Jetstar sale includes the RETURN fare, so this Tiger sale is roughly double the price.
    …now that's cheeky!

    • +9

      Hardly..
      Jestar Bris-Syd $89
      Tiger Bris-Syd $35 each way. = $70.

      Same with Melbourne and Adelaide

      • +2

        But Tiger is Tiger.

        • +3

Never had a single problem with Tiger! Sorry but i'll continue to use them until otherwise.

        • +2

even if they were $5 fares I wouldn't touch them

After the first 2 bad experiences I thought enough is enough. 3rd time vouched never ever again!

      • +2

        Sorry, didn't check all states,
…just the one I booked (Melb - Hobart $39 return) on Jetstar yesterday.
        I stand cheekily corrected.

        • Haha all good. I'm sure there are some better with jetstar :)

    • MEL-PER
      Jetstar $179
Tiger $178 (2*$89, or if you picked up a $49 one-way in the last month: $138 return).

  • +1

+1 > Departing Melbourne to Hobart Flights for $35 using Mastercard Debit Card. $43 using CC.

Mix things up and get a return on the Spirit of Tasmania from Davenport for ~$86 One way https://www.spiritoftasmania.com.au/sailing-fares/specials/s…

  • Well this is interesting, can we pricematch this with Jetstar? :O

    • +2

If you're quick enough, yup!. But it'll be for both ways, you won't be able to take advantage of the 'return free' sale too.

      • +1

but as someone has already pointed out above, the tigersale is already cheaper than Jetstars return free sale.

        • +2

Ohhh sorry, i read your comment wrong. Tiger won't pricematch but jetstar will pricematch AND do 10% less with no CC fees, just has to fit the conditions.

    • +1

You have to book it as 2 1 way flights to price match as the $0 return makes it eligible, apparently.
Seemed pedantic and took twice as long but saved 10% & the CC fees so yay!

  • +4

Damn, just booked with JetStar PER to Bali for $159 and this works out to be $1 cheaper! And better flight timing and more flexible date range!!!

I failed miserably as an Ozbargainer!!!!!

    • If you pricebeat I think is 10% off $158 = $142.20 and you get to use CC to collect points with no surcharge.. yes/no?

      • Not really in my Case.. JetStar only does price beat to similar flights within 1 hour departing time.

        • +1

That is for domestic flights. For international flights, Jetstar will be the cheaper fare on the same calendar day.

        • +1

@tendliya: Yep, same day price match for international and no credit card fees.

        • @tunzafun001:

Thanks for the info. I can still contact JetStar on pricebeat for my already booked flight however?

        • @claud0902: Doubt it. Bound by fare rules if it's booked, I reckon.

  • So, who issues mastercard debit cards with no fees attached?
I will have to get one….

    • +1

      CBA

    • +1

I went with MEBank when they had their 5% cashback for paywave, and have stuck with them since.

Mastercard debit card and pretty good all-round. Uses St George/Westpac ATMs. Also their online savings account (with the bonus interest) is the highest interest online savings account available at the moment

    • book via the mobile app.

    • +1

Quickest way is to go to Woolies or Coles or the post office to get a prepaid mastercard.

      • which has its own fees attached. my bank doesn't charge me any

    • +2

Qantas debit card can be charged online and used straight away……a tiny fee (I forget %) but certainly I recall that I did this for a Tiger booking and it was a lot less than Tiger's cc fees.

      • It is 1%, but you need to get the money from another debit card, not a credit card or normal transfer.

  • Travel periods seem almost identical to Jetstar's sale.

    • +1

Just missing school holidays of course..

  • Does tiger not do PER<—>BNE?

    • Nope. And nor does Jetstar. But Jetstar does fly PER to Gold Coast which is about an hour's drive to Brisbane up the M1.

  • Tigerair AKA Virgin

  • Can SYD-CNS get any cheaper? Planning to go there in Nov.

    • Yes. I paid 30 each way a few months ago. But that was a steal. There may have been One Direction not matchable with any Jetstar flights from memory, maybe not.

      • Ok thanks. Will hold on a little more :)

      • +2

        One Direction for $30 would be a steal… if you're a teenage girl ;)

  • Sorry but is it ok if I want it now?

  • Mel Hba return for 2 adults and 2 kids 29th oct and return 1st Nov still not finding those low prices. How do i?

  • Roar Deal!

  • damn, bought the jetstar flights last night :(

  • Wow, Tiger's on the ball. Great deals, though PSA to people bemoaning that they bought Jetstar yesterday: depending on the days of the week you need to fly, Jetstar can still work out cheaper (as in my case where I want to fly down on a Saturday morning and home on a Monday).

    • +3

I like Jetstar for the return leg to Sydney. Their frequent engineering problems give me luxury accommodation for a night instead of the usual dorms I frequent.

      • so ironic… Flight to Melbourne still flies even arriving late at night due to delay. As Sydney airport closes at night, they just cancel it.

  • Got some $45 ADL-SYD flights… for $62.50 o_O
