InSystem iPad Charging Stand Silver $39.00 (Was $69) @ Officeworks

100

Just saw this at Officeworks North Sydney, Not sure if other stores have it too.

Seems like a good speaker for listening to podcasts while cooking in the kitchen.

  • Pretty sure it's all stores. Saw the same thing in my local

Purchased one a while ago - Surprisingly good, even for the $69 I paid.

Sound is quite good, using it as an instore iPad/POS holder, that also plays music..

    • Hi GC, can you confirm does this device have lighting port or the old ipad1/2 port?

Hi, It's got the Lightning 8 pin port

  • is it suitable for ipad 12.9?

Doesn't look like it has a lightning connector so for old devices only.

The Officeworks website says this is suitable for ipad 2 to 4 only, so presuming it only has the old 30 pin connector. If so, I'd say this is still overpriced!

  • I can't believe they don't have wireless charging yet in 2016. I just bought a $4 mat on ebay for my Galaxy Note 2 and a $20 stand.
My phone is charging at night without wires now and acting as a bedside clock.

(I just got a new ipad pro too, so I'll deal without wireless but it really is quite nice)

    • I can't believe they don't have wireless charging yet in 2016.

It's still a trade-off technology, unfortunately. It's dog-slow compared to quick-charge cables, and most phones now are metal-backed and trying to be as razor thin as possible.\

It'll take off once an iPhone adopts it.

Also, the iPad Pro has a 38.5Wh battery. I wouldn't want to charge that on a 5 volt 1A standard QI charger.

      • I thought they have QI standard 2 and 3 now.
Also it's about convenience, if it takes more, ok sure - but you put it down on the pad overnight or next to the coffee table you know?

How do they do it on the S6/S7 and stuff?I know they have a glass back but isn't it metal under?

        • Looks to be glass with plastic underneath.

On the other hand, supposedly the S7 does support proper fast charging - but even the Samsung "Fast Charger" pad is limited to 7W - which would still take hours and hours for a normal phone, let alone a tablet.

15W wireless charging should be on the way later this year. That's as fast as wired.

        • @KentT: Damn that's crazy powerful. I am very happy even with the crappy version on my Note 2, it takes most of the night with the screen display on super dim (night clock mode) but no cable is great. I will say you'd need 15w to charge an ipad from empty to full overnight for sure.

  • I can surely confirm this will work with idevices that have lightning port.

Just picked one up. Does have lightning port, but holder is designed more for ipad 4 than ipad air. Ipad air sits in holder ok in portrait mode, but a bit loose in landscape position. Also includes holder for ipad mini and iphone.
