ACD Systems: ~50% off Semi-Annual Sale

60

The full range of ACD programs for image viewing, editing and managing are on sale now, averaging 50% off. The prices given are in $US. The applications are quite good, and there are Windoze as well as OSXXX versions. When i first began using the internet Iused paintshop Pro to open images, but soon, frustrated, discovered ACDSee version2. A wonderfully fast image viewer. Since then a lot of bloat had been added to make the programs appeal to photographers and photo editors with huge image libraries, and well as some editing functionality. Free alternative I recommend are XnView version 1, and FastStone Image Viewer (especially good for batch conversions), but there are quite a few image viewers I have yet to try out. recommendations are welcome.

Wow.. Still around? Best Porn viewer of the 90's? hehe

I think it's more that it was one of the lightest apps for picture viewing of it's time (with some basic editing inbuilt a as a bonus). We have Irfanview these days.

      • Actually I stopped using them since Windows XP's picture viewer was as fast as anything ACDSee did (Still my default now in Win10 over the other crappy metro picture and video app). The editing part was replaced by Google Picasa which was free and had so much support including the library features.

Their bloatware didnt help either as I kept going back to lighter previous editions. Gave up when they were putting in borderline adware in version 6 or 7.

  • They have the exact same sale just ended 19 May, this is either an extension of that one or maybe they just normally sell at this price :-/

  • I was a long time ACDsee user until recently, didn't use catalogue features though.
I liked the way you could view images full screen, + or - to zoom, mouse scroll for next/previous image.
The free Farstone image viewer has similar layout, explorer window, preview window and the main folder view window.
The full screen viewing is much the same, it is much lighter than ACDsee and it doesn't crash.
