[Unofficial Poll] Dick Smith Deals to Be Labelled as @ DicKogan

Well it would appear that there's still many people that don't realise that the 'new' Dick Smith is just Kogan in disguise, complete with grey import products. While this isn't an issue with some products, it is with most mobile phones (for example) so I think as a site with a responsible attitude we need to properly reflect this, and I think my store name sums it up perfectly :)

Also I think the store name should say 'Dick Smith / Kogan'
(See below where it says "Related Store: Dick Smith")

So, do we care? Do we not? What do you think of the below store names?

Where is the bikies poll option?

Sorry they're stuck in 2014 helping someone check the stuff under the bonut

      • Mmm, bonuts

I think the Kogan part should be first. Maybe Kogan (Dick Smith) or just remove the Dick completely. It's a joke (Kogan buying DS website) and people should definitely be informed what they are buying and where it's coming from. Not everyone reads the small print.

  • Kogan's Dick, because Kogan's Dick Smith is too long.

Can't we just have them both banned instead. shrugs

    How about DickKo? Or DickK'n?

  • Kick Smogan?

  • The fact that they're still using the Dick Smith zombie brand is douchebaggery enough to make me inclined to steer well clear of them.

Who cares … Call it Kogan's Dick expansion/extension.

  • We've updated the Dick Smith store name to Dick Smith / Kogan, which appears under all the deals.

We are happy for deals to be labeled @ Dick Smith / Kogan or @ Dick Smith by Kogan - mods/power users can update it as such but no combination names (Dickogan etc).

I'll put something in the posting block also.

    • How about store reps etc, I guess they've now combined with both stores, or un-mark past DS reps (as obviously dick smith staff don't work for the company now).

And do we still keep a ban on Kogan/DS reps?

      • or un-mark past DS reps

Yep Scotty is planning to remove all past associated Dick Smith associated/employees, as they are no longer working there.

do we still keep a ban on Kogan/DS reps

Any rep bans aren't transferred or vice versa, however posting limits are shared (sites run by the same company that are selling similar goods share posting limits under the same domain group - this is to avoid someone creating 10 sites selling the same type of goods so they could post 10 times as much).

        • I just meant because Kogan is perma-banned from store rep posts from sockpuppeting, I gather that's gonna stay put?

Just curious is all. Thought I saw recently that bans were changing to a year instead or permanent?

        • @Spackbace:

I gather that's gonna stay put?

No Dick Smith won't be rep banned, we aren't transferring bans between stores run by the same company.

bans were changing to a year instead or permanent?

Performance based bans only were changed from permanent to 1 year for the third offence.

Account and store bans are still permanent, that won't change and there would never be any automated process to remove a permanent account/store ban after x amount of time. We can consider genuine perm ban appeals on a case by case basis though if a significant amount of time has passed and we were satisfied that appropriate steps/changes had been made.

        • @hamza23:

          Ok cheers :)

Kogans Dick should be in the list.

  • Mr Kogan could have started a new company called DicKogan for free. But instead he chose to spend lots for the DS brand and website.

The people who don't realise Kogan has taken over are probably not OzBargainers.
