  • I have two of these sitting in my drawer at work as nobody wants to use them. Major down side is the screen doesn't tilt back far enough so you feel awkward trying to use it like a normal laptop. Besides the fact it is a 2-3 year old model, you'd be better off spending a bit extra on a surface pro.

    • We have around 300 of these. Toshiba provided replacement keyboards that tilt back about twice as far.
The replacement Z20t is a much nicer unit.

      • If you guys are throwing them out any time soon, I'd be happy to buy one of them from you. Lenovo left me with no laptop and would like to get something portable but can't afford something too pricey.

        • Sorry none are being discarded - they are still working pretty well and have another 1 to 2 years of life.
Also they have to go through a special disposal company when we do get rid of them.

      • Did they provide the replacement keyboards free of charge or for a fee? The units we have are out of warranty but I work for a non-profit so I might be able to breathe some life in to them yet!

        • I think so - I was not involved with the supply of them - just rolling them out to users.

$447 will get the Chuwi Hi12 keyboard bundle last I looked.

Toshiba's retails don't exist anymore in Australia. Go try to find any new Toshiba's laptops in retail shops, none! Their repair centres are mostly gone, and their support will probably last another 2 years for products that are left over. Why would you want to spend your money on products that soon will be extinct? Get other brands instead.

Someone at JB Hifi told me the exact thing about Toshiba's retail operations.

She also mentioned that they are only selling through to businesses now. Or you can get some of their business models (eg Portege) through Telstra ie on a plan.

Toshiba apparently did some dodgy accounting in the last few years. They were reporting profits when in fact they were losses. And now it's all come back to bite them.

    • Yes, Toshiba is no longer selling via the large retailers, but they still have a very good product range via any of the smaller (and generally much more competitive anyway) computer shops & online resellers. They still have a lot of service centres (3 in Perth, for example). You can search here: http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/service-centres
