Please add shipping of $10 which kills the deal!

    • +3

I don't think it kills the deal at all. Similar locks are $16.35 for 2, i bought 4 of the harvey norman locks for $4, so including the $10 shipping its still cheaper

      • +9

That is just an opinion. As a true Ozbargainer, this would have made more sense if there was the option of picking it up!

      • TSA locks do nothing. its the personification of security theatre. the locks are completely pointless because they can be bypassed very, very easily by a method that basically everyone knows. from the moment you lock your bag and hand it over anyone that wanted to remove or put something into your bag can do so.

        • The reason why they exist is so that your baggage can be inspected without them cutting off your locks. Apparently this is particularly so in the US.

        • @Make it so:

yes, thats obvious. my point is locks on your zippered bag dont lock your bag. If you DOnt want your locks cut off by security dont put locks on your bag and better still dont buy them in the first place. they dont do what they promise to do. wether its a security guard, a thief, a drug smuggler or a 3 year old they can all gain access to your bag quicker than it takes to unlock it.

      • 5 x 4 combination TSA Locks

I bought (one of) these and must say they're very good. @$25 theyre about $5 each, but i'd say worth it.

  • are the credit card protectors any good?

    • I have yet to test them, but for $1 i was willing to try them. I can post tonight if they work or not.

    • +8

They go well with foil hats.

    • +2

Put two RFID cards on top another, the scanner won't be able to recognise. Useless item IMO. Most people would have more than 1 card with RFID technology.

      • +1

Or just wrap them in aluminium foil.

        • Crikey, I think I need one for me dog as someone may scan his chip.

  • Thanks OP, got a few things for my upcoming trip.

  • Shipping costs kills the deal…

  • +6

Sorry, but the shipping cost is a joke! Clearly the pricing of it has been factored in to minimise the lost profit of the item being purchased. $10 to post a pack of 2 RFID credit card protectors is ridiculous. Should cost no more than $2-3 MAX.

    Cheaper on eBay.

3 Passport Protectors & 10 Credit Card protectors for $9.. free shipping.

I use cable ties instead of TSA locks ;)

    • -1

locks and cable ties are pointless. if your bag has a zipper basically anyone with access to your bag could open and remove or place something in your bag without your knowledge and without interfering with your lock or cable tie. both are pointless

      • +1

The whole point about locks and zip ties is: (1) they may be a small deterrent and (2) it's possible that you can tell if your bag has been opened. Far from foolproof but better than nothing.

        • your logic is flawed, (1) its no deterrent to anyone that wants access to your bag. (2) while zip ties are easily bypassed, bypassing a zipper is easier so if your zip tie is intact it essentially tells you nothing.

        • @shroomish:
My logic is based on years of research and a PhD in human interaction with luggage. What's the basis of your brilliant work? But pray tell, how do you "bypass" a zipper without completely stuffing it up? Use your noggin. If you're a crooked baggage handler it's a whole lot simpler to pick 'unsecured' bags. Yes it's easy to cut off zip ties but then you have to replace them - with the correct colour. Some people use clingwrap, also easy to remove but I daresay a baggage handler walking around with a clutch of multicoloured zip ties and a roll of plastic might be ever so slightly obvious.

        • @Possumbly: pray told - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JvmAktLvFg

phd in human/luggage interaction? bahahahahaha, where did you get that? Spice Girls University?

If you choose just to buy the protectors, then yes, its a silly deal. However i bought 2 backpacks, 4 locks, 2 throws and some protectors with $10 shipping. Buying the backpack alone ends up being cheaper then buying similar one in store.

  • Again…..as with all HN shipping plus “deals” makes it not worthwhile.
    Can't combine shipping.
    (see recent go pro items)
No option for click and collect.

I just combined 10 items for $10 postage

      • $15 delivery to WA. Makes the 50c mug, a bit pricy……..

    • +3

      Samsung Millini Bag cool

  • +2

Thanks, I just bought a bunch of stuff. Shipping to WA is $15, but worth it. Bought two Victorinox swiss army knifes for $10 each. Normal price $25+. See http://www.harveynorman.com.au/sports-camping-pets/camping-t… and http://www.harveynorman.com.au/sports-camping-pets/camping-t…

  • +2

RFID card protector? lol I just put a piece of alfoil in my wallet, works good!

  • $15 Delivery to WA - but i needed the TSA locks and cheap ass backpacks makes the $15 worth it.

2 pints in the pub VS TSA locks, fleece throws and a couple of bags? 80% bargain!

  • +1

    Bamboo Torch

Well, everything else was okay to take on a plane..

    • Trust me i agree, but my older parents requested one for their travel and no amount of explaining to them would sway them. But for those who do want them, its cheap i guess.

      • I prefer to keep my wallet thin.

      • Just need to make sure you bring multiple cards so a skimmer will get confused with the overlapping signals.

The only real one which does block things is:
        http://www.armourcard.com/

However the downside is that you need to buy one every 6months or so, which cost around $50. It actively jams the RFID signal.

the RFID slips are rubbish, i tried it with my building swipe card and bank card and it still works, just need to hold it closer for it to detect.

However using the ArmourCard even holding it closer didn't work at all.

$2 Artex picnic rug. Don't know if they're any good or not but if you're already ordering stuff you may as well grab them. http://www.harveynorman.com.au/artex-picnic-rug.html

    • +1

      130x147cm - fits one person :)

      • +5

        Perfect for lonely picnics!

      • +1

How about one person on top of another? Good for those who like the thrill of the outdoors, but without the gravel rash.

        • Why stop there? Surely there's no limit to the number of people you can stack on one of these quality picnic rugs. More the merrier.

to WA for 15$ seemed reasonable postage wise. Still makes me squint tho. Fills holes in the camping/travel kit, present or 2 for the Mrs and a present for a mate. Bargin

    • Going in the direction of having 1/2 my stuff cancelled. Based on the weight of what they apparently ended up shipping got seriously ripped off by postage

      • Only 2 units of 2 so far - not as bad as I feared.

  • +2
    • +2

I wouldn't get that. I was at HN on the weekend and was going to pick up a couple but the sales guy told me not to get it since they had many many returns. Apparently it no longer supports the latest iOS and Android OS. They even had people come back as it wouldn't work on the latest Windows Phone (even though it was designed for it). Apparently it needs a firmware update which is not happening any time soon since Microsoft bought out Nokia.

  • Thanks, flat rate shipping makes this a deal when you add in bags, blankets, TSA locks etc. I don't think the RFID protectors really do much, not enough of a threat to warrant having more items in my wallet (for me personally)

  • $5 for the Spartan 33L backpack seems very cheap. Anyone know how much they normally sold for?

    • It only just went up. Has been $2 for the last few days!

      • Dang it! I bought 2 for $10.

Ozbargain you have let me down :'(

  • As a true ozbargainer, we will need to buy first and think later, as if it is the other way around, you will miss the bargain or save the money in your pocket :)

  • +1

Can't stand the miserable franchiser but happy to take a few items off his hands which will probably cost him at least double the freight charge. Up ya nose Gerry.

  • ozbargained expect the Bamboo torch

$10 shipping is a deal killer.
Not to mention most of the links are dead.

    • you're late

      • -1

negged because the deal wasn't a deal with the shipping.

        • They were selling Victorinox Swiss Army Knifes for $10, costing $31+ elsewhere. How is that not a deal, even with $15 shipping? I bought two, and a whole lot of the other things listed here.

        • @Make it so: that wasn't on the list by the OP.

  • Anyone received an email that the order is sent ?

  • Goddammit just received email saying the locks (green) were refunded. By the time I ordered only green were left, good luck to those who may or may not get their locks…

    • Same here

    • I haven't head anything beyond the order confirmation. But given how much I paid for shipping, I would expect them to refund a proportional amount of the shipping fee if they cancel part of the order. It's what COTD did for me last time.

      • good luck getting Hardly Normal to do it.

    • i ordered a green lock (among others) just before the frenzy started but still received the out-of-stock email.

  • I got an email from HN saying its shipped via Hunter Express. Then I got an email from Hunter Express saying I've got a package on the way from BIGBUYS in SA.

  • +1

all my TSA locks got cancelled. Anyone else?

    • Yeah, mine too. I responded that those locks were the main reason for my order, and asked them to reduce overpriced ($15) shipping in proportion to the RRP price of those locks, or otherwise cancel the whole order.

      • i'm definitely looking at that too since half my order has been cancelled.

good luck and let us know how you go.

        • If I don't get a decent outcome, I may do a Paypal claim.

        • @Make it so:
          Update?

        • @albanyson: no response yet, nor any other order update… Will wait a few days.

They must have purchased Dick Smith's ordering and stock tracking system in the fire sale.

        • @Make it so: I just received a full refund. I guess that's better than getting half my order while paying full $15 postage. Wasted a lot of time though, putting in an order for stock they never had. HN is the new DS.

        • @Make it so: did you mean your entire order was cancelled?

        • @blablabla23: yep. Based on my request above I assume.

    • Same :(

  • Got a package delivered just then. Only 2 items from my order. Had the sports bag cancelled. Got the leather bag. Kind of a girls hand bag/mini tote/not really sure. Hang on.. found it - its an ipad bag!?

Also got the 48 can Thermos bag as a protective bag for my Rigol oscilloscope, perfect fit. That was my trigger item. Everything else is a bonus! SA box not here yet.

  • Longchamp sports bag just got cancelled :/

  • Just received some of the bags in the mail, They aren't the brand advertised, instead some cheap knockoff. Anyone else?

    • Total bollocks, had locks cancelled b4 order sent. Received order minus ion bag, travel strap, printed mats. Only got two microwave egg cookers… for $10 shipping. Never received a refund on the other items. Total crap.

      • Same boat with me. Received order today with opened box and then replastered. Missing 2 esky and 2 luggage tags. Rang their online number, unable to get through, have to leave number or voice mail. Will they call back or hide ?

        • What a lazy bugger. Big buys warehouse is still closed at 9:40 am WA time. What are their working hours ????

        • OK I rang the number and after 15mins of waiting talked to a guy called Christian. SUPER SUPER friendly and helpful. Apparently the rest of my order was paused due to a stocktake. The order will be sent out on Monday. The system cannot handle split shipping so only informed me of the one shipment. He refunded the total shipping charge for my troubles. Give the call center a go, they did right by me.

        • @lainey13: rang and chat with call center and they said they will get big buys warehouse to ring me. And no phone call so far.

        • @yht: Yeah, that's what they said yesterday morning to me too. Never got a call back, and had to call them again today. I insisted that they had to sort it out and to keep me on the line while they worked out what was going on with my order because I wanted my refund then and there. There was no way I was trusting them to call me back. So in the end despite being in a very combative mood everything got sorted out to my satisfaction. I hope you will get your order sorted out too!

        • @lainey13: Apparently they have emailed me and process refund for undelivered items. They will also fully refund the delivery after I asked.

  • contacted HN multiple times and got told:

    • my order was not processed as their system was "down"
    • my order was being shipped
    • part of my order was to be cancelled (in addition to those already cancelled)
    • my entire order was to be refunded (i.e. nothing was ever shipped in the first place)

    shocking display of incompetence.

just wondering, anyone here received the Thermos mugs / Victorinox Army Knife / Spartan backpack?

    • I've received some stuff. Sports bad was cancelled. I received an email and refund on that. Still waiting on

      1 x Spartan 18L Physiopak Backpack - Navy
2 x Parmatex Assorted Plain Throw
2 x Thermos Wide Plastic Travel Mug

      • you may want to contact them i've received OOS emails for the 3 items you listed.
