The Line Trimmer is a powerful tool for cutting grass along garden beds, paths, driveways, and around trees. Use it in all the places your lawn mower can’t reach.

An adjustable cutting path (33cm-38cm) and variable speed trigger make it easier to control the Line Trimmer’s performance.

The Battery powers the Line Trimmer and many other tools from RYOBI’s 36V range, including Blowers, Chainsaws and Hedge Trimmers.

The Charger is compatible with any Battery from RYOBI’s 36V range. Its detailed LED panel communicates charge levels, battery status and temperature.

Seems great for the 36v one.

    • Used to run a landscaping business. Mainly used Stihl commercial tools as they had more grunt and could take damage. Honestly I couldn't tell the difference with this one. Pound for pound, probably the best electric trimmer I've ever used.

    • its ok, I have one at mums but it will do our place fine but I prefer my husky 2t unit.

4ah will give around 25 mins run time give or take

For edges the straight shaft sucks, its mostly the line length so I pulled an old bent shaft and it rips overgrown buffalo. I suspect there is some tiny losses from the gearing in the straight shaft head too but both heads have different line thicknesses. Easiest thing for most will be to remove the shield then figure out what line thickness you prefer, thinner line will spin faster even on this 36v but will wear quicker, dont forget to soak the head/line in water before use

    The box says 2Ah kit

    • +1

Battery. Great if you have a larger battery already

    • +1

Correct, sorry, fixed. Must've been looking at one of the other kits there and muddled it up when writing the deal.

      Still, 8Ah for $279 = $35 per Ah.

    • +1

36V 2AH is the same energy as 18V 4AH but likely more power delivered and more efficiently (larger current leads to more losses).

I can only find this on the Bunnings NZ website. Was this a fathers day item or something? Would definitely grab one if I see it at my local.

  • Is it actually brushless? Would be a steal if so (probably won't be at my local bunnings)

    • Nope.

  • Any idea what the item number, or perhaps a picture of the barcode?

  • +4

    The battery alone is $179.
Hard to resist, but I will, because I don't want another type of batteries.
    I wished it was 18V.

    • +4

Don't resist the 36V, it's miles better than the 18V stuff (I have both).

      • Sadly I just pulled the trigger for a 54V Dewalt blower last weekend. Now I have 3 sets of batteries: R18, D18, D54. The D54 batteries can be used with D18 tools, but rather cumbersome because of the weight (1.5kg battery on a 900g driver).
I don't know why Ryobi don't have an adapter to connect two 18V batteries to make a 36V.

      • yeah 100% have a Black and Decker 18v Line trimmer grabbed this yesterday , so much more power and so much better made, battery is massive in comparison the power is so much more!!

    • These "battery alone" RRP prices are pretty unOzBargain type of comparisons.

  • Damn! My mum needs a new line trimmer too. Is there an I/N to stock check it?

      • +1

Pax commented before I found the item's SKU and added the stock checker link :)

        • ah sorry bad me

  • +1

Can someone buy it from Burleigh Waters and sell me the battery please? :p

    • How much are you will to pay for the battery?

      • +1

        Sent DM

  • +1

The same is on Bunnings NZ for some reason and for $99 NZD!

    That's a stihl……

  • I just called the Capalaba store (supposedly 3 in stock according to the online stock checker posted above) but staff members said they couldn’t see any. If anyone goes there and can confirm themselves if they have stock or not that’d be great. It’s a bit far for me to check myself especially if they don’t have any.

  • Same price in ADL?

  • +1

It appears that the tool only (no battery) is $299. As far as I can tell this is the model: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-36v-33-38cm-brushless-line…

If so, this is an extraordinary deal. Just wish I could find stock nearby.

    • +1

Doesn't look like the one in the deal is brushless.

    • Nope not brushless. But still an amazing deal.

  • +1

I have the exact same model, bought it 5 years or so ago and still going strong! Haven't even had to replace the battery yet. I have a pole saw attachment that I also attached to this via Ryobi's EXPANDIT system. Great investment. Would buy a second if they had any stock near me but alas

  • +1

Proper deal. Go for it if you are unsure imo

  • +1

    Bargain!

  • None near me unfortunately.

  • Hmmm its worth driving 1.5hr for.

  • Thanks Op. I got the last one at the Canberra Airport store. I had to search for about 15 minutes so I think I've earned my bargain.

    • Lol why would they have a Bunnings at Canberra airport?

      • +2

The Canberra airport owners have developed the surrounding area including a shopping complex. It's got Ikea, Costco, Big W and lots of smaller stores.

      • +2

So Albo can fix the cabinet when he flies in

  • Thanks OP: managed to get the (second) last one in Epping, Victoria. It was hidden behind the current Ryobi line trimmer products in aisle 26. Looks like someone was trying to save it for later; to them I say thank you.

    • After a thirty min wait to call them a few hours ago, they assured me they couldn't find it

      • Were they inept?

        • +1

They were adept at being inept

    • Was the (last) last one also stashed in the same spot, or did you not see it?

      • +1

I didn't see the other one that could be there based on the stock counter link above. Was way too excited to get the box off the shelf, straight to the tools counter to get 1) a price check and 2) pay for it so I could get out of there!

        • +1

Lol I'm there right now, no luck it seems 😞 nice nab brother

          • +1

@Unleash3896: Aisle 26, behind the current stock of line trimmers. No price tag, only saw it because there was a gap between two sets of line trimmers on the shelf.

  • non left.

  • Just went to West Gosford and staff told me sales rep took remaining 5 yesterday so stock checker is not all accurate. Hammerbarn dude told me its common for sales reps to go into stores within their territory to take back clearance stock to make more room. It's not brushless so I wasn' too dissapointed but it's with a battery kit… Next time I will beat the sales reps to their game.

    • +1

Was just about to call the store. Sales reps don't usualy take back clearance stock unless they been sitting around for ages on sale. I reckon the staff noticed the price and grabbed them to resell.

      • doubt it - unless it's high quality tools (festool, some milwaukee gear), it's hard to re-sell lithium battery devices without proper warranty.

        • alot of effort to get some non brushless Chinese garden tools.

  • Thanks grabbed one this arvo.

  • It will be this one from this non-brushless kit.

    https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/line-trimmers/36v-3338cm-l…

  • Can always grab one and resell the skin for the same price and use the battery in a ids 24v ride on. Aliexpress sell adapter kits. I recently done my grandsons 12v upgrade to 18v. the thing is 3 x faster. just need to remove the overload switching fuse.

    • That did come across my mind but I thought "sharing is caring".

  • Tried 3 around the Mornington Peninsula and nothing left 😪

    • Time to go to the Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs instead
