[RESOLVED] Event Subscription Alerts Are Not Even an Alert

Hi,

I made a few event subscription alerts that I saved from the searches.

I was thinking that once the deal that matches my saved searches, I should get an alert to my mail cause that's what the subscription alerts are for right?

No. This has not been happened, I looked through my subscriptions folder to find the deals being submitted without me knowing!

The Search Alert I saved into aren't even alerts!
How is that even an alert?

At least let us know properly. That bell icon should've notified me or I should've gotten a noreply email.

    Never worked properly. Mannny months (years?) since created.

    Staff know about it, but it's still not fixed. No ETA.

      This is incorrect. You may be thinking of the reminder feature (no email).

      @PeeDee, If you subscribe to a search alert, you should get an email. See here.

      I can see the last alert was triggered on 29/03/2016 - 21:11 and I can see the deal that it sent to you. Can you have a look in your SPAM folder?

      • The search feature searches through comments, titles and descriptions that match the keyword you are searching for.
      • The search alerts search for the title and description (NOT comments).

        I may have mixed-up my terminology, but I have never got reminders… say, for PinchMe deals, or AMEX deals that are coming up. Can you please confirm they work on mobile now? (and when it was fixed)

        I tested other features, such as receiving emails when IWTF posts a deal. Works 100%
        Call me crazy, but I couldn't do the same for a user's deal posts (say, everything TightArse posts, for example).

        PS. It'd probably be courteous to actually answer the poor OP's request (first) /whistle

          Three Different things…

          Reminders will ONLY show

          • on the right hand side above OzBargain Tips (Desktop Site).
          • in the notification box (the bell).
          • at the top of your newsletter (if you subscribe).

          Reminders are there to remind you of a deal at a later time in the future.

          Subscribe to Stores

          • Sends an email out to you when a new deal is posted for that store.

          E.G. For every Woolworths post you will get an email

          And as above, search alert. This will email you if a keyword matches the search (in the title/description).

          Call me crazy, but I couldn't do the same for a user's deal posts (say, everything TightArse posts, for example).

          There isn't an alert for this however every user has an RSS feed (e.g. tightarse) so you can hook this up to IFTTT and have it email you or put it in Feedly etc.

          We do have lots of features which are similar so understand the confusion.

          @neil: Thanks for the detail. Yup, stores works, haven't tried RSS IFTTT (off to google i go). Some long-way messing around, but still options.

          Reminders still not working on mobile is crazy when close to half of all visits come from there. ETA? Not discussed, let alone a priority, makes baby jesus cry.

          There isn't a sidebar on the mobile site (e.g. no OzBargain tips, front page notice). However, the notification should work and you should be able to see the reminder in your email if you open it on your mobile device.

        Hi neil,

        I subscribed to a few search alerts but I have never gotten the emails. Scotty commented below whether my recent change in email address was the case of not seeing the alerts. I have changed long ago. The last alert was triggered recently which should've been sent to my current email address, so even the change in addresses there is still the bug.

        nb. I also checked my SPAM and no Ozbargain related. Already marked them as safe.

          Our records show that you changed your email address on 01/04/2016 - 22:20. Your last alert was sent 29/03/2016 - 21:11, so it would be in your old email account.

          wow I thought I changed ages ago. I checked my old account and you're correct. I saw my alerts.

    @PeeGee — as I have replied your support email, can you please give us an example of deal that you are supposed to receive search alert for? Also it appears that you have recently changed email address. You might want to check whether those search alert emails got stuck at your previous email provider's spam folder.

      Every deal that I have subscribed to! e.g. Anything that comes up for 'shower' I should get an alert emailed to me. But I haven't been getting for any of the alerts.

        Shower — could that be that none of the recent deals have that keyword? I just did a search and the last one is this on 29 March, which you should have received search alert for.
