Chuwi is one of the better china brands.

    An alternative is the Hi10:

    http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_244794.html?currency=A…

Both 10" quasi netbook things… gearbest is dodgy, just an example. The Hi12 is also a decent choice too but getting close to $300 aud there.

  • Does that price come with the docking keyboard?

    • Good question I feel bit too cheap to include dock

I have 2 chuwi tablet, well made
    Weak points
Like most cheap tabs the cameras are rubish
Non laminated screen - glass lcd then plastic outer cover it tends to scratch easily but must be cheaper than gorilla glass.
    Speakers are not the best
The storage is emmc its solid state in name only dont expect SSD speeds.
That said my 10“ boots into win10 in under 17 seconds.
Wifi No 5G or AC but i get a good reception of 2.4 75mbs even through brick.
    What is good
Screen is vivid and only a hint of motion blur not as good as a nexus tab but better than non retina ipads
Cpu its not a corem or skylake but in windows it does pretty well, does lag a bit in chrome with lots of tabs and flys in android 5
We mainly use them for hulu plus iview amazon prime video or netflix us and in all cases do pretty well.
If I didnt just buy a Core-m Telcast tablet x2 pro for $300 US (surface 3 pro clone) on sale i would have grabbed on of these.

    • Is your opinion based on this tablet, or 2 other chuwi tablets?

      • I cant comment on this tab
        I have a Hi8 older cpu
        Hi10 same cpu similar specs
Both are amazing bang for the buck.
Build quality is good for chinese tablet
        Works with 200Gb microsd
Gaming is possible with last gen games on low detail.(fallout 3 LoL skyrim ect)
For web video or streaming they are ideal, not tested 4K yet, some people have complained about air bubbles in the screen layers in older Chuwis, but these can worked out in most cases. Most sellers will replace if it doesnt. The 8300 atom is a 5 watt cpu dont expect desktop performance but good for the above.

        • Do you know if any of these tabs come with unlockable bootloaders?

It would be nice to replace the Windows with Linux and the android with a 3rd party ROM.

        • @Its4me: Oder Series Chuwi VI series have custom roms
I have not seen any custom roms for the newer Tablets except remix (EFI boot)

        • @sonicentropy:
Did the Hi10 come with much bloatware installed?

    • Thanks for this mate

Since this has usb type c, does that mean usb 3.0 transfer speeds?

  • Presume the price does not include the keyboard.. else it'd be a good deal..

  • It's the HiBook so I'm certain it does include the keyboard which makes it a great deal.

There's a Hi10 which is tablet only and its currently more expensive than this deal.

As far as i can see the Hi10 tablet and HiBook is the same tablet.

Keyboard is not included, using the app I'm getting $238.76 for the tablet only or $311.72 including the docking keyboard.

Looks like its almost identical to the Hi10 with a few differences such as USB-C, 5.0mp rear camera, maybe better speakers, may be other minor differences.

Pity the docking keyboard doesn't have USB3.0 port.

Hi10 doesn't have dual boot per specs comparison posted above

      • Yeah how did I miss that lol
Is the only reason I had not already purchased the Hi10.

  • Damn no GPS need to decide if that's a deal breaker
