Acer Notebook $437 (after Cashback) Celeron T3100, 2GB Ram, 320GB HDD, 15.6" LCD, Win7

50

I'm thinking of getting one of these myself as it's cheaper than getting a Netbook.
Of course Netbooks are smaller and lighter and have longer battery life but I think this notebook is a good deal.

Not sure how good the Celeron T3100 is though as well as the graphics chip 4500M.

JB Galleries Victoria has them for $528.60 after cashback and refused to beat or match this price but I've heard they were pretty crap. Might try JB World Square and see if they'll beat it.

  • If you're after a cheap 15.6" screen and you only need to browse the net and write documents, it's probably ok. Still, it doesn't really have a lot going for it. Pay a hundred or two more for not so yesteryear tech.

  • Single core CPU, It doesn't work fast

    • it says "Dual Core T3100" ??

  • I just ordered one. It's mainly gonna be used as a torrent downloading machine overnight. Other times it'll be used for net surfing as well as the occasional video. Maybe play some mid-2000 games. They should run.

I thought the T3100 was dual core?

    • fyi, i bought COTD deals, very similar.. only mine is 2.1GHz, and LED backlit display..
it was $549, no cash back.

      i think this $437 is better…

oh btw, i suggest you extend the warranty…

      • Oh how come? Is it worth getting an extra year of warranty?

        • Some Acer notebooks just die after one year. So the $19 extra warranty might well worth it.And i also read it as dual core.

          • @Saturday: Forgot to mention, i also have a BankWest credit card which gives one year extra warranty on products you buy with this card. So if i buy with this card and pay an extra $19, may finally end up with 3 years warranty?

        • coz majority people in this country believe acer isnt good…
i should bought $437.. extended warranty is $25 i guess? cheap..
