I’ve been eager to buy one of these 4060 deals now that I’ve got the money, but have been put off by the fact that there’s no integrated graphics compared to my current setup which is always great for troubleshooting when/if GPU has problems.

If you guys could make a deal on the fish tank MATX 4060 with the i5 12400 w iGPU which is ~$40 more than 12400F similar to this deal below, then I’ll buy it right away

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841479

      Thanks,
      AG

      • +1

You can wait for @luketechfast to confirm but they just don't stock such CPUs. Their business model is mass production, not customisation.

        • +1

This is good to know, I wasn’t aware of that. Does this mean they also don’t do changes for the case or motherboard etc?

          • @Not Applicable: Upgrades and changes available to each build are shown under each heading on their configuration page.

      • +1

Broadly speaking the guys are right, F is more available, reduces cost and is what we purchase.

        • I see, thanks for the reply.

I could buy one of the 4060 PCs and swap in the 12400 then sell the F one since it should work on the same motherboard…

  • Sorry if it's a dumb question, I've been considering getting some kid of NAS to have ~10gb HDD shared, would something like this with a couple drive in work instead (with the bonus of some super light gaming for kids)?

    • +5

Overkill probably, 4060 is no slouch

        • +17

You can run fortnite and Minecraft on integrated graphics. A 4060 can them at hundreds of frames per second, maybe not at ultra mega graphics but this a dude looking to buy things for his kids, i assumed he'd want something more affordable…

          • +1

@ThirtySixNights: you definitely can run at highest settings 1080p and DLSS also is a game changer

        • -3

          It's lonely being right.

      • +3

I was going to suggest selling the 4060 for ~$450 but realised it's a F series CPU.

Kinda in the same boat, can't force myself to pull trigger on a NAS (purely for storage no video), and a standalone PC with onboard can be used for other things when needed with basic onboard gfx.

        • +2

You can buy a cheap second hand gpu. It simply needs to fit into the itx case.

But idk why you would want this for nas

          • +2

@Wonderfool: Nah I wasn't specifically intending to refer to this one, just a pre-built PC deal that comes up so often and sell gfx card and throw a few drives in there.

I'm in that awkward position where crucial data have backups not really that much data, and non crucial data I'm near running out (12T), should probably cull some stuff instead…

            • @minty: Yeah If only they’d make a deal with the 12400 instead so we could use the iGPU…

              • +1

@adamiscoolization: What are you chasing one for, a kinda but not really NAS or just a decent PC minus dedicated GPU?

    • +2

Depends on what you were using the NAS for probably. If you wanted to run Plex or something with video transcoding directly off the NAS server then it might not be overkill.
Most people are setting up a NAS so they have a lot of storage with low power consumption, this has low storage (out of the box) with high power consumption. Just got to decide what you're looking for really.

      • +1

Not really, an Intel igpu with quick sync performs just as well as the 4060 for media encode decode and uses less power and can utilise more ram for more 4K streams (system memory is much cheaper than vram)

    • will be external USB drives for your data, which isnt ideal
get a cheap actual NAS if you want that to work with low power draw etc

    • +4

      Have a look at this:
Opened ITX case from previous purchase

It is from someone who posted a quick review of his TechFast ITX PC purchased last year. Are you comfortable adding HDD(s) to that case? Can't have everything, a nice, compact ITX case generally doesn't have a lot of extra room. You could go USB external, but that kinda defeats going ITX.

Technically, since it is for kids, boss (i.e. wife) will most likely approve the purchase.

    • +1

I have one of these and the case is pretty small so it would be hard to fit even a single full-size hard drive in it. I chucked in a 2.5" SSD and it barely fit.

    • +1

Yes it would, however it would be a waste of energy, much better to get an intel cpu with an igpu (quicksync is better than the amd equivalent for media)

    • Put it all in a jonsbo n3 8 bay itx case, but I wouldn't touch maxsun

    • +4

Look at used HP Elitedesk SFF. Unlike many other SFF, it can fit 2 X 3.5" drives, 1 X 2.5" drive and 2 X M2 ssds. Has 4 desktop RAM slots and can fit low profile GPU. Aim for Intel 8th gen +

They go pretty cheap on eBay. Be careful though. ProDesk are quite different.

Now obviously there are more efficient PCs, more powerful PCs, more drive bays etc, but these are cheap, easy, quiet and are built to an enterprise grade.

  • +6

These cases aren't cheap to buy in small quantities. This deal is really really good.

  • Nice deal

Looking for having an ITX with better CPU and GPU.

"Howdy folks, a psycho micro ITX deal today, with the i3-12400F and an ITX RTX 4060 single card fan"
        First line of description

        • i thought i'd explained it pretty quickly, or good old F3 on the webpage… :D

    • +1

My brain was looking for the full i5-12400F. Could've just used a Ctrl+F. Got it.

  • +2

Nice, well done Luke & Techfast, good to see some SFF / Mini-ITX love on OZB.

    • +1

yeah house space becoming a premium these days

  • +1

Nice looking case TBH. What brand is it? Just curious

    • Allied Leaper-I ITX aluminium case with integrated 400W PSU (dimensions 260mm (h) x 125mm (w) x 200mm (l))

It looks like a skinnier or taller version of my cooler master NR200

      • +3

Total volume 6.5L which is just over 1/3 of the NR200
        Very small!

        • -1

I’d worry about the thermals even with a 4060.

          • +1

@Commodore64: Generally this type of case layout works really well for GPU thermals (intake through the side and exhaust straight out the top), much more efficient than traditional ATX cases where the GPU doesn't have a straight path for intake or exhaust.
Specific thermal performance of the card will ofc affect things too

For this build though I'd be more worried about the PSU making a racket than the GPU/CPU

  • Generic flex ATX PSUs are notoriously loud.
You could swap the fan out for a noctua but something to consider if you're thinking about sitting this on your desk.

Otherwise great to see ITX getting some love!

can we have cpu upgrade option of i5?

    • +3

second this, please have the i5 cpu option!

    • +1

      3rd this

    • +2

We're going to stick with the i3 for this one as we got the deal on those chips.

      • +4

ill bite as soon as you put the i5 as an option, as its the first thing ill change anyway, then id have to sell the i3, i don't mind paying extra to avoid this step.

        • +1

          2nd this

  • +5

Last deal was $728 with i5…

  • +1

At last! A gaming PC that doesn't look like a UFO…

  • +1

This looks nice. Would it handle Flight Sim 2020 Better than an XBox Series X?

  • Can we have CPU upgrade option please at least to i5, thanks

  • +2

    This is an insane deal
Easily a PS5 killer and just a great all around PC. Would definitely be nice to have an i5 upgrade option but this is an amazing starter gaming PC.

    • +1

How well does this pc perform if compared to a PS5 or Xbox Series X?

      • +6

Depending on the game and settings I'd say at least as good if not better

You also get the benefit of having a fully fledged computer rather than just a games box

  • Can see it comes with Linux installed, and often hear NVidia has issues with Linux drivers

Any chance of a similar performance AMD / Intel Arc build?

  • +1

Hope Luke can show us a photo of the inside of the case after everything attached.

  • +1

    Worried about the psu

  • +6

I know this is like looking a gift horse in the mouth, but it's such a shame this has been shrinkflated to a 12100F compared to the 12400F in your previous ITX rigs.

    • +4

      Smaller psu to boot

      • +2

That's forgiveable given how much smaller this case is compared to the Leaper ITX (and the fact that this case has a Flex ATX PSU rather than a regular ol slab of ATX PSU in it).

        • +1

I think the smaller graphics card (necessary to fit in this smaller case) also adds to the cost

  • +9

Their previous deal was better value:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/833607

    DDR5, i5, 1TB M.2 and 750W PSU, but slightly larger case.

    • +3

      much better value IMO

  • +5

The i5 deal is much better value for $30 extra.

    • Agree - the MATX i5 with 4060 is much better. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841479

      • … although I'd change to the NX200 case (no charge) for what I consider better fan positions, and a button on the case to switch RGB lighting on/off (no button on the fishtank CX200M).

        • +1

The CX200M has a button to disable the RGB fans.

  • Is there any way to sell a GPU on its own?

      • I already have a current system with the i3 12100F.

        • Oh, you meant to buy just that GPU…. Ask Luke.

There was a 4060 deal ($399) posted on OZB recently (it was initially available in multiple states, but SA was the last state to still have it in stock towards the end) but I guess this one is better suited for ITX.

  • can a 2.5 ssd drive fit into this case?

  • i3 12100f is an OC beast. Overclocking guild for 30% more performance (apparently it beats i9 12900k)…:

    https://youtu.be/v4H6FNO7IvM?si=PvJJFHX1ECMVTVQU

    • Hmmm.. Non BLK overclocking… Not happening on this motherboard!!..

hmmm.. I haven't been able to go past 65W with the 12400F.. on the Aprl 12400F deal..

  • Will the 400W PSU be an issue?

The specs of the GPU recommend a 500W PSU.

    • This GPU is more energy efficient than a GTX1060 at 115W.

    • +1

i would worry more about the QTY of the power supply and less about if its able to carry the load.

No issues with the parts they are all low powered
      CPU 54w
      GPU 115w
      M.2 storage 7w
      DDR4 7w
      motherboard 12w
      Case fans 12w

  • Can I connect 3 4K screens to this, for productivity purposes?

    • YES…. pretty much all $300+ GPU's these days come with 2x HDMI 2.0 ports and 2X displayport 1.4 ports Both can do 4k 120Hz

Unless the GPU is a low profile card with less connections but it looks like a ITX (short 2 slot card) not thin low profile one.

  • @luketechfast can you link to the motherboard used? thanks

  • wtf, I can't believe my 1080ti still be comparable to 4060… I guess I will be waiting for another gen before I upgrade.

Looks like this is a great price/deal though.

    • -1

Your 1080ti is slower than a 6600 that costs <300.

      • 6600XT or 6600? Both are slower than 1080ti.

I'm not looking for a comparable card to 1080ti btw, I'm just looking for an upgrade path that is "well priced" but 4060/70/80 isn't a big enough difference for the price imo if you are coming from 1080ti. Maybe I'll end up getting 10 years out from my 1080ti after all hahaha

    • The 4060 with half the power usage, DLSS and FG put it well ahead of the 1080ti. Nothing wrong with it in builds of this spec and price when the main concern is how the 4060 is priced on its own.

  • What case is it? Picture looks like leeper but says sg13

  • Is this better than a ps5? As in an upgrade? How would it play warzone?

    • +1

Given the ability to chop-and-change settings as needed, PC certainly offers more flexibility but the problem is consoles are much easier to optimise for.

I’d imagine you’re looking at anywhere between 80fps (1440p lower settings) to 300fps (1080p) so you just need to choose how you want to play.
