  • This seems to be a fairly good deal actually from a look around the grounds…

  • It seem to be the same Unit in HT

    http://www.ht.com.au/part/X6918-Toshiba-Tecra-A10-C2D-P8700-…

Comes Bundled with a Bonus Port Replicator valued at $250

  • Aint too shabby either (bluray drive) if you don't mind the bigger screen and extra 400grams ….http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360250862898#ht_7755wt_1061, cheers

    • Buy a laptop off ebay?? Not a deal.

  • great price, terrible screen resolution

  • Alex F, what do you mean terrible screen resolution… What is it not suitable for?

    i think people are expecting 1,400 x 900 or something for 15"

1yr warranty is slightly on the short side too

    • At the very least. At 1280x800, you effectively can use effectively just one Window at a time… Microsoft Windows becomes Microsoft Window! Understandble for a small sized screen, but not 15.4".

Price seems to be bog standard normal.

You can get a Dell Inspiron 15 with the new i3 330 CPU (slightly faster than the P8700, and better power efficiency) with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB HDD, a 15.6" 1366x768 WLED LCD and dedicated graphics for gaming for $843 from Officeworks.

I completely agree. I've been shopping around for a new laptop recently and this "deal" just isn't up to scratch with many of the offerrings out there. You can get a Dell Vostro series laptop, Core I-5, Nvidia 310m, ~$1000 (after 15% off - 8% coupon from moneybackco + 7% cashback from moneybackco). For it's size (15") this lapop is pretty weak… I'd rather pay an extra ~$200 for a tougher, lighter 13" with a longer battery life

      • Bahumbug! I accidently hit the positive instead of the negative (stupid giant thumbs). Can a mod please change my vote to negative.

  • Positived for Topbuy's effort to try to better their deal.

  • i agree, price is pretty standard. There are sub $900 Core i3 notebooks nowadays with better screen resolutions and 4gb ram.

  • I would rather this than a Dell thats for sure.
Good value thanks for the post.

OK, how about an Asus from Umart for $935?

      Core i3-350M, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, 15.6" LED LCD, 2 year warranty.

Seriously, if you look around there are better i3 based notebook available for either the same or a teeny bit more (for serious feature improvements).

EDIT If you prefer Acer, here's a Core i3 one with a 500GB HDD for $795 inc shipping.

Or a Samsung for $938 delivered or $899 without delivery, with a Core i3, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, dedicated graphics…

      • good find…. well, topbuy seldom has good price

    • I would prefer Toshiba to Dell as well although its like comparing a 1-2 year old Toshiba to a new Dell, in that case i would gladly take the new dell with i3 etc

  • This is one of the expiring models from Toshiba. You are get better hardware setup in the new Intel I3 I5 laptops from ASUS, DELL.

I recommand you all to checkout deals and models from sites like www.onlinecomputer.com.au and www.msy.com.au Finally compare these prices on www.staticice.com.au

    • agree.. for sydney, onlinecomp seems to have good prices (and city cbd shop so you can touch the notebook before you buy)… msy, well, ppl said they have not many stock

  • Why would people buy this? Who spends $800 without doing their homework? tantryl listed some excellent alternatives
