  • any ATX motherboard options?

    • The X670 and Z790 upgrades are, but not the B chipset boards.

  • Would peeps get this over the similar but more expensive HP Omen deal?

    • -3

Yes, fairly big difference between a regular 4080 and 4080 Super in favour of this Techfast deal. HP used to have a pretty good deal on their 4090 PC but it’s not offered in the current promo

      • OP in that deal said there wasn't much difference between normal and Super variant. But not sure if that's the case.

      • not much difference at all

  • +1

Will I still have the manufacture warranties for the parts after the 1 year return to base warranty? e.g. motherboard will usually have 3 years of manufacture warranty

    • +4

Yep balance of manufacturer warranty always applies after assembled system warranty ends.

      • +1

Out of curiosity how does the manufacture warranty usually work?
E.g. if in 2 years the PSU stops working, would you need to pay for shipping of PC back to you guys or can the replacement part just be sent out to the customer?

        • +1

It would generally need to come back through us as it would have been purchased from a distributor, who works with the brand itself. We're pretty flexible and if you can uninstall the PSU yourself for example we can generally accept single components.

    • +1

Luke already replied, but thought I’d mention how Australia also has good consumer protection laws, which override any manufacturer warranty.

If something breaks outside of warranty, usually a company will refund or replace it if you use the magic words “the item was not of reasonable quality”, if they resist you can even whip out the ol’ “I will regrettably be forced to lodge a consumer protection complaint”, or, “I’m going to tell 60 Minutes about this”.

      • Oh noo not 60 minutes 😱

  • +1

"Liquid cooler upgrades available including 360mm pictured"
I only see 120mm and 240mm options for the 7800X3D build or am I misunderstanding? https://i.imgur.com/xhVht8J.jpeg

    • +1

      360 added thanks

  • +3

Honestly worried with the bundled air cooler for the intel, not an issue for the amd variant.. you would have to upgrade the intel air cooler, would probably make it similar price.

    • +2

Yeah, that just seems odd. Single tower cooler paired with a rather high end 14th gen i7? Can't see that ending well.

    • +2

Intel ships the 14700F with a stock cooler which is nowhere near enough. The 180W TDP tower cooler performs the same as a 120mm AIO cooler.

      • +2

And I wouldn't recommend a 120mm AIO either, just get a good air cooler.

    • +1

Out of the water cooling scene for about 15+ years.

Is there upkeep there's days?? Seems like closed loop/don't touch stuff or is it not?

I used to run a silver block, tygon tubing, pccg water res and car radiator 😜 and don't wish that again.

      • +1

Never dealt with custom loops systems. But a good air-cooler is worth it. However from my knowledge, very little upkeep with water coolers as well.
Get something like the phantom spirit from thermalright

  • +3

Actually pretty decent deals i must say 👌

  • +1

''our own Tower180 8-pipe 180W TDP 120mm air cooler in use''

I think you mean 4 pipe sorry. For example the Deepcool AK400 is a 4 pipe cooler not 8. The pipe is a U shape in the cooler, and not a different pipe for each side of the cooler.
So unless the cooler looks something like the Coolermaster MASTERAIR MA824 then I do not think it is a 8 pipe cooler sorry.
    https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/cpu-air-coolers…

    • Thanks for that. Correct and updated.

What are the AIO coolers? Are they some Techfast branded ones too?

  • +5

Be aware there's a fairly common issue with the PNY 4080S Verto where the fan controller just doesn't work and the fans will ramp up and have a mind of their own and report impossible readings.

Happened to my PNY 4080S I ordered in the last deal and after some googling it seems to be a pretty common issue.

Currently trying to get a replacement card shipped out from techfast (slow replies) and I'm hoping for a lucky batch or a non PNY Verto card.

@luketechfast do you guys ship out different model cards for replacements if there's a known issue with currently stocked cards?

    • +2

I will have to look into this

    • This was a actually a worry I had after a lot of people starting voicing their issues on reddit. I did raise the question on Techfast's 14900k & 4080S post.

Still, I put in my order and got my PC about 5 days ago. So far I haven't had any issues but I also am not actively monitoring the fans.

How did you notice by the way - was it the sudden loud fan noise or are you actively monitoring the RPM readings?

Was your issue at idle or during load?

      • It was during load. I heard the fans constantly spinning up to 100% for 5 seconds at a time then return to normal even when the card never topped 55 degrees

Ended up googling it to see if it was “normal” for this card and saw people mention RPM readings so had a look at my readings and they were reporting impossible numbers of up to 400,000 RPM

In sure it’s not every card but PNY hasn’t admitted issue with the card but there’s certainly a larger number of people reporting this issue

    • +1

We've had confirmation from PNY that there is no issue with the model we're using. Individual cards do develop faults so any individual case woud be treated as such and would be entitled to repair or replacement under warranty as normal.

      • Thanks for that and I understand it’s not every card

Even without PNY admitting there’s an issue with the card, a quick google search would suggest there is a larger than normal amount of people experiencing this issue with the card

Hoping I get a replacement from a good batch. Cheers

    • Yeah Ive heard it's due to the installation instructions being wrong. You need to install the middle bracket further laterally to prevent the screws hitting the middle fan and stopping the fan stopping. Is this something that is actively checked for and your team is aware of @luketechfast and team?

Does this shop ship to NZ by any chance..?

    • $160 to post to me in Aus, be a fortune to NZ lol.

    • I could be interested in this as well, but the postage cost would be a lot, and extra NZ GST would be added I guess?

      • GST is on any goods over 1k, and on any priced good if the company or platform is registered with the IRD ['required' over 60k revenue - meant to capture big players not the occasional item sent over].

Obviously, technology could add duty and other issues on top of the GST. I doubt you'd get the PC company to avoid Australian GST so its not a matter of paying 15% vs 10% - rather both.

  • +1

I probably should upgrade my PC, there is a couple of these sort of deals out but none seem to fit a quiet and no lights options based on the case pictures. Are these builds these days quiet by default and all the rgbs can be turned off?

I currently have a fractal define case holding a very old Intel/1070 buid for a noise reference, it's apparently 41db according to a random decibel app on my phone

  • Aw damn, I bought the 5200mhz variant only yesterday for the same price.
That new case is nice too, I don't suppose I'm able to switch huh 😂

    • Email them and im sure they'll sort it out for you.

I made changes to my previous order and they did it no problem

    • +1

Yep we honor upgrades on unshipped orders, no sweat, email [email protected]

  • Nice deal - I'm on the checkout screen and attempting to apply the 7800 ryzen code, but the system is not applying the discount? Apologies if I missed a step.

    • +4

They didn't update the month, just throw in apr instead of mar

    • +2

🦀 is correct - i've updated the deal with APR and that's the code to use

  • Windows is an upgrade apparently.. who wants Linux anyway?

    • +1

You can install Windows and use your own licence if you want

  • Just wanted to say a big thanks to Caleb and Zac. I bought the recent tiny ITX build for my folks to replace an aging build, but the tiny PSU fan had quite a rattle - you guys sent me a new one lickety split and I'm all set to go upgrade the parents over the weekend.

The official memory speed supported by the 7000 series AMD processor is DDR5-5200.
So, if you use the DDR5-6000, should test it whether works correctly or not.

    • It does.

  • @luketechfast hey mate I purchased the previous 4080s deal with the 7800x3d. I noticed this deal is the same cost with better ram, would I be possible to have this ram and case used in my order instead as it hasn't been dispatched (or built I think) yet?

    • +1

If it hasn't shipped, totally fine. Please email [email protected] with the details

      • Amazing thanks Luke! Sent the email

  • I'm sure even a few months ago we were getting pre built PC deals from 3 or 4 companies.

Are we down to mainly techfast and nebula now?

    • +1

I’ve only really been following these PC deals for the last 2 months, but yeah predominantly Techfast and Nebula, and on the odd occasion BPC Technology

      • Did we have a company that started with O as well?

        • Hmm don’t know about O, but forgot about Evatech (less frequent deals)

        • +2

I think you might be referring to enigma PC… They seem to have dropped from the scene since back in September last year.

  • +1

    Got the Intel, cheers

    • 🥇

      • Seems I didn't select the right mobo according to order email. Wanted the MSI for the usb positioning. Have sent email to [email protected] to alter order, but in case that went to junk, putting my variation here too. Cheers.

  • @luketechfast Please bring 7900GRE deals

  • Any reason why anyone would choose to "Ship GPU Separate"?

    • It can be risky shipping it attached and can break both the GPU and motherboard given the weight of them.

    • +4

You can do the honours of putting it in yourself to complete the puzzle. Shipping it separately comes in its original packaging with foam and extra bubble bags outside the box. Plus, it is easier to sell it later with the box so you can ship it

  • No bluetooth on the motherboard?

  • Thanks for this techfast i bought the i9 4080 build out of impulse i sent an email to techfast for sales to update my order. 🤗

  • Hi @luketechfast,
Is it possible to ship the 4070 super without the cpu - I already have a CPU with me so just wondering thanks - and if the price could be dropped

    • Full builds only sorry

  • @luketechfast, I recently ordered the April, R7 + 4070ti super deal. For the case I upgraded to the antec p20c, however, I realises that the leaper edge tank looks better. Would it be possible to swap to it. The order status still shows "order placed"

  • I wonder if I should upgrade from this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/655350
Recently Horizon Zero Dawn: Fobidden Dawn struggled a bit on the higher settings at 1440p.

    • Did you try using dlss?

      • Yeh, it was the burning shores expansion that started dipping to the 30s FPS. Main game was fine.

  • HI Luke
So for the Ryzen 7, 4080 deal for 2659, you get the,
    1. Asus Prime B650M-A WiFi II does this have pcie5 for video card and 5x for the m2 slots..
    2. 32gb ram (can I get CL30 by paying a small upgrade)?
    and last few questions please
    1. I have a 850w corsair psu already, is this easy to swap in for your new 750w, as in for me to do it?
    2. How many m2 slots on this mobo
    3. For gaming, do I want the 7800x3D or the i9? I grew up with the intels being premium is that but I hear that the cheaper AMD is better

    Thank you kindly

  • Hi there,

According to the motherboard spec sheet here
A single M.2 slot will have PCIe5, the others PCIe 4.
We don't have particular cas latency selection available. The model advertised in the listing is what we have to offer.
It is pretty straight forward swapping the PSU, plenty of guides online. We can send you ours if you email [email protected]
These boards have 2 M.2 slots and CPU wise, the 7800X3d is one of the best chips for gaming. Both are great chips, really a matter of preference.

    Cheers

  • Hi, when will this deal expire?

    • No real time specified at this stage.

  • Hi Luke,

Just wanted to check if you had any other cases that measured 450 x 300 x 350mm (or less) for the RTX 4080 Super set up? Wanted to make sure it can fit under my ikea trestle table legs.

    Thanks!

    • Assuming the last dimension 350mm is the length, I think that'll be a problem as the GPUs are about 330mm.

  • I notice the AIO coolers are the only options, is there no more air cooler?

    • +1

      Gremlin in website, resolved now

  • Hi there,

Ive emailed sales today about order #TF4887322901. Im hoping we can change the order to this 7800x3d deal.
The order hasnt shipped yet, hoping ive made it in time!
    Would greatly appreciate it!
