  • too expensive, I purchased this for lower $50's couple a months ago and that was for the Origins edition.

    • +3

It was listed for about 40$ - less than a month ago in our site.
Price keep going up - Yet, as for now, we are the cheapest around for the Origins Edition.

      • +2

What's the chances of it get back down to $40 before release? :)

        • +1

The chance is probably 0%.. It will stay high price till like a month after release - just like any other huge game like this one.

    • +1

This is probably the cheapest going around atm, prices have gone up everywhere.
      Post-beta hype!

  • +1

I wish some of these key sites had the standard edition at a better rate. The 'Origins Edition' is valued $20 above standard edition through Blizzard, but unless you want the Diablo 3, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm or Starcraft II bonuses all you're really getting are some Overwatch skins.

I'd rather see the standard edition at $45-50 AUD.

    • +1

I wish we had it too :(
The thing is that the codes are coming to us from a physical box - and all the "Pre-Order" bonus on Day One are all Origins Edition.
I believe that few weeks after release there will be a physical cheaper version of Overwatch.

  • +1

The reason why it keeps going up is because it's just about to be released. I guess they love the milking monopoly for people who want to play and don't have it yet.

    • To be fair, those who pre-ordered before even playing the beta took a risk of buying a lemon hence the lower price back then was reasonable. During the beta, people had the opportunity to pre-order it at $55 AUD being the lowest at that time so I think it's nothing surprising the price has gone up after.

Alternatively, you can pre-order a physical copy from EB games for $79 and receive a mini Wiston figurine. That's about $9 more for a guaranteed hassle free physical copy for the game and a collectable item on top.

I can confirm EB price matches JB and the gentlemen told me that if the price is lower anywhere else from an Australian physical store then he can refund me the pre-order or price match it.

And you won't have to download it

  • What's so good about the Origins Edition?

    • Origins edition is just the base game plus some skins and small benefits for other Blizzard games. The PS4 and XBONE only come in orgins editions btw.

"Requires European battlenet account in order to use" in big red writing on the page?

    • +3

I talked about it in my other Overwatch discussion post. Basically I think you need to have a EU Battlenet account to activate the key. In which case would not work for people such as myself as I have invested so much time and money into my US one and I would like to keep that as my account for all my games. I could be wrong but best do your own research as well :)

Jesus then why is this vital info not in OPs post?

        • +1

I wouldn't blame the op, my theory is just based on what information is available to me and I could be wrong. You can create an EU account in Australia, the question is does your account have to originate from the EU or can you just change regions and then activate the key (which sounds quite unlikely when you think about it).

        • @watty:

Blizzard just updated the Global Play definition for Overwatch

Global Play in Overwatch works differently from our other games. All of your game progress, including unlocked in-game items, remains the same across all regions.

Note: Game key, upgrades, and friend list restrictions still apply.

Also got this info from reddit that PC is not region locked?

        • @dione: Thanks for the info dione! Edit: I read the reddit posts and people said it's fine I guess? I honestly think Blizzard should be more clear about these things (given it's probably so people buy from them instead of other key sellers).

    • +1

      Dear IDontWantToSign,
You can redeem it on a EU account but still play in the US server. :)
If you played the beta, you could see that in the launcher they give you the option to change server ^_^
I for instance have an EU account (I moved from Europe 5 months ago to the US), but I am playing on the US server.

Added the EU/US account information - sorry for that.

The standard edition is the same price from Blizzard. There's nothing really in the Origins edition I want, so I'll just buy it direct.

  • Not really a "deal" even if it is the cheapest. It cost me $49 only a few weeks back, and it will probably drop steadily back to that amount after launch. At this price I would rather buy the physical copy from JB/EB, but that's just me.

  • Lol I preordered an origins edition key after the closed beta for ~$51AUD and now the same site has it for $72.45!!!

  • Its $68 plus 5 bucks shipping from Mighty Ape for a boxed copy.. this is where I'll be getting it from.

    • As far as i know that is the new zealand copy, will that work with australian accounts?

  • I will have fun with Doom for a little while then i'll come back when prices drop back to the $50's. :) I did originally buy it through a game site that closed and reopened, got my money back. Will just wait again.
