I was surprised that no one had posted this. Although not the best price ever, it's pretty close! I think it is a fairly good deal for a Sony 55X (rrp $2099 sony.com.au).

This is 15% off the current reduced catalogue price.

Selected Sony TV's are 15% off at JB Hi-Fi until the 31/03/2016.

HN will do it for $1197

This is not 100Hz. Only a 60Hz native panel. It's the entry level UHD TV from Sony, and you're better off spending an extra ~$250 for the midrange X8500c

100Hz is not needed for normal TV/bluray and console gaming, 60Hz is plenty. It will also max out the normal HDMI cable going in.

In fact with LCD/LED TVs @ 100hz the frames be just displayed twice (if its running a 50fps input) and will just get interpolated which can look "artificial" for some types of broadcasts.

unless you are a pro-gamer then you would probably go for something that does 144hz to 200hz rather than 100hz.

Having said all that, i will be sticking with my 1080p LED/LCD TV until the OLED TVs start becoming more affordable.

        You're confusing refresh with fps.

        • And your are not. Kindly explain yourself mr mcfly.

          Correct, I'm not.

        • @RedKelah:
Refresh rate and motion enhancement are not the same thing. Refresh rate is the rate at which the panel refreshes itself, not the rate at which it artificially processes motion for smoother or more artificial motion.

  • will wait another year or 2 before going UHD

    • Yes, Sony would release Super UltraHD (SUHD) after 2+2 (4) years.

      • Yeaps when they do that and uhd prices drops, that's when I would buy and enjoy the uhd

It'll still likely be LED though, so pointless. Higher reslution won't fix LED / LCDs fundamental issues.. OLED will.

This is my line of thought as well. I just ordered a 55" X8500C after using a 32" Sony for 6 years. I'd like OLED but I suspect they'll remain quite expensive for a few more years.

          @44sunsets:

Prices expected to be mainstream in 18 months / 2 years.

    Cheaper at Harvey Norman.

  • I've been using Sony 4K TV for more than 16 months and it's great. I'm planning to buy the 65" if the price drop down to 2500 end of the year.
