Thanks - didn't see the code. Will make a nice belated mother's day present. After I purchased, I was wondering about the difference from the KSM160, but the 150 should do fine.

        • I think I read somewhere else it has to do with the bowl, not the actual unit. Don't quote me on that though, I don't own one of these, but I'd like to, one day…

        • +1

apparently, the main units are identical. only difference is you get an extra bowl + a plastic splash guard

    • Out of curiosity what do you mean by comments "deleted". I'm seeing it more often on ozbargain but still clueless what they mean.

      • +1

the only option if you want to delete your post

      • Thanks for clarifying.

  • They are doing the same deal on eBay store with 10% additional discount: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231860029207

add the item to cart and you will see extra 10% off ($64.90)

and stack with Cashreward to get another 1.25% and bring the price down to $576.80 delivered.

  • I'm getting 'sorry, discount code invalid'.

    • I just added every colour to my cart, and applied the coupon. Seemed to be valid for all of them.

      • Thanks. God this error message on the cream. Removed from my cart, and added the silver, and it's applying fine now.

        • Almond Cream didn't work, then I tried with the other ones, went back and did the Almond Cream again, and it worked.

Bought one by stacking the $100 voucher that I got from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243282 . In total, that brings the price down to $484.10 + 1.25% Cash reward.
    Thanks op!

    • but I don't think you would have received the KSM1APC Spiraliser Attachment for free, did you? Good work if you did.

      • As far as I know. Theres no difference between ebay store and in store. should be fine to claim free attachment

  • We have a Breville mixer at home. Are these that much better?

    • +1

10x better. It'll last at least 10x longer.

      • +2

Worth holding off until the Breville stops working?

    • +1

Breville made in China, KitchenAid made in USA. Most bakery shop owners use KitchenAid for its durability and reliability.

      • Bakeries will mostly use much larger, mixers with motors rated at over 1000W. Try kneading 5-10kg of thick bread dough with a Kitchenaid.. you'll run into trouble.

    • I love my breville mixer and can't fault it.

I got my BOSCH MUMXL20T from Catchoftheday last time.

Is the KA normal models' much better than BOSCH's flagship models'?

    • they are better, ever notice most cooking shows use them? they are built to last

ever notice most cooking shows use them? they are built to last

        or paid to use them….

i've had one for years, wouldn't buy anything else

          @Trantor:

im not arguing the quality, but there are equally as good mixers from brands like Kenwood etc

Just because an item is on a tv show, doesnt make it the professional chefs choice. Ever wonder why you see so many Thermomix's on tv shows

        • @SBOB: clearly you have never worked in a restaurant

        • +1

@Ashraph6: seen plenty of kenwoods in professional mixers. Pretty sure Heston Blumenthal uses one. Never seen a kenwood, bosch or kitchenaid in a bakery or pizza place. They tend to use big, commercial 1000w+ behemoths that can handle 10kg of dough at a time.

I wouldn't say so. Both will whip egg whites, fold cheesecake filling or mix batter quite well. The really challenging tasks will put the motor to the test - try kneading 2kg of bread dough in both and the 300W Kitchenaid motor will start to warm up and you'll hear it slowing down each time the hook tries to cut through the dense dough. After 10 mins you might smell the tell-tale ozone coming out of the motor as it creates more electrical arcs than usual. The Bosch's 1600W motor (prob one of the most powerful in the domestic machine market) will show much less signs of stress and will likely power through the dough without a problem.

There are lots of people who own and love Kitchenaids, that will respond "Kitchenaid is definitely better than X" even though they have never tried X. To me this is based on the "feeling of reliability" the brand has successfully cultivated, and isn't based on objective measurements. To me both are good iconic brands that make quality products (though Bosch is better known in Europe than in the anglosphere).

Bosch is made in Slovenia, designed and quality controlled in Germany, the Kitchenaid is made in the USA. We can speculate that if all you make is cakes, maybe the Kitchenaid will last longer due to higher manufacturing standards in the US. But that is speculation.. you'll find few people that have tried both for a many years and can make an objective comparison.

But we do know what the motor in each machine is like, and what it's rated for. There are some tasks that the Bosch can do at which the Kitchenaid will fail, simply because it's motor wasn't designed for it. There are plenty of posts in breadmaking forums to the effect that the Kitchenaid is not the best mixer if you want something that will knead thick doughs in any significant quantity.

    • …or $599 with AMEX Davind Jones $40 credit (plus cashback, or around 3000 qantas points if you go through Qantas Mall)

  • Read through the comments - sounds like good reputation. How do they compare with Kenwood?

    • For the same price level. BOSCH > Kenwood > Kitchen Aid.

    • +1

I remember comparing it a long time ago and went with the Kenwood over price and power. I still have my Kenwood KM336 going strong. 800w motor over these 300w KitchenAids plus much cheaper. I got it from Amazon for under $300 delivered but it's now $400 which I'd still go for over this deal. Plus you get a blender/liquidiser attachment.

      • Yes, you right. I did same thing last month. Finally I went with BOSCH from Catchoftheday deal, BOSCH MUMXL20TAU. For a little bit more than $380, it has 1600W motor and a blender attachment and it is the BOSCH high-end flagship model.
I believe I can't go wrong. Just forgot Kitchen Aid.

    • +1

They've been around for a long time, some of the models (incl the one in the deal) are manufactured inouse in the US - which generally has better manufacturing standards than China. They also look very stylish on your counter. If you want to do a lot of dense dough kneading, however, I believe there are a lot of people that will tell you that you'll need a motor with more power than 300w.

I can't see anything on the product page about a free spiralizer. Has that part expired?

I already have a good spiralizer so figured I could sell it for around $150 and reduce the price to $430

    • Someone else just mentioned this to me. I've marked the deal as expired. Thanks.
