950 you need to use the mini display port to output 4k @ 60hz? I have the Gigabyte 7950 which has HDMI 1.4a which from memory only supports outputting 4k at 30hz not 60hz so curious how you have it setup?

      • sorry for the late reply.

        Yes it's via mini displayport

  • Seriously considering this. Still have a HD7950 3GB card though. Whats the pixel warranty on these?

  • I bought this monitor last year and sold it within couple of weeks. In my opinion this monitor suffer from a very noticeable input lag compare to my current basic full hd Asus VP278H.

Are you sure its the same one and you set it up right? I saw this on an amazon review "For this monitor, if you're using HDMI, use port #2, as that's the one that will give you 60hz. "

      • -1

I used it with mini display port. And one more reason to hate this monitor is it doesnt come with any speakers built in which mean you either have to use headset or waste additional space in your desk for some external speakers.

        • The speaker issue would only be in the workplace. It's not like you would be listening to music/watching movies/playing games at home using the internal monitor speakers anyway so bit of a non issue for home use.

        • @Agret: yeah agree i use a full scale home theatre haha and occassional headphones. Reviews online all seem to indicate this can be setup adequately but if i do experience input lag/issues i guess gumtree here i come. Im more worried about dead/bright pixels.

  • I have a GTX 980, would this be worth it even if it doesn't have G-Sync?
