  • these are 69$ in store, picked one up on thursday

  • There was feedback last time it was posted that it's not the greatest drill to be honest.
I do love a bargain but good lord that's REALLY kinda cheap.

I'm really waiting for this sucker to come out in a deal with 2 batteries / charger / case, for like $140 or so.

Despite the Ozito brand, it does tick boxes (18v, not 14v) and brushless and finally
    "Warranty Info

    5 year warranty"

EDIT: also the Wesco has no warranty information on the page, it's not clear if it's 1 or 3 or 5.

I have handled Wesco in shop and they feel like the cheapest of cheap manufacture.

I stand by the comment above that Bunnings Ozito is lifting their game and something to consider in the cheap tools market.

  • Masters seems to suffer the same fate as Dick Smith

    • No 5h!7, Sherlock!

  • Ok it's arrived, about what I expected. I guess that the differentiation from 18 and 14v is virtually nothing. My Bosch 14.4V drill seemed exactly as powerful if not slightly more so. This should be good enough for basic needs, but it doesn't even have an adjustable speed grading (1/2) Which is actually quite useful for drilling some particular things.

It feels mostly cheap but considering the drill was effectively $30 - it only feels marginally worse than my $150 Bosch, so that's a good thing.

Most surprising though, is that the feel / noise / weight of the impact driver seems BETTER than the drill (WTF?) I would assume that the need to punch holes in things with a drill requires more torque / speed than the act of simply putting in screws (that's what the impact is for right?)
I can't be certain but it looks like the motor may be ever so slightly larger inside there.

For $65 shipped, I'm not going to complain.

    • Got mine today yesterday and put it into action today.

The impact driver is reasonable, feels solid, very loud, but was able to drive a long screw into solid hardwood, albeit only after I put some soap on the screw. Not too bad really.

The drill is rubbish though, feels really light and cheap, and couldn't drill a hole in the hardwood at all.

      • So is an impact driver for putting a screw into a location which hasn't previously had a screw? (I seriously don't know)
Most of the time I used to use my old drill as basically an electronic screwdriver, for existing threaded locations.

The drill doesn't seem great no, which shows I know stuff all about electronics. I figured a cheap 18v drill would be at least as good as my old green level Bosch but it doesn't seem as good TBH.
