  Thanks OP mine is pretty worn out. I wonder does this have the magnetic thingy that switches off when closed ?

    If it's the original gen 1 (2012) case then it doesn't have the magnetic wake up. That was a feature that was of the tablet that was curiously unannounced possibly through copyright fears(?).
    The original official case was pretty disappointing. It's a slimline silicon case with a floppy cover that had no fastening.
    The drab grey colour didn't appeal aesthetically either.

    The guy in store said they dont sell the nexus 7 itself.

  Got a 2nd gen (2013) from Thomastown vic.

  Had to find it on the bargain bin table, it has a blue box if anyone's looking. The label indicates that its an orange case, but my one is green. Still said $25 but the guy changed to $5 no problems.

  The case is thin and rubbery, and also see through. You can see what is on the screen, a little blurred, while the case is closed. This also means that it doesn't have magnets to lock it when you close it. Doesn't have any ability to stand on its own, and probably doesn't protect well if dropped.

  It is green though?
