Japanese Sanyo Eneloops AA $10 for Pack of Eight at Dick Smith Echuca VIC

1000

How far would you travel to buy a pack of eight AA Japanese Sanyo Eneloops for $10? Because if you go to Dick Smith in Echuca you'll find about 50 packs on the shelf.

I'm on holidays in the area and thought I'd check out the local DS receivership sale. While I wasn't surprised to see eneloops, I was surprised that they were Japanese and at this price.

Attached photo shows reciept, the back and front of the two packs I bought, also had Japanese rouge and glitters at the same price.

Got last 4 pack from Noosa other day. 32 batteries for $40.

Perhaps it's time for Ozbargainers to road trip to all the regional DS stores before they close.

      • +2

        More like Ozb riots

    • What do you do with all those batteries?

      • +7

Power my home hadron collider. Or in truth once you've got kids everything needs batteries.

        • +1

cheaper than a tesla power wall if you can enough of them.

      • +1

Yep kids… And my RC cars use 6 per control. Set for a while now though :)

  • Anything else in the Echuca store, like those fancy remotes? Or LED bulbs?

    • +1

Not that I can remember, but I wasn't looking for those so can't be sure. I picked up the last Goalzero Guide 10 plus to turn my eneloops in to a phone battery and a travel clock so my kids can stop asking me if it's time to get up while camping. Both of those were 75% off too.

      • Had a look, not sure if they were there but can confirm none there now.

    • Shepparton have a few of those remotes left when I was there yesterday

  • went to Camberwell DSE today. depressingly stark. staff were extremely friendly.

    • +4

Echuca staff were not friendly at all, depressed and aggressive when pushed I'd say (refused a woman wanting a refund).

Perhaps the lack of local jobs is hitting them harder.

      • It clearly says no refunds everywhere around their stores.

I don't blame her for being rude.

This lady probably has rent and other things to pay for and has no idea how the (profanity) she is going to pay for anything.

The staff have no idea when their stores are closing (for the final time) so it's really hard to apply for new jobs.

Thanks for not being a jerk! (Serious comment)

I'll assume you mean not buying them all and selling on ebay twice the price :)

he's a customer, not an employee

      • +2

Oh that too ;) You may have missed out on the previous Eneloop deal few hours ago that got taken down because the OP chucked the shits.

        • +2

          Please explain?

  • Just a heads up. about 18 Eneloop packs of

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/eneloop-quick-battery-…
are still available at warringah mall dick smith for about $20 also i saw 1 4 aaa pack

They may have been the $30 like on the site but i don't remember too well

    • Price checked these yesterday and the quick chargers are still the same price as online. Was waiting for them to drop a bit more.

I have noticed that the Sanyo branded eneloops are being thrown out much cheaper than the Panasonic branded stock. I managed to get a Sanyo eneloop charger with four AA batteries for under $10 a week ago. I have managed to score lots of eneloop AA size but yet no AAA :( and the eneloops I am finding are the hot pink ones (the ones that Dick Smith have emulated the look of)

Is the "2012-10" that is printed on the front of the packet a reference to manufacture date?

    • Yes, Production Date

    • +5

      I bet it's still at 70% charge.

  • Really… I have visited at 8 stores in Sydney with no luck of getting these sanyo ones.I got every other type of Panasonic.

    • You visited 8 stores for some scungy batteries?!? Man, there's one power-hungry dude.

      • +1

        Dude, they're limited edition!

        • +2

did you check if they had unicorn meat ……. with what's left at dick smith I don't even waste the shoe leather to go to their stores anymore …..

be interesting to see what kogan does with their online business he bought …….

yes I feel sorry for their staff ……..

Nice find OP. For the reference of others, no Eneloops (or much else) at all at the Woden, ACT store.

    • +3

Don't bother with Gunghalin or Belconnen for Eneloops either.

    • +1

      someone brodened woden

      :)

  • None at Rhodes or Ashfield last time I checked.

    • is there any decent deals still at ashfield?
they close at 4 and the travelator was out until 4:10 so I missed checking it out

      • I was only really there for Eneloops, didn't Check for other stuff.. Sorry mate.

  • Affected by Fukushima?

  • None at Bondi Junction, either. Got the last set of chocolate AAA's earlier in the week.

And I picked up the last yellow metal toolbox full of cheap tools for $12.50, and the last meh quality DS-branded (and it screams this at you visually every time it is powered on!!!) 41.5" UHD TV for $399 yesterday. They still have a few FHD 41.5" DS and ChangDongWhatever sets for I think $303 (which is arguably a better deal, but I figured I'd buy the UHD and experiment with what $399 gets you in UHD just for curiosity's sake).

They have LOTS of headphones for only 30% off. Hopefully those will drop soon.

  • All gone from Echuca. Looks like they had a busy weekend, not much of anything left.
