That's why the black isn't the bargain ;)

Nice looking jacket but I already have two others and can't bring myself to but another.

Seems like a good price too.

Be wary of the back protector because it sounds like it's not CE rated.
If it's anything like my other dririder jacket, the back protector is a flimsy piece of foam that really wouldn't protect much against anything.

I almost ordered it too….then GF pointed out I already have a brand new Dri rider in cupboard…..

Almost want to get it anyway.

Upvoted so hopefully we see more motorbike deals come our way

      • +4

Yeah I had to stop myself from ordering one too lol. Will keep an eye out for more motorbike deals :)

      • get rid of the GF and buy buy buy? :)

        • +2

I manned up and went to buy it and face consequences after…..but all sold out.
Probably lucky, but now feeling I missed out. I did have it in basket on website …..

Besides, the GF comes with other benfits and bonuses…..

    • I have a friend who broke his back in a dririder jacket so I guess he can attest to that. Obviously having a jacket is better than nothing and every accident is different but padding is definitely on the thin side.

      • Would any jacket protect from that kind of injury? I imagine to protect against impact injuries you would need something hard like a helmet.

A jacket is for graze injuries?

Perhaps someone that rides and knows about various prodcuts available can put in their 2c

        • That was kinda my point that perhaps any jacket wouldn't protect you from such an injury anyway?

Although that said the thicker the foam/padding the more impact absorption.

On a motorcycle best policy is crash avoidance, thereby never having to test out the safety gear anyway.

        • +1

personally, i look at my riding gear as protection against grazes and gravel rash rather than protection against impact of any significance
i.e. dress for the slide, not just the ride

in general, i find that the back armour in the jackets that I've seen aren't CE-rated or only rated to level 1. for better back protection, a dedicated back protector should be worn or slotted in to the jacket in place of the armour it came with.
that's not to say that there aren't jackets out there that have very good back protectors, but just in my experience they're not as common.

        • You're wrong. There are back protector inserts made of materials that flex normally but harden at impact. They are not going to prevent injury in all accidents but certainly will go a long way in improving your chance of survival and in prevention of injury

I have 2 jackets already … seems like it's time to get another one.

    Damn, I'm a Large… Good deal.

  • I'm going to buy to fish for facebook likes

    • ?

      • +2

I'm going to wear it, put on my cheap sunny's, sit on my push book so I looks like I'm on a motorcycle and take a selfie. Facebook likes guaranteed!

        • You need to proofread.

        • @cowiie: what, you never heard of a push book? You need to get out nore.

        • @Mr Unreliable: nope but it wasn't just that ;)

  • This jacket doesn't seem to be in the catalogue, or am I missing something ? I can only see NORDIC 2 and 3. Is this out of production ?

  • +1

    Bought one thanks OP!

Yes I also already had a dririder jacket but it is 3yrs old, surely good enough justification to renew it! :P

  • +1

Any comment on the fit? I'm between a medium and a large normally so am hoping this is a losse fit.

  • Damnit, had a medium in my cart and was going through check out, then out of stock. My years old Aldi one is now due for replacement.

  • +1

I've had one of these for about 4 years. Admittedly it's been worn heaps, but after a while all the Velcro on the cuffs and neck wore away. Also, the waterproof membrane on the inner lining came away very quickly. Finally, this waterproof lining must be attached to the winter quilted lining, hence only useful in winter or it's too hot.

    • Dririder gears are average at best. My colleague had a glove that had the seams disintegrate within a few weeks of use.

Probably worth it at this price but certainly not at the original price. Much better stuff can be had for that sort of money from online stores such as FC moto especially if you look for closeout sale items.

  • I might have ordered the last one.
Hopefully the size is good, sometimes can't be sure when ordering online.

    • The size chart is pretty accurate. My current jacket seemed to be exactly those sizes.

      • I was a bit confused with the sizing chart, it said 2XL pants were 38" on the waist, I often buy 2XL pants/shorts and I can definitely not fit in something with a 38" waist.
Hopefully it's more accurate for the jacket size otherwise it looks like a tight fit in which case I might have to send it back :(
Does anybody know if the waist measurement on their sizing chart apply to the jackets too?

        • +1

I think you should be alright mate. My DriRider jacket is a size L which is the equivalent to a 34" waist. I'm definitely not a 34" waist haha.

I actually watched this video to get an idea of how to measure everything. He explains it all really well.

@cala90: good stuff, and thanks for the link too :)

        • @JV159:

          No worries!

  • Peter Stevens looks to have a good returns policy, for sizing changes etc.
Anybody dealt with them for that? Can confirm?

  • DAMN! missed out…

  • Would have paid extra for the black one although my size is sold out.

    • I don't think I would have paid the extra $50 just to have black. Not that I ended up buying one of these anyway :(

  • Why in the world…. Nvm wrong store

  • My order went through but I got an email saying they were out of stock. Not going to neg the deal though.

    • Really? That's disappointing! They must have overestimated stock levels.

  • Received my 2XL jacket today, it's way too small. The sleeve length and length of the jacket were fine, on the tummy and shoulders way too tight
