USB Security Webcam

Hello All,

Recently I seem to have people entering my room while I am at work and doing who knows what. I am looking for a USB webcam that is half decent, maybe a wide angle one, something possibly good in low light as well?

I currently have an old logitech cam I have had for like 10 years which I just set up to record and notice it only covers about 1/3 of my room if that, hence why a wider angle is important. As well as having the most horrible image quality lol.

I am hoping to get it sooner rather than later so hopefully not from overseas, but of course if it is a lot cheaper for a similar product I can just use the cam I have for now until the new one gets shipped to me.

Any ideas guys and gals?

I really want to catch this person because I am getting quite annoyed… -.-

Edit, I also have an old phone, Nexus prime that I could possibly use as a better camera. Any advice for some good software that I could tee up on that?

If you have an old android smartphone or tablet lying around, you can set them up as cameras around your room to watch for any activity.

    • Haha, I just edited to say I have an old phone laying around. I will check it out thanks!

      • Xiaomi made a security camera as well. It's called the "Xiaomi Yi Ants" camera, and you can buy it for maybe $40 to $50 AUD.

Mixed reviews though. It gets compared to the Zmodo. do some research before you buy, try searching various forums and Reddit.

    • Hi Scrimshaw, have you tried this? Does the phone record or you can also view remotely (connected to wifi or mobile data)?

      • didn't work on my device. I got a green screen. Probably incompatible with my version of Android.

        • If it did work a couple of old android phones could make a decent and very cheap home security system.
