Is that the Delivered price ?

  • Does the coupon work with the 10x50 one?

    • Hi Werty98,

      This coupon only for 7x50.

  • It's around $52 shipped (more for express shipping)

  • Any deals on rifle scopes?

  • That's awfully cheap, we sure they aren't Povvo Binos eh?

      Hi Hamwhisperer,

This binocular for sure is not a piece of toy. It has standard size and fully coated, a little bit heavy (770g), but really nothing much to complaint for this price.

I'm stirring, relax. Povvo is Aussie slang.

Read that as Porno binoculars , had to re-read a couple of times

I have a small collection of cheap binos bought a few years ago when the Aussie dollar was high. I even wrote a guide for buying cheap binoculars here:

    http://www.progsoc.uts.edu.au/~sammy/astronomy/Adventures%20…

I've only held the Nat Geo 8x42 binocs sold in Aldi in my own hands so I can't comment on this particular pair from experience. The 8x42 pair I tried did not separate wide enough (inter pupil distance) for my eyes so I immediately returned them. The optical quality wasn't terrible and I was sad to let them go but they literally didn't fit my face. Which is surprisingly bad design - my face isn't that wide and I haven't had that problem before. Nat Geo brand includes some okay gear and some really horrible gear.

Note that 7x50 is an ideal size for Astronomy. However:

    1. They're not Fully Multi-Coated (FMC), they're just Fully Coated. That said I have a pair of cheap 7x50s that are also not FMC that are good. But you can get FMC for under $100. However the ones to avoid are the ones that are uncoated or just coated (meaning some of the glass surfaces have no coatings. So this one is okay.

    2. I can't tell if these are BAK-4 or BK7. BAK-4 tends to be better but more expensive. So I'm guessing BK7. The same pair I mention in point 1 are also BK 7 and quite usable. You can see images of what BK7 looks like in my pdf linked above.

Other sites suggest these things have a tripod mount.

If I tried out this pair there is a chance I would want to buy it, but I'm not willing to take the risk without trying it out. Besides I don't need another pair of binocs. (My wife would just shake her head). I'd still be tempted if I knew for sure they opened out wide enough for my eyes. At least these have manual focusing and aren't the focus free rubbish I sometimes see getting pedaled as a bargain.
