Changi Transit Programme (Redeem Changi Dollar Voucher Valued from S$20) - Extended to 30/9/2017

1130

Your transit experience in Singapore is now more rewarding! Redeem a Changi Dollar Voucher (CDV) valued from S$20 when you transit through Singapore, from now until 31 March 2017.

Who is eligible?
Singapore Airlines, SilkAir or Air New Zealand customers whose point of origin, as stated in their e-tickets, is one of the following countries:

Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China (Mainland), Europe including Russia and Turkey, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates or Vietnam.

Passengers’ e-ticket numbers must begin with 618 or 629 or 086, and must be travelling on flights operated by Singapore Airlines or SilkAir for both into and out of Changi Airport. Any connecting flight into or out of Changi Airport that is not operated by Singapore Airlines or SilkAir must be operated by Air New Zealand (specifically flight numbers SQ4281, SQ4282, NZ281 or NZ282) or Scoot (specifically flight numbers TZ591 or TZ592).
Passengers must be on transit in Changi Airport on both legs of their journey, which means Singapore is neither the point of origin nor the end destination. Transit passengers on one-way journey or ticket are not eligible. For example, a passenger whose journey is:
(i) “London – Singapore – Sydney vv” is eligible;
(ii) “London – Singapore – London” is not eligible;
(iii) A one-way journey “London – Singapore – Sydney only” is not eligible.

For passengers who are on transit in Changi Airport for only one leg of their journey, it must be a round trip within a single e-ticket where passenger travels by land or sea from Singapore to the next city or vice versa (to show proof), as well as originates and returns to the same city by air via Changi Airport. For example, a passenger whose journey is:
(i) “Bombay – Singapore, Kuala Lumpur – Singapore – Bombay” AND Singapore – Kuala Lumpur is by land/sea AND in a single e-ticket, is eligible
(ii) “Shanghai – Singapore – Perth, Singapore – Shanghai” in a single ticket BUT “Perth – Singapore” is not by sea, is not eligible;
(iii) “Beijing – Singapore, Bangkok – Singapore –Shanghai” in a single ticket is not eligible, as the end destination city (Shanghai) is different from the originating city (Beijing);
(iv) “New Delhi – Singapore – Kuala Lumpur, Singapore – New Delhi” in different tickets is not eligible.

Passengers must have at least 1 of their transit duration in Changi Airport to be within 24 hours. This is calculated from the Scheduled Time of Arrival (STA) of the arriving flight to Changi Airport to the Scheduled Time of Departure (STD) of the connecting departure flight out of Changi Airport.
Passengers must be above 2 years old at the point of ticket issuance and have their own seat, which means that their seat is not shared with their parent or guardian.
Passengers can only claim the CDV once, on either leg of their journey, regardless if it was issued over two or more separate e-tickets.
E.g. A passenger who has separate e-tickets issued for his itinerary “London – Singapore – Sydney vv” can collect the CDV either upon his arrival in Singapore from London OR upon his arrival in Singapore back from Sydney.

Passengers whose transit (through Singapore) itinerary was issued over two or more separate e-tickets must present all e-tickets to the counter staff.
Passengers without all the necessary documents will not be entertained.
Voucher redemption is subject to the terms and conditions stated below.

Where do I redeem the vouchers?
To redeem the CDVs, eligible passengers can proceed to the iShopChangi Collection Centres which are open 24 hours daily and situated near the GST Refund counters in the transit areas of Terminals 2 and 3. Please present your passport, boarding passes and all e-tickets showing your full itinerary.

The iShopChangi Collection Centres are open for 24 hours.

Where can I use the voucher?
The CDV is valid for one-time use at all retail, food and service outlets located at the transit and public areas, except for outlets indicated in the Exclusion List below.

The CDV can also be redeemed for one-time access to the Ambassador Transit Lounge located in the transit areas of Terminals 2 and 3 for up to two (2) hours. Lounge usage includes showers with basic toiletries, free flow buffet of food and non-alcoholic beverages, complimentary Wi-Fi, and international reading materials.

For passengers eligible for S$40 CDV, you would receive a second S$20 CDV which will be valid for one-time use to redeem Liquor, Tobacco, Perfumes or Cosmetics purchases only. This CDV can also be used at the services / spa area of the Shilla duplex store in the transit area of Terminal 3 and featured brands include Dior, SKII, Chanel and La Prairie.

Seems the value has dropped by half. Still, better than nothing, I will make use of this in a few weeks :)

    • +1

It's still the same. Some countries only receive $20 but people originating in Australia receive $40 ($20 x 2).

      • Excellent!

        • +3

          i farted

      • Sorry, but where is it written that people originating Aus will receive $40?

      • +1

        Correct, I was there this Monday - between 2 of us we received 2 x S$40 (S$20 + S$20) Changi Airport Dollars.
        S$20
is to be used at Cosmetic & Perfumes and Liquor & Tobacco. the other $20 can be used at any outlet who accepts it.
S$40 per itinerary is the limit.

  • Drats, we're flying Qantas.

    • Where to? Sometimes it's sneaky you actually fly with Emirates even if booked on Qantas. And their B777 planes are 10-abreast whitis yuck.

  • Great deal. I've even received one for our infant two years ago (supposed not to be eligible).

  • +2

Used to be valid for one way tickets… not anymore. That was useful with one-way Krisflyer award tickets

  • flew with fly Scoot got $20.

  • I got it last year and really great. Check minimum hours of transit time before you go to the registration box. Otherwise you may be disappointed. As I remember you need 6 or 7 hours transit times but check it out prior.

    • +1

Nope. I got it for 3 hour transit last year

      • I was wrong then. (I am surprised having a minus vote for wrong memory. Just tried to contribute. Being scared of posting now) Check it out anyway. There was a time limit for shopping as I remember to allow the staff to deliver the item (I bought liquor) to the gate (I may be wrong again!..getting old too quick these days :/)

        • +2

All good mate. Gave you a + to even out the neg

        • +1

Yeah, there is definitely a time limit. I was denied alcohol 2 years ago because they said not enough time to get it to the gate :(

  • Thanks. Will be transiting SIN on Tuesday.

  • Will this work for on a Virgin ticket travelling on Singagore flights?

    • Assuming you're codesharing on Singapore (which I think you have to with Virgin?), you should have no problems claiming the vouchers.

EDIT: Just re-read what you said and see that you are travelling on SQ, therefor you will have no problems.

    • Virgin isn't in my experience but please check your e-ticket number

    • Virgin etickets generally begin with 795 and it's not eligible for the voucher . I was refused last time 😪

  • +1

It's an awesome deal. We travelled in December 2 adults 2 kids. We got $80 to spend on anything in airport and $80 to spend on cosmetics. Used it all

I was at Changi 2 days ago and totally screwed this up. Got my vouchers and went to the lounge for an hour or 2. Went to go use my vouchers on liquor about 45 minutes before boarding and was informed I could only buy liquor over an hour before departure. The reason being is that someone from duty free takes the bottles to the gate and you pick them up whilst boarding. I knew this but somehow didn't even think of it. Just thought I'd mention it to ensure no one else makes the same mistake.

    • You could have stilled used the vouchers to buy something else if not liquor..

      • This is true, though I ended up giving my non liquor/cosmetics voucher to a friend as he wanted to buy some electronics (in return he gave me his liquor voucher). Figured I could save them for whenever I'm back next as it doesn't expire for 12 months.

    • +1

I was there yesterday and was told it's 90 minutes. I had just under an hour to departure and got them to wave the time limit condition as my Singapore Airlines gate was close. Vouchers do last 12 months however one of the $20 vouchers is only valid at liquor and tobacco stores so probably best to spend the full $40 on liquor or tobacco etc.

  • We just transited Singapore and received the vouchers. Although it says $20 on alcohol and $20 on cosmetics, we used it all on alcohol! No one seemed to mind.

P.s also we used it on the way back to Oz

    • +3

No one minded because it doesn't say that at all. The first $20 can be used at all retail, food and service outlets - this includes the liquor stores. The second is valid for liquor, tobacco, perfumes or cosmetics purchases only.

About the only thing people need to be wary of is that the vouchers are single use - so if handing them over use all the $20/$40 etc or lose the balance.

  • So is it $40 per person? And can it all be used together? Wife and I are flying to Tokyo via Singapore in 2 weeks. We have a 2 night stopover (as part of our ticket) on the way over and then a 2.5hr stopover on the way back. Are we eligible?

    • +1

      yes, you are …

      • Thanks!

    • In case of confusion you only get them once per eligible ticket - so you can choose to take them either on initial arrival or on the way back. I believe they have an expiry of a day or so from initial redemption. Not sure if there is a limit on the number able to be redeemed at once. Two was certainly possible in January 2016.

      • Are they strict on this? How do they know you're not double dipping?

        • How do you mean double dipping? You provide your itinery or e-ticket to receive the vouchers and they register this in a computer. You then hand over the vouchers to redeem them.

        • They register your ticket number.

        • They have it on their computer system, tried to claim on the way back yesterday however they knew I claimed on the way in. I had two separate reward tickets for in and out and someone above said it used to be per ticket which I thought however I was wrong.

My wife loves SKII which is an absolute rip off, but the $80 discount made it a little more tolerable.

  • Cool if you wanna use the lounge for a quick shower and a few calories to fill your tummy.

    • +2

      Or, you could unloadyourmind

      • it has a mind of its own

  • Can I collect it on first transit and use it during return? And is it $20 or $40 if I start from Sydney (someone mentioned above that for people originating from Aus, it's $40, but I couldn't find that info in the offer page)?

    • Yes you can. I received mine last weekend and they have a 12 month expiry. You will be eligible for $40 as you are originating from Australia.

    • Its $20 voucher to be used in perfume/liquor and another $20 voucher for anything else inside the terminal. This is really a good promo!

    • Thanks a lot guys (sorry for being late, somehow missed this).

  • +1

Any recommendation what to buy. I have already got the vouchers last time, but haven't used it yet. It has an expiry date of a year.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated as I have only 1.30 hours this time. Is there a website to check what to buy? which will save me time.

    Thanks

  • This commences tomorrow — 1 April. I hope it's not a Joke.

    • It's not, they've been doing it for years. They seem to extend it every year or so.

  • Sorry, but I find this so confusing, so just wanted to make sure:
I'm flying Perth - Singapore (4h 15m stopover) - Milan - Barcelona with Singapore Airlines booked one way via Virgin Velocity, then Dublin - Abu Dhabi - Perth with Etihad booked one way with Virgin Velocity. You need a full return ticket via Singapore too, right? So I'm not eligible, am I?

    • +1

Yes you need a full return ticket

      • Thanks for the confirmation

  • I like this clause in their TCs:

'Passengers without all the necessary documents will not be entertained.'

  • So - is this valid both directions if you're transiting Changi going to Europe and heading home ? i.e. $40 + $40 = $80 total.
