In Benson Leung's review, he stated

In my testing, this cable is NOT USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 capable. It is purely a USB 2.0 High Speed cable A-to-C cable, with only 4 pins on the Type-A plug. This is false advertising, as consumers looking for a USB 3.1 capable A-to-C cable to use with their MacBook in Target Disk Mode, or to transfer files at SuperSpeed with their Pixel C may buy this cable and not have that functionality.

Store rep, can you confirm this cable comes with extra wires for SuperSpeed signaling.

    • Note: Benson's review does NOT apply to this cable. it is for the braided cables.

however, your question remains relevant, and I would like to know the answer to that too! :)

also, if rep could confirm whether this cable has the correct resistors like the braided cables.

This isn't an a to c cable, it appears to be c to c. Aren't the resistors for legacy "a" connectors on one end only?

        • Uh, it IS an A to C legacy cable…

Edit: didn't neg you, BTW. (Honest mistake, I assume) :)

        • @caprimulgus: yeah don't know what I what looking at …

        • @CheepCheap: The title - it actually says it's a USB-C cable.

    • Thanks, When I saw this USB type C cable deal here I immediately thought of Benson Leung.

    • ?

Data Sync Speed: Up to 5Gbps

I ordered one in the last deal and it still hasn't come. Expect long wait times if you order this.

    • I get an extension to the wait time every 2 weeks.

  • Anyone thinking of buying this needs to read the comments in the previous deal.

To me the choices are pretty obvious - if BUG confirms this cable is compliant definitely go for it. Until then, don't risk it.

    • Who is BUG btw?

    • Hmm, I don't understand the previous Bug quote that USB-C >FORBIDS< voltage great than 5V. Googles Pixel C charger supports 5V, 12V or 20V charging. Does that mean Google is doing something forbidden with their charger?

      • I don't understand the previous Bug quote that USB-C >FORBIDS< voltage great than 5V

The issue isn't with the change of voltage, the issue is with changing the voltage in a non-standard way (eg. QC.)
Current USB Power Delivery spec. allows up to 20V/5A, so even fairly beefy laptops will be able to use this to charge.

I have received 3 cables. It all maxed out at 1280ma while Joyroom cable I have bought maxed out at 2500ma on the same charger for my Nexus 6p. I have concluded that these cable may be fake. I suggest you guy to cancel your order if possible.

    • Good to hear someone has tested a few cables first hand. Do you mind me asking how you measured, might do some myself.

        • Thanks, that's a new one to me, will give it a try. Had used a Samsung 'Galaxy' app but it didn't seem to keep up with Samsung QuickCharge, and I'm not sure my USB measurement tool still works on the newer techs either - this will give me a chance to compare.

    • thanks for reporting back, DK! glad i avoided buying!

    • Joyroom cable

They are not BUG approved either…

      • It shows you that you can never be certain when dealing with these online stores. I bought the Joyroom from Expansys.
