  • Very Tempting at this price! Now just to find a way to justify buying it!

  • is dis good?

    • The Tv? Its a Very Nice Tv, Great PQ and looks good too

  • +2

I've bought one from South Wharf The Good Guys 3 weeks ago for $1099 using the April David Jones catalogues. The Good Guys took another extra $20 off from the David Jones price ($1119)and have plenty of stock.
Even though they are a bit more expensive, but at least you save all the trouble from applying the Myerone card and can get the TV sooner.

  • How would this compare with my current KDL-40V5500?

    • +1

      EX500 - 100Hz, 2010 model
      V5500 - 50Hz, 2009 model, this i think is replaced by EX400

    • +1

The V series was formally Sonys entry level model. The W or EX500 series have both 100hz and Motion Flow technology , an improvement for sports and movies. I am sure there is a difference in colour engines as well but thats probably minor.
There is no EX400 in the 40" size.

  • How does this compare to KDL40W5500 series?

    • +2

The W series is officially the equivalent model…..but I think the W has better speakers ( fire forward instead of down ) and I think slightly better off axis viewing. Just step to the side a couple of feet and you ( or I ) can see the lustre come out of the picture.

That being said for an entry level model ( now Sonys bottom of the range ) it represents good value for money.

    • Its touch and go between them.
The main difference is probably the samsung is a reflective screen adn the sony is more anti reflective.
The samsung is also better at media playback but the sony would have better speakers I think.

The Samsung LA40B650 is available in ' The Good Guys ' WA stores for $979 for the next couple of days and that maybe the same country wide so give your local store a call. This is to clear the model for a new one late this month.

  • Hi guys, picked up one today from JB-hifi for $1055. Told the guy my best price was $1070 today and they beat it by $15. Fantastic deal thanks to Myers.

    • Yep, we did the same and JB Hi-Fi did $1,050 no problem at all. Interestingly the Sony Centre said they could not sell at this price.

      • Wow for that price u reli can’t complain, can you please upload the receipt? Thanks..

  • Will myer still be selling this tv for the same price, $1071?
