    • flybus always has targetted ads

  • +3

they have some decent deals once the trial is over as well - told them to cancel it unless they do me a good deal just for the sports pack - so just the fox sports pack (the only decent thing on it anyways) $20 a month total (dont need the base pack any more)

    • If this is the case, I definitely want to signup. Sports is the only reason to keep foxtel.

    • Serious? That sounds pretty good.

    • Who do you speak to - Telstra or Foxtel?

  • OP, can you please verify where you got this info: "New Telstra Customers: If you are not an existing Telstra customer we will send you a $2 Pre-Paid SIM at no cost to you so that you are eligible for Foxtel from Telstra."

I am not sure if this is correct because I signed up as a non-Telstra customer and initially it all went ok, but this morning I got an email saying:

"Thanks for placing your order with the Telstra Business Online Shop - order no. XXXXXXXXXX

Unfortunately, the plan you've chosen isn't available on your existing Telstra account.

This means we can't proceed with your order so it's been cancelled."

Has anyone else got this same email?

    • i just signed up last night by clicking buy online from email from flybuys and yes definitely saw that line about sending $2 sim.

if you follow the instruction ie register via flybuys email then you better call telstra and complaint.
there no option to register as NON telstra, only two: existing or new

      • Yes, been on the phone for past 1 hour…what a pain!
Nobody seems to know why it was cancelled. Bloody hopeless!

        • well so many many people got cancelled when they buy $30 simcard online without reason so yeah, telstra is amazing

    • Yes, my order was cancelled. Online chat said there was a problem with 'credit management' and I need to talk to the 'Control' team. I'll be calling tomorrow when they're back at work.

      • my wife registered she never use Telstra and everything went well i got installation scheduled for tomorrow

      • After supplying the requested paperwork (3 payslips, proof of address, 3 forms of Id) my account is now unblocked.
Unfortunately the process for this has gone past the end of the month and the promotion has changed. My argument is that it was their process that cancelled the order and that seeing as I applied within the period I should not be denied.

        • After a few calls to Foxtel, I have a new order with last months promotion details, however I've lost access to the FlyBuys bonus points.

        • Installation went smoothly today and now I have negative free time.

        • @roughana: tips, record all those free to air programme and then skip through all the advertisements. save time = priceless!

        • @eisniwre: We are old hands at that. TiVo FTW!

  • Can Foxtel be delivered online via a computer? I only ask as I don't have a TV.

  • Is it possible to go through with this and get the 5000 points without having the dish installed? I don't have cable internet, but I have adsl+2.

    • +1

dont push your luck too hard…

    • Why wouldn't you want a bonus dish and foxtel point installed in your home for free?

I can only think it will add to the value of the house (or if tenanted be a selling point).

    • yes - check if your address can have cable internet :)
      https://www.telstra.com.au/broadband/home-broadband

      • I get this message: "Great news, you can get ADSL broadband

This means you'll enjoy the fastest speed available in your area."
no mention of cable internet though.

        • if it doesn't mention it then that means no internet or foxtel via cable :(

  • I have just received the Critical Info Summary. The installation fee is $100. Min contract term is 12 months with early termination fee applied. What have I missed?

    • Where do you read that from? Email? After i applied online so far i got three emails with subject as below:
      your order from Telstra
      Email bill activation
      Telstra account and installation date

      Nothing mentions $100

      • Yes that was attached to one of the 3 emails that I received

        • Can anyone else confirm this? My partner signed up so I can't see the emails

    • In the same email, under "Understanding your bill", it says:

"You will receive a bill each month. During the free period no monthly access fees are charged for your chosen Foxtel from Telstra subscription. Standard Installation and iQ2/MyStar2 equipment fees will not be charged. If non-standard installation or iQ3 fees apply, these will be charged by the time of your second bill. Once the free offer is due to expire, you will be billed your monthly access fee one month in advance, which may include pro rata charges."

      That's good enough for me.

      • also:

        HERE'S A NICE BONUS
Your package comes with three months’ free Platinum HD subscription. Your service also includes an iQ2 or MyStar2 recordable device with free standard installation and no equipment fee. For non-standard installation, additional fees may apply. The Installer will discuss this with you prior to attendance.

        • Looks like I do have a problem because I did not receive any of the above. Will ring Telstra to confirm before going ahead

        • +1

Just spent 30 min with Telstra helpdesk. Confirmed that this is free no contract. Their email system screwed up I guess

      • How much are you currently being billed by Foxtelstra?

        • +1

Me? Nada. I cancelled as soon as GoT finished :-)

        • @zzyss: Choice. I'm no GoT fan, access to the NBA finals was good.

  • Can anyone let me know when they will be cancelling their contract, to make sure they don't get charged?

Curious to know the best way

    • I'm going to go with 35 days per the T&Cs, since they will bill you 1 month in advance, so if you wait until your third month before you cancel, chances are you'll get billed.

  • turned out previous house owner had foxtel so the tech guy only need like 20 mins in my house - he is happy but said today is busy day many installation. all up and running. got $2 simcard as well on the post. can i just ignore this simcard not activating it, or i will breach the eligibility condition of "telstra customer"

  • Foxtel sales have just told me that the terms of this deal changed on 1/5. There is still 3 mths free but now the IQ2 box and installation need to be paid for.

    • Oh wow just noticed that as I was going to sign up.

      Min cost $177 includes $100 installation, $75 iQ2 box and $2 pre-paid SIM.

  • The original promotion was probably very attractive to bump the subscriber numbers before the planned IPO. But towards the end of April, there was an AFR article that said that the IPO had been pushed back. No wonder the deal is not so attractive any more.

  • Does anybody know when exactly the contract start date is? The date of sign-up or the date of installation?

  • last week after my free foxtel installation (the telstra 3 months foxtel deal and free flybuys points), i got this email from presto:

Presto Entertainment is available for Foxtel for Foxtel from Telstra Platinum HD customers
    Hi xxx
As a valued Foxtel from Telstra Platinum HD customer* you can enjoy a Presto Entertainment (TV & Movies) subscription^, as part of your package until 31 January 2017.

    • Mine was until Dec 2016, but yeah I also received that offer. Wonder if I cancel after the 3 months it will still be valid?

      • no read the email again, there is condition you must still keep the platinum subs, cant downgrade or cancel

  • Not sure if anyone else is having issues with this (from comments, it seems that some people have successfully got this working), but I and a colleague of mine have repeatedly had our orders cancelled/disappeared.

I'm not a Telstra customer, but bought a $2 sim. Applied online and rang Foxtel, who said nothing on their system, call Telstra. Called Telstra, they said nothing on their system and you need to be post-paid customer, not pre-paid. Argued the point and they said go to a Telstra store and they'll fix it for you. I cbf.

Colleague is already a Telstra customer. He's now had his order cancelled/disappeared for a second time.

Not exactly a great first (in my case) customer service experience for either Telstra, or Foxtel!!!

    • no surprises. telstra outsources a lot to overseas. this is example of why outsourcing can be a fail story.

    • I signed up on I think the 16th of April? Missed a call from them, contacted them 2 weeks later saying haven't heard anything, they said they'd put a note on file to call about installation times, nothing. Not sure whether I should contact them to cancel or just leave it go

  • confirmed received the 5000 flybus point, around 20 days after installation date. wohooo!

  • So, the 35 day before expiry of the offer is almost due for me.

Looking on the manage your telstra site it appears they have switched me from the basic home phone and cable plan to their Unlimited and Platinum HD bundle.

    That costs $230 per month.

Previously I paid $80 per month for 100GB and phone rental.

I am willing to bet those who took up the offer might not be aware that they were also bumped up to the same account with the Platinum HD bundle, and complaints will arise when they miss their cancellation deadline and they receive their first billshock.

  • Was anyone able to order a free pair of power line adapters with their free 90 day subscription?

    • Can confirm they are still freely available

  • Rang today to cancel Foxtel as the 3 month free sub finishes tomorrow. Was offered 2 additional months for free….non HD and I could choose which 2 packages so we got Sports and Entertainment.
