        thanks for irrelavant-cum-judgemental comment

        • @Cobrin: My question sounds 'brake pad deal in SuperCheap catalogue only', my fault, while I actually am asking deal (plus opinions) about brake pads for that particular car model. But it is far different from 'generalization' which he just did and I believe none of us would appreciate to nasty comments. If you can help others, please and be thankful, if not, please also be polite as this forum still is a public place where respect is respected.

        • @webtherapist: i don't know, but I now feel a lot more sorry for you knowing you have a Daewoo cum Holden shit box
          :)

        • @Jackson: u meant a decent with fuel efficiency and compact size for a spare city drive car, thanks, that what it is and saving me a lot with cbd traffic

        • @webtherapist: just taking the piss mate, I am sure it's fine, there are people still driving cars that were built in the 80s that everyone else is trying to forget.

I can't help you with the brakes for that model, but if you want to save money just buy a cheap set, if you put them on yourself, make sure you bed them in (look that up) and the worst that can happen is that they will create a lot of dust and potentially squeal, not that much of a big deal, usually only happens if you are a very light braker or drag your feet on the brake, and nothing a couple of good stops won't clear out

        • @Jackson:

Jackson, you seem to know your stuff. Would Brembo be the best brand? Trying to choose between Bendix, Calibre, Bosch, Wagner and Brembo. It seems like Bosch and Wagner are the cheapest by far. Inclined to think those two would be a bad choice?

        • @Jackson: cheers mate

@CVonC: to be honest I have never had noise issues with 90% of the pads I have used and I don't machine my discs every pad change, only if I really need to, which is about never.

Regarding excessive dust, yes some cheaper pads will have this issue, but it's far less of a a problem than noise. It also may mean the compound is softer, which means that the pad may wear faster but the benefit will be the disc won't wear as much (usually this is related to the amount of metal in the compound, at least from what I have gleaned).

The general rule I follow is a bit like this: if there isn't a significant difference in price I might pay for a brand. Reputation wise Bendix, Bosch, Brembo are all good, I would take the cheapest one if it's just general city driving in a a small car. By small difference I mean 10 bucks on a set. If it's double the price for a brand compared with a cheap set (which it often is) then I just buy the cheapest set unless there is another cheap set that's manufactured somewhere else eg. I would take an Australian or German made set for 5 bucks over a Chinese made one that I didn't know the brand of. I am also inclined to pay less for the pads if I am doing the job myself, but that's just because it's and easy job and I am probably being extra tight, there's jobs I won't do and I save my money to spend with the mechanic on those jobs

also, English is a language, it is a skill, not ability, no one born with that. Stop being nasty, you can be proud as a native speaker, that's fine, but others can be proud at their language skills too which I'm afraid you might not have.

Supercheap sell the calibre branded brake pads. They're owned by the same company that makes bendix pads, but I'm not sure if that means anything. I have used them before, they work well and last, but they can squeak a little. But I think they're a good compromise between cost and quality.

      • thank you

I tried calber pads very very noisy replaced with Bendix

      • I often wait for repco to have their 30% off and often it isn't just for racv members ….. I have bmw and repco seem to stock pads for a broader range of cars.
last ones I got were federal mogul.

  • Sweet found my kind of low saps engine oil on sale, finally have a use for the SC gift card.

Not a bad price to have some electrical tape lying around.

  • Remember most things are on eBay too. Pity SCA aren't in the current 20% eBay promo for discount stackage :( Or just stack with the PARTS10 code (maybe put that in the OP, OP :) )

This Kenwood DDX5015BT head unit is not bad for $359 (after 10%) (double-din, air-mirror, MHL, dvd player). Although it has been $339 before.

Or this Pioneer MVH-285BT single din USB bluetooth media player (no CD) from Pioneer for $106.15 ($117 @ Ryda).

    • But this JVC is cheaper at $90.

sadly the engine oil for motorbike is not discounted.

  • Their silicone spray not discounted either……

  • Export degreaser used to be $1 a can just like a large frozen coke

    • Repco has 6 for $10 for the heavy duty degreaser, not sure if that's a better alternative though.

  • Anyone bought a lightbar from them before?
