  • IMPORTANT NOTE: This Promo starts on the 1st of May 2010 but if you buy before then you are still eligible to receive this bonus!

  • +2

Seems pretty good. I think the 3D glasses are $150 each, and the blu ray player's worth at least $250.
That said though, I personally still wouldn't buy. Not enough 3D content available, and the technology is still in early, headache inducing stages.
    Good for early adopters

    • Adamiam 3D Bluray players on the market go for around $500
and the RRP for the give away Samsung 3D BR player is valued at $899 with 2 Glasses!

  • Is this hdmi 1.3a or 1.4a?

  • +1

Definitely a plus because thats a good price for this technology, but personally, 3D annoys me, might change my mind if it becomes the norm but until then I'll pass. Great for those that wanna get at it early tho!

  • Will the home experience be better then the cinemas? Namely because of the glasses? $150 vs $5 cheap cinema ones?

    • -1

Cinema uses polarised cheap glasses + expensive awesome 3D projector
Home uses expensive glasses + cheap screen
Cinema = awesome, home = cruddy

      • Go into JB or bing lee and check out the 3D yourself befor you say its cruddy… sure doesnt look cruddy at all .. looks amazing! just not as big as the Cinema!

        • i agree. current gen 3dtv isn't too shabby. just the lack of content and expensive glasses that gets the shits.

    • +3

It's not on par with cinema setups. I've looked into 3D projectors and dual polarized projectors (based on another OzB'ers comments) and the consensus seems to be that these are a better viewing experience.

Having said that, there's not enough content around either way for me to be lashing out on an upgrade :)

      • +2

yep with how much content is around at the moment its not worth the upgrade at all! but for those who are looking for a new TV with a BR player this could be an option and its a little more future proof.

      • I just heard that Channel 9 is going to broadcast the State of Origin Rugby League series in 3D. Awesome content!

Guys dont forget to vote for the PROMO itself in general here —> http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/24830
The more people know about this the better. Dont want anyone to miss out on something FREE! especially if they've already bought an eligible tv.

    • +1

I don't think it's allowed to tell people to vote up your posts.

  • hey for this
    how is no 3D viewing

is the tv good for none 3D?

i guess the blue ray player can play normal blu rays too?

    • Yeah "as is" its just a super high QTY Full HD LED TV and awesome Bluray player! They just both have the ability to play and display 3D also! :)

      • LED Plasma?

        • opps .. sorry lol was thinking about the LED one but apart from that mistake yeah its just a full HD TV

  • icic
how much would a similar model samsung cost with no 3D
would that model be better than this model
sorry got no idea on tv's and want a new one

    • well there are allot of options to buy at the moment! check out the promo post bebfor this one for other Samsung models that have a free give away going on with them. or just shop around!

  • few other brands should be having there EOFY promo's coming up soon too!

  • +1

How is this providing any different info to your other post? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/24830

Same item, same price, same deal listed.

    • this is a deal, the other one is just for the promo in general! oh well… if it points someone in the direction of a bargain package its worth it. Same thing could be said about the Steam 75% off sale that was on a while back .. each title was posted! lol that was a little much!

      • Yeah I agree it sometimes gets out of hand.

Don't get me wrong though, it looks like an awesome deal, but the other post shows many more options for people.

  • Am I the only one that thinks this is way too good to be true?

I saw a Samsung 46" 3D TV for $3600 at JB Hifi with no extras so how can this be so cheap?

    • PDP vs LCD?

    • PDP vs LCD?

      • You're right, it was an LED LCD. I guess it's not really worth paying double for a smaller size with less bonuses.

  • Looks like a dupe to me.. Both from you

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/24830

    • its not a dupe cause i posted both! one is for the deal and one is for the promo!

      • +3

One person posting both doesn't mean it cannot be a duplicate.

I've reported the post, and if a moderator deems it fine, then so be it - I'll revoke my negative.

The two are just so tightly intertwined that it doesn't really serve much purpose having them both.

        • Ok no worries, But this promo will most likely run for a month or two and we will see many more duplicate deals pop up over time from numerous other retailers. I was just trying to point out the best bang for buck for the joe six pack's out there! :)

          • +5

            @vid_ghost: Thanks for the report.

Looks like 2 separate deals to me. One for a TV and another for the Bluray player when you buy a TV. Thats just my opinion though. Community seems to have seen a difference judging by the voting pattern. Let's say we keep it.

            • @neil: I just think that whilst this promotion is running, we may as well utilize the single post and update it regularly with the most competitive prices as they're found. A one-stop shop, if you will.

As promised, my vote has been retracted. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from :)

              • @pais: If lots of retailers start doing deals then having only one single post is going to get very messy.

                • @EdwardWouldWood: …unless you just modified the initial post with the cheapest available price.

            • @neil: oops… guess we have had two different mods thoughts on this - sorry. The both posts are rather confusing, and I interpreted as being too similar, neil has had the thought the other way. And I have read his thoughts after the changes. Apologies to Neil.

Have merged into one, so info isnt lost and OP can tidy it up. We have a lot of posts daily, so whereever possible its better to keep like posts from vendors and suppliers in the same post rather than flood the system. Most people look front page deals, so too many deals for something like another just pushes other deals off the front page and that means deals can be missed

  • gotta be there early in the morning 1st May…..

  • -3

looks like a duplicate to me given you posted prices in other post

    • I agree, and you did post "For under $2k you can get a Samsung 50” 3D Plasma (PS50C7000 PDP) that comes with a bonus pack including 2 glasses and a 3D bluray (Monsters vs Aliens)" in the description section of the other post.

    • how can you give this a negative? It's a good deal. The other post is for the blue-ray.

    • Aussman Posts modified, so took liberty of removing your negative vote

      • thats cool I see his other post has been removed happy for my neg to be removed

  • If it's a dup get the mods to delete it - don't vote it down.

  • Hmm, I will still wait for July Tax sales to get myself a TV.

  • So many things wrong with current 3D. Wait for a while before you invest in it. Oh and don't let your kids watch it.. Seriously. Unless eye damage to developing eye's is your intention.

  • This sounds too good to be true, I just spent 2.2k on a 55" Bravia thinking 3D TVs were going to be too expensive. How's the 3D TV function as a 2D TV?

    • near normal I would assume

    • Just fine 2d.

  • Just noticed that there are similar prices from other internet sites:

Digital Centre: $1997 (including 5 year warranty)
    http://www.digitalcentre.com.au/p/1098978/samsung-ps50c7000-…

    Eljo: $2045
    http://www.eljomedia.com.au/Samsung_50_Series_7_Full_HD_3D_P…

Who do you guys think might be the best retailer for a price match in Sydney? JB, BingLee, GoodGuys?

    • Try all 3 and buy it from the first one that will match it! :) save yourself the trouble of walking around everywhere! if they dont match it tell them your willing to pay extra for extended warranty if that will help make the sale.

  • +1

Should put "+shipping" in the title, because you can't pick up. "Pickup is not available as our products ship from warehouses around the country." It's $160 to WA.

Also "Any costs of returning any product is at the purchaser’s expense in both directions. (Sending & Receiving)"

    • Sure no worries, done! :)

    • I'm in WA. Its surprising how much shipping varies between some of these stores. I've seen shipping of large Plasma's in the $40-80 range (from the East Coast). I know they've got to be careful (keep vertical etc) but $160 seems like a lot.

      • Maybe the other stores can give you cheaper shipping with a higher sale price to absorb some of that delivery cost.

        • +2

I do understand that its the TOTAL cost that matters.

It just seems a lot for road transport (ie like they are loading the shipping cost to make up for the low price).

          • @comphelp: EDIT: Just got a reply back from GameOn, and apparently they do get their stock from an Australian distributor (otherwise no local 1st year warranty), so buyers should still be eligible for this promotion.
It's hardly out-of-the-blue to shave $500 of the RRP, especially since the RRP is usually overpriced anyway. If one store doesn't want to sell it for under the RRP then another eventually will so it's all a matter of time.

  • +2

Guys I vote this down - as someone involved in consumer electronics in Aus, take this negative as a flag that I believe there is no way this can be real.

Samsung have not even released the 3D plasma models in Australia yet. Check any Harvey Norman, Good Guys, JB or etc. if you want verification on this. They're not due here until May according to the Samsung website, and for now only the LED models have been released. On top of that, the price is just ludicrously low compared to retail.

Although still unlikely, it's possible these may be grey market TV's from overseas. But even still the margins look too small for importers to be making any real profit.

Caveat emptor for anyone going ahead with this deal.

    • Whats the problem fred09?

There is a Samsung 50" C7000 Plasma 3D TV that will retail for $2,499 that is coming to OZ.

20% saving is not so uncommon especially for an online retailer.

    • On the SAMSUNG Wesbite this TV is listed at RRP of $2,499
And all the extra's are a FREE give away from samsung so $500 off the RRP price isnt crazy or unlikely its just a good DEAL!

This website is to point out good deals and we have one here. END OF STORY!

        1. You will only get the give away if you buy from a participating retailer. Gameon is not a participating retailer. Forget the Blu-ray or the bundle pack.
        2. You still haven't addressed the fact that the plasma isn't even out yet. If it's available now, it's grey market - simple as that. Forget warranty then too.

These comments are to point out flaws in good deals and we have some here. END OF STORY!

Just rang up samsung, cause this deal was too good to be true, they said they do not deal with these people, they must import the product themselves, and that you will not qualify for the promotion if purchase through them.

  • +1

I'll give it a neutral as you can still buy it, it's a great offer, but you will risk the promo deal, who know's you may still get it

  • Hi
can you please confirm that eligible TVs purchased prior to the 1/5/2010 can still participate in the promotion. The web site seems to be stating clearly a 1st of May promotion start date. I just purchased 2 weeks ago a C650 Series 6 LCD with this promotion in mind (and paid a few hundred $$ more than the B650 model) for this promotion and i am worried that i wont be eligible.
    thanks
    SM

  • Can anyone confirm if this deal is valid and you are eligible for the bonus if you purchase through any of these retailers (online)?
