      AA is doing the same dates for $5249 (dep Sydney). Thats not bad, but I'm not really up with Business class prices.

      Unfortunately its hard to tell. Pay attention to the fare class closely. For international flights to the US, VA only allows upgrades on the Australian City to LAX route (SYD -> LAX) or (LAX - > SYD). You can upgrade from Flexi Economy (fare classes : Y, B, L, K, H) to Business for 45,000 velocity points, or from Premium Economy (Fare classes : W, R, O) to Business for 25,000 velocity points. Its also possible to upgrade from flexi fares to Premium Economy for 18,000 velocity points.

      These fares, at least from my quick examination, booked to Q, V, E, or U. None of these would qualify.

      Please note, Virgin Velocity only allows Long Haul international upgrades to Gold and Platinum Status fliers.

    Whinge time. I booked my kids tickets from NY to Melbourne return six months ago using QFF points. So beside the points it cost Aus$1200 TAX for EACH ticket. Thanks, I feel better again.

    Thanks OP, BNE-LAX-EWR, under 28hrs each way, inc layovers, for $990 on Virgin/America. Only hope I can upgrade to Premium Economy for the jump across the Pacific with points…

      When you enter a search, choose 'price chart' when you are selecting the dates. This is on desktop only.

        thank you. seems like this deal is to many cities in US. Can I book multi stopovers. There are 2 x transits there and back. Does fare allow to stop at both transits as well New York destination and LA on way back?

        You can do Bris - LAX - Salt Lake City - Mississippi - LAX - Bris. It's really cheap if so.
