Jetstar Platinum Mastercard 40,000 Qantas Pts $3k Spend within 60 Days. $69 Fee 1st Year

190

Hopefully this is not a dupe.

It looks like a pretty good deal for 1:1 non-Amex card for Qantas points. The annual fee go up to $149 after the first year though. BT 0% for 14 months is great too.

From the website:
Apply and be approved for a Jetstar Platinum MasterCard before 31 May 2016 and spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within 60 days of approval to receive 40,000 bonus Qantas Points. Plus, transfer your balance from your other cards and you'll pay 0% p.a. interest for 14 months from card approval. You'll also save on the primary cardholder annual fee in your first year and pay just $69.

Are Qantas points the same as QFF points?

    If not, what's the difference?

    Thanks

To be eligible for the bonus Qantas Points offer, you must apply for a Jetstar Platinum MasterCard before 31 May 2016, be approved and opt-in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards. Receive 40,000 bonus Qantas Points if you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases within 60 days of card approval. The 40,000 bonus Qantas Points will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer Account within 60 days of meeting the spend

      yes, they are the same

    • The odd thing is you can't use QFF points to upgrade a purchased Jetstar flight, which is who i'd assume they are targeting this at! Well i couldn't when i tried. Not that there was no availability, but they specifically say, you cannot use QFF points to upgrade a Jetstar flight! So realistically if you are mainly a Jetstar flyer then you can only use this for purchasing flights which is typically not good value.
Before someone says something, yes you can use them for airliones on the One World network, the Qantas Store and probably a bunch of other places. I was just highlighting the Jetstar scenario because it's a Jetstar card.

  • Anyone know if i can transfer my parents credit card balance or it has to be under my name when do balance transfer?

"spend $3,000 on eligible purchases" - Usually eligible purchase don't include balance tranfers, cash advances or gambling.

  • This deal has been around since last year. However, this card is one of the only Visa/Mastercard credit cards that pays 1:1 QF points per dollar spend.

    • Woolworths Qantas credit card, I believe, also pays 1:1 QF points, but there is limit of $2'500 QFF pints per months which makes Jetstar crdit card better deal.

    • Bankwest Qantas World Mastercard also pays 1:1

  • Would an eligible purchase count as Qantas flights purchased through Qantas website?

  • Is there a way to take advantage of the 40000 bonus points AND the 0% BT offer?

As I understand, once you take up the BT offer, you can't use the card because there is no interest free period.
How do you also spend the $3k without incurring interest and fees etc

I called Jetstar with questions about the card and the customer service rep said, "Eh? That promotion is still on? Oh we'll definitely honour it but please take a snapshot of the promotion and submit it along with your application."

I think what it is is you can't get to the 40k bonus link without being transferred from the Qantas website or without the direct link so in case they mess up the app, it's safer to have proof that you applied for the right one.

  • applied. not bad. thanks

  • how long does it take for Jetstar to send the card out after application ?
    Anyone ?
