    Chukka Boots Just $169.95

    Seems expensive…

These are made in China nowadays. My pair - purchased 20 years ago - Made In England.

and that makes it better somehow?

In my experience Chinese factories are more likely to cut corners where possible, produce a higher rate of faulty goods, and require really stringent QC once the goods arrive back at home base to reject all the dodgy items . Manufacturers inn Europe tend to have a little more attention to detail. Something to do with work conditions - a 16 year old girl who lives in a shared dorm on the factory site and work 15 hour shifts for $2 an hour is probably slightly less likely to take as much pride in the quality of her output than an adult that gets to go home to their family at a decent hour, gets paid well and is given good employee benefits by his company. Things have slowly been changing though.

        so wat?

  • This isn't so hot. Timberlands (Melbourne) and Platypus had entire ranges of Timberland's for around this price.

  • I dunno the big deal with these, I look equally as good with my steel-capped construction boots thank you very much.

  • The 90s called… they want their shoes back
