Harvey Norman Games Chaos - Mario Party DS $5 - Halo Wars $5 - Many others!

470

Saw the ad on TV so I ducked in.

Picked up about 6 DS games (Not on JB exclusion list) for $5 each.

Also got a copy of Halo Wars for $5

All games were original and sealed.

Stock on the shelf was pretty slim, but they were bringing it out slowly after each person purchased.

Conditions of the promotion specify you cannot buy more than 1 of each game.

thats cheap~! but still using ** card is cheapest :)

  • They had Dead Space Wii and The legendary starfy DS for $5 each

  • Any more info on what games are available?

  • +2

Don't bother with the Martin Place store. They had no idea the sale was on and took 10 mins just to get a list of the games that were on sale. Once they had that, they had no games that were on sale. Got some exercise with the walk though :-)

  • Any idea what PS3 games available?

  • *duplicate

  • +2

Someone from another forum got Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 for $5 each.

Just keep in mind that HN stores are franchises so they will most likely have different stock at different prices. Heck like stubatman said, some stores probably won't even know there is a sale.

  • Argonauts $5 that's all there was for ps3 in Hobart heaps of x360 games. Cod mw2 $39 l4d2 $39

  • was they many wii or ds games at the Hobart store?

  • Yes dozens of DS and a few Wii - I didnt look closely at what - But the $5 bin was pretty cleaned out ( i got there at 5 pm) Gears of War dozen+ copies .. and the Xbox 360 Arcade for … i think $188 … ok price!! Games were priced at $5 $10 $15 $25 - but I found the ticketing misleading as the games were all mixed some had reduce stickers and others didnt even though they were in the $xx stand. Its like they wanted to fill out the stock with full priced games in case a foolish buyer would pick up the full priced game by mistake.

Don't bother with Alexandria Store too. Nothing in there.

I saw god of war 3 at chatswood for $59.

  • just to add in ps3 120 gb console is also $399, at o'conner store WA and i also saw 250g ps3 console + play tv + heavy rain for $598

  • just picked up Halo Wars - $5 and Soul Calibur 4 Limited Edition for PS3 - $9

the guy didn't want to sell me anything, he said he hadn't had a chance to go through them yet, I told him I didn't mind and that I'd find what I liked the look of and get him to check prices for me (they had tons of stock, guessing he wanted to put some out back)

  • any stock in syd stores???

  • FYI - Prices will vary store to store based on stock levels. I went to two stores in Brisbane, picked up Mirror Edge and Rock Band ACDC for $5 each, Guitar Hero 5 for $36.

Best of all, I got a genuine Black play and charge kit for $16.

Like others have mentioned, the staff have nfi what is going on, and the consistency of ticket prices is also bad. Take Gears of War, it ranged from $8 to $25 in the same store. Same goes for a number of titles, so best to ask what deal they can do.

    • Remember guys that if u buy accesories for the 360 you can still get the 20% discout off the RRP on top of the discount your getting. so you can another $7 of the play and charge kit and end up paying just $9.

The full list of discounts can be found here:
      http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/pm/cashback/

  • Thanks for the heads up, I just went to the Lake Haven NSW store picked up Beatles Rock Band for $15, the other notable titles which I wasn't interested in was GTAIV for $15 and Batman: AA, DiRT 2, Resident Evil 5 for $20.

  • No stock left whatsoever in the Auburn store at 5.30 this afternoon, apparently someone came in and bought 1 of everything and because it's school holidays supposedly they were busy during the day with lots of kids buying up

    • I hate people who are like that

  • A mate got NFS Shift for $25 and Ashes 2009 for $40 and Fallout 3 for $10 from Melb CBD store.

    • daym…i went to Melb CBD store today, and they had NFS Shift marked as $40.

using kmart experience (sometimes prices are even lower than the marked already-reduced price), i got them to scan the price as well, no luck…still $40. =(

  • I saw Fable II for $5 in the Adelaide CBD store.

  • nothing (i.e. NOTHING AT ALL) at chadstone… and yet the sale suppose to last for 4 days

    • They miss you…they want to see you in the shop :)

  • Got the following from various stores in the SE of Melbourne today.

    Uncharted 2 - $44
Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time - $44
    Uncharted - $25
    Infamous - $5
    Killzone 2 - $5
    Guitar Hero Metallica - $5
Warhawk - $5 (mainly for the headset)

Some stores had lots of great deals others had none at all.

  • was at wiley park sydney..everything was pretty expensive still.
but there were some which were fairly cheap like
    blue dragon 360 $10
guitar hero world tour 360 $20
    guitar hero 5 360 $20

seeing all the variations in prices in the comments i have
no idea how they come up with their pricing.
they still had G.R.A.W 2 for like $60 and stuff which is just crazy.

    • Was Halo Wars there for $5?

  • I was at Greensborough store at around 4.30 and they did not have much at all - just a small table. A couple of DS games (Jamie Oliver $5 and some sort of fashion game) - they had one copy of Wii Rockband Beatles for $10 and one GI Joe which was also $10. Everything else was PS3 or XBox but they didn't look especially cheap to me. I could see the guy out back with piles of games that I assume he was pricing so maybe tomorrow they will have more out.

  • Is there any interesting xbox360 titles at Harvey Norman Highpoint Melbourne?

  • Not much at Nunawading (didn't look at DS or PS3 though). I picked up a 4gb USB for $12 and the WoW battle chest for $30. The rest was Tomb Raider Underworld and the rest of the same shitty games nobody wants.

    • Second this. Nunawading (VIC) had a poor range. Was hoping for Dead Space Wii for $5 like the others. Instead it was marked down to $40! I asked one HN used-car-saleman-bot to please double check the price. He looked at the label and said "$40"! Standard HN service experience…

Meanwhile over in the TV department an elderly lady had to be given a seat while she was given the rundown by a young saleman as to why it was important to get a power board, a surge protector, extended warranty, etc for her newly purchased wide screen tv to presumably watch Antique Roadshow on… Makes me feel like I'm in a thieves market every time I happen to wander though :-)

  • Is this at all harvey normans? Would like to know if it is at Liverpool

    • +1

there is a sale at all harvey normans
there is a "sale" at a small handful of harvey normans

      • too true… their stores are run very strangely I must say

  • Dropped in to HN at Bondi Junction (I don't have a console but I just thought I'd sticky beak). They had a huge amount of games on the table out the front but not at the prices mentioned here. Halo Wars was $19 and Mirrors Edge was $17. There may have been a few cheaper ones but I'm not that good with their names. The pricing was very inconsistent though with Mirrors Edge boxes for X360 ranging from $17-$21 in the same pile.

  • Morayfield had about 10 copies of Halo Wars for $5 at 8:30pm last night. You still might be able to get one today.

  • Only Cr@p left at Brisbane city.

  • Indoooroopilly store - nothing for PS3 or XBOX as at 9am Friday. Will check again on Saturday.

  • nuffin at noarlunga SA…

  • Will be checking Liverpool HN.

  • had a look at penrith store. nothing that great most stuff still realy expensive. grabbed assasins creed for $5. but it was the only $5 xbox game i could find.

  • Had a look at Highpoint Melb today 10am, Street Fighter iv $15, halo wars $25 and sort of $10 psp games. Nothing special left.

HN Melb CBD is a weird one. Slightly drop from expensive prices on everything, totally waste of time. Maybe at the end of Sunday?

  • Just went to my local HN in Ozzy Park WA.

Didn't have much, although I stumbled across a single Batman AA for the 360 for $5.

They have a basket full of these for $59, but this one was hanging on the wall thingy…

  • GRIZZ let me know how that goes?

    • It was POS.
      Nothing there for $5.
They mostly wanted 30% RRP. eg. Uncharted 2 would have been $70 after "sale".
Cheapest games they had were at least $30.

  • The prices definitely vary from store to store…. Taylors Lakes HN had Mirror's Edge for $15, but at the Sunshine HN it's $10.

For the PC, I picked up Dead Space ($5), Sim City 4 ($5), Sims 2 ($5), Street Figher 4 ($15), Prince of Persia ($10)…. a bunch of Wii games for $10, a couple of PS3 games (there wasn't much of a selection at either store), and a bunch of 360 games for $10 (notable exceptions I also bought were Batman: AA for $15 and Tekken 6 for $20).

  • Plenty of $5.00 games left at Harvey norman @ Domayne Auburn.

    • Bargainaholic was there alot of x360 games there for $5? Fable 2 and Halo Wars???

      • Thepump-From memory there was 2 different types of Viva Pinata games, Madden & tiger woods, Rock band ac/dc software only and a few others for $5.00
There was only halo 3, however it was $10.

Just got back from Harvey Norman Auburn Supacentre. You got to be nice to staff. 1 staff member was kind enough to take me to the back room and picked up few cheap games.
They have plenty of games out at the back. The girl advised me that they fill in the bargain bin on a daily basis so no one takes them all in one line.

        • Good to see they have some nice staff. Given people are only allowed to buy one of each title it would be even better if they simply restocked the products as they ran out like other retailers. Otherwise it just becomes a disappointing lucky dip for most customers.

  • No games left at Woden, Canberra.

    Got for X360:
    Tekken 6 - $10
    Batman: AA - $10

    PS3:
    Mirrors Edge - $2!!

  • HN @ Albion Melb

    Xbox360
    Batman AA $10
    Brutal Legend $10
    C&C3 Red Alert $10
    Lips (2 micros + game) $20

Sort of $10-$15 NDS games (Valuable)

    Non PS3 game

  • Anybody check HN Broadway?

  • Went to preston HN. Nothing left. Only worthy one I remember is NFS Shift on PC for $20.

  • +3

I massacred HN Parkes supply, bought 10 PS3 games (Uncharted 2 x 2, Brutal Legend, NFS Shift, Tomb Raider Underworld, Fracture, Infamous, Mirrors Edge, TW10, Grid) all $5 each, keeping all apart from 1 copy of UC2 (gifting) and 30 Xbox 360 games which I took to eb games and traded for a new 360 Elite. They were cool, let people take as much as they wanted, they just wanted it all out ASAP. They had loads of stock, all gone now though, mate went in and they only had a few DS and PC games left. Best sale ever…

Probably gonna get negged for doing something anyone else in their right mind would have but who cares, its the internet (uhhh, go easy on me, its my first post?) =]

    • +1

That's bloody ridiculous!! Uncharted 2 for $5?! What was the store thinking? :|

    • I wish my local store was like that! Well done!

  • yeah I know, if there wasn't a bunch of other people all wanting a copy I'd have bought more of UC2 but I think I'd have been strung up if I did

  • Is it best to Trade 3 for JBHIFI latest release or Eb games credit?
I used Singstar Takethat X2 and Guitar Hero Metallica total $20 and traded for Just Cause 2….
Did I do well or better option to get credit at Eb Games?

Due to 3.15 Firmware passed on BF2. Not interested in Heavy Rain.
BioS2 we can get cheaper and FF13 nah.GOW3 is dropping fast too.
    I will pay $25 for Uncharted 2.

  • I went to HN City West in WA and yeah… looked like they got really pillaged already.
I'm kinda disappointed that they aren't really re-stocking that often, might give another HN a shot on Sat morning and see if its better. I saw Batman AA CE for $49 which isn't a bad deal (not fantastic as $5 though!)

Was hoping to pick up stuff like Dirt2 and all that but looks like its very haphazard in terms of bargains and very location dependent.

  • -4

The games are cheap because they're overseas imports. Not australian stock. I guess HN just clearing some of non-standard stock.

    • They are not imports, they are Aussie stock, its easy to tell the difference as we are the only country that doesn't allow 18 rated games, there is different artwork on imports, different region numbers etc.
These games are most definitely not imports.

  • Went to HN in Fyshwick ACT today, they had a bunch of stuff for only $1! Managed to get Mirrors Edge, Gears of War, and PGR on 360, Tomb Raider on PS3, Transformers on PSP and My Sims on PC.

Also got Guitar Hero Aerosmith Guitar bundle for $5!! Got all this at lunch time though so not sure how much of it will still be left, there were heaps of crappy games (like Harry Potter) on PC for $1, and a fair bit of stuff for $5, nothing really notable though.

  • I went to HN City West in WA after work

    REALLY rubbish.. nothing at all.

  • Went to HN Indooroopilly and Mt Gravatt - nothing left really. I grabbed Fable 2 for $30 but that's nothing to write home about.

  • …BeAkEr… will it update games(patches)…but not touch firmware?

    • yes, it only bypasses the FW update so you can stay on 3.15, everything else is update-able

  • The stores I visited had shit sales… no games were $5… and even really old platinum games were $20 or more

  • $5 Halo was dependant on how old the stock is. New stock didn't make the list of Halo Wars or similar titles on sale.

I found 3 copies at HN Cannington but they wouldn't do it for $5

  • I think the age and quantity of stock line is just BS that some of the stores are feeding you in order to not sell the games to you so cheap, some franchises don't want to join in understandably.

  • …BeAkEr…
I have always had issues trying to connect to the net with new settings or after removing network cable.
Do I have to change any setting on the "PC Network settings" connected to the computer? ie Preferred DNS server?
Get IP address and then fails?

  • no mate, leave everything as you normally have it except UpNP - Enabled and the new Primary/Preferred DNS settings on the PS3 of course, all the rest as normal on your PC

  • Anyone had any luck with HN at Liverpool. Planning on going today but its probably abit late?
    Anyone?

    • don't bother

went yesterday at 11am, nothing good on sale

  • Harvey Norman in Mentone (the one on Nepean Highway) was still good. I got Zelda: Spirit Tracks (the new one) for $25. They only had one or two left though. I've never seen a new game for that price before, was chuffed!

    • Nup disagree…all gone on Thursday….very ordinary

    • Cryssie Jade - That is pretty cheap considering they are advertising on their website on sale for $48.00

      • $48 is the cheapest I ever saw it for too - before I got it last night. Unreal :o)

  • …BeAkEr….
So Network settings in PS3 Primary DNS change, Secondary leave 0.0.0.0.0 and Upnp is enabled.(but I note it switches Not available and on automatically?? When failed connection???)
    Running network cable from Pc!

This 80710102 Error comes up AGAIN!

  • Liverpool HN had nothing good. (Not surprised really)
Cheapest games were like $30 and all good games including Uncharted 2 that someone mentioned that they got for cheap here at other HN was at least $70.
It seems most games were only 30% off RRP which is pathetic as JB Hifi would normally be cheaper than RRP anyway.

  • grizz i thought that would be the case and didnt go. Lucky I didnt go and waste my time
Everytime HN have sales and what not the Liverpool HN never actually does it tbh

  • Was surprise went back to HN In Perth in City West got theses for a fiver !!!

Wii - EA Grand Slam Tennis
Wii - Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
    360 - Tiger Wood PGA Tour 2010
    360 - Guitar Hero Metallica

    In the Belmont HN

    360 - Gears of Wars

    In Osborne Park HN

    360 - Wet

    Not bad for $5 each

    • how the hell did you get EA Grand Slam Tennis for $5, so jealous right now

      • Footywiz11.. they had 4-5 copies in HN City West if you are in WA.

I thought getting Tiger Woods 2010 for a Fiver was more an amzaing deal!

I'm going back tomorrow to see if there are any new deals!

        • great deal if I live in WA, but unforatunately it seems my two stores I go to have no good games: Chadstone and QV

  • Ballarat HN was mental… floor staff running around like chickens without heads sticking the dropped prices over the games and tons of people standing around like seagulls waiting… you had to wait for an item to have the stuck tag over the top so the counter staff would sell it at the advertised price. I was expecting to see a punch out between customers for $5 buck games!

I grabbed some 'okay' items like ready2rumble, Beatles rockband for $5 each - wacky wheels for $8… but other deals we're a joke.

Saw one lady buy three copies of Indiana Jones Staff of Kings, no doubt will be on eBay soon.

  • Went to the Auburn HN.
Crap prices. Best out of the crap pile was probably Infamous for $29.
    They had Uncharted 2 for $96 :O
    Talk about Sydney HNs…

  • Went back to HN in City West - Perth:

    Wii Fit&&Board for $50
    Wii Active personal trainer $10

Need for Speed Shift xbox360 $5

AM really surprise with some good deals this week coz HN normally disappoint.

  • Got PES 2010 for $10 , guitar hero metallica $5 infamous and killzone 2 all for $5 . Fable II GOTY edition $5 LOTR conquest $5 and operation flashpoint for $20 , PES 2010 xbox 360 $10 and Harry potter $5 been happy ever since
