So not because you're an evil genius who's surmised out that toddler driven generators are a source of cheap renewable energy so long as you keep them clod in quality footwear?

        • +3

or to resell at a profit at your own store, David?

        • +1

          Haha,……lol.

        • He only has to copy past from his Op so he will be right. Haha ;)
          Great find

  • I bought a pair NB Zante a few months ago, really like them except the soles wear down really quick. Maybe there are models that are designed to wear down slower to suit a wider range of surfaces?

    • My NB 880v3 did the same, very comfy and excellent grip on pavement but wore down very fast.

    • It's done this way so that you need to buy new sneakers each year.
They definitely don't want to give you years worth of sole life.
Same as tyres only you cant really rotate runners :)

      • I wouldn't mind if they didn't wear down so much just after a couple of months! It stopped me looking at them, but maybe it's the same regardless of brand?

        • It's not so much brand but more so about specific models, as my NB 690's sole has hardly worn down at all. Have noticed this with other brands also, some models have softer soles while other models are more durable and last a lot longer.

        • @adr8: Searching for "690" on NB's website, I could only come up with kids shoes!

What type of shoes are yours, tennis, x-training, running etc?

        • +1

@quarrymaster: My bad MB 590 v2 are the ones they are an old model and couldn't find it on their website but did find them on this Spanish website lol http://www.atletas.info/new-balance-m590-v2-para-entrenar-y-…

        • @adr8: No worries. ;)

          I'll check them out.

    Look like 7.5% cashrewards too
    http://www.cashrewards.com.au/rebel-sport

I got a pair of the black $65 cross trainers (MX624ab v4) which I just use for walking.
I do ~70km/week in them, they're very comfy (being wide) and have hardly worn in 6mths.

    • How the hell do you walk 70K's a week?

      • +14

        1km at a time.

      • +4

But seriously, thats a half hour walk twice a day. Maybe dude walks to work.

      • I probably walk double that.

      • +6

        dunno who neg'd ya.
2 return trips to drop/pickup kids is ~10km,
        ~5km return to railway.
        That's 15km a day I do 4 days/week. I do 5-10kms on the other days.
I live in Melbourne, it's not like it's hot or there's hills :-)

A doc once told me I can drink a beer for every KM I walked. I like beer. Dan is only 2 beers away :-)

        • you poor thing!

        • So your kids walk 2.5 kms with you???
Getting it in store is cheaper as shipping is high to get the cashrewards.

      • +1

Just my weightloss routine in the last 6 month ;-)

        5 weekdays x 9.5km walk/jogging (5.30am-7.00am)
        2 weekends x 15km walk/jogging
        = 77.5 km

And yeah, 624v3 were great for both walk and jogging

    • I measured my feet at the Athlete's Foot and it comes out as 2E. Do you think 4E would be too wide for me?

      • Dont worry… I went down and tried it myself. 4E is a lot more comfortable apparently. And found out that I need to buy 1 size down than the size I normally wear. Lucky I didn't buy online as I otherwise wouldn't have known.

Been eyeing for some work shoes but not willing to pay more than $100. This fits the bill so perfectly. Thanks OP!

        • 1 size down? I've bought half a size up for New Balance before. ie. Normally US11 bought US11.5 EDIT! Hope I didn't confuse anyone. Just checked, I did not buy a half size up, bought US 11 which is the equivalent of a UK 10.5 when normally it is a UK 10, so yes buying a half size down may pay off.

    • Cashrewards never paid up although it tracked and has been six months, with follow up email enquiries too. Bought from last nights rebel deal but didn't bother with CR.

      • Andrew here from Cashrewards. We do pay on all valid transactions, sometimes however stores can be slow to process approvals however we now have procedures in place to speed this up considerably. Please PM me your CR user/email and Ill get you paid straight away. Sorry for the hassle.

  • +2

Pity they don't have click & collect.

    • +5

yeah $15 freight for shoes isn't great.

      • I pay $12 for crappy shoes from K-mart.

They are extremely light and comfortable but the sole is like 1 use only. Interesting to hear New Balance soles may grind down faster now.

  • +2

Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, they don't stock anything wider than a D width for women, wide feet are a curse if you are a lady!

    • How do you find shoes? I've all but given up!

    • +1

It's a curse simply that most shoes do not even resemble the shape of any ordinary foot. Just look at the tip curving in, pushing the big toe inwards. Doesn't matter how broad a foot is, its the shoe that doesn't fit, not the foot.
Some sketchers are very broad. Notably Nike free, and the flyknit version are particularly broad, and moreover accommodate for the big toes being straight and comfortable.

    • Same for men. The curse is less severe but wide footed men normally only get to wear a handful of name brands, which then only allocate the ugliest designs.

K-mart (men's) shoes by default accommodate wider feet so you don't have the edge of the sole grinding your feet or that painful compression. They're not at all suitable for gravel surfaces though and you'd spend the same money in a year if you run on rough surfaces often.

geez i bought my Magistax last week for $150, now it's $120

    • +1

Buy exactly the same pair for $120 from store, then return the pair with the $150 receipt.

      • +1

Ugh just checked I bought it on 9/5 and has to be refunded within 14 days. Missed out by 2 days.

        Good tip tho, thanks

        • I don't think Rebel has 14 days return restriction. Of course, should return in resonable timeframe.

I once returned a pair of protective gear, not used, within one month.

  • I must be blind, but can someone show me where I can find football boots?

  • Very limited in sizes and widths

  • Awesome, NB Zantes v2 for 95$ shipped. 160-170 everywhere else. Cheers.

    • How do you know it's v2. Doesn't say in the description.

      • Tried them on in store (v2s) when it was 30% off everything NB but they didn't have my size anywhere close. The website looks like v2. Let's see when they arrive. Couldn't be worse for my shins / knees than nike frees

      • Photo is v2. Will see when arrive :-)

        • ok, arrived. v2 in D width, exactly what I was looking for :-)

      • I've been thinking ozbargain needs to have a like button. Great price hope they're as good as the reviews.

  • Does this apply to Amart? our local Rebel got rebranded as Amart.

  • +1

So who's planning to wear these at a public park with no obvious destination?

    • +5

My Mum says that I look very handsome in them!

  • Many thanks op for posting. Mrs ended up buying 2 pairs. Cheers mate

  • +1

Seriously, $24.95 delivery to North Coast NSW?

  • Many thanks op for posting. Mrs ended up buying 2 pairs. Cheers mate

  • This is actually a really good sale, but unfortunately I couldn't find any left available in a US-16 or 4E 15 :(

Thanks for the effort though, OP. Much appreciated.

  • Thanks op, got 2 pairs of 4e shoes for $150 minus potential $10 cashback

  • Greart deal. I need one, thank you!

  • For whoever's interested. Rebel Sports in Myaree also had Brooks shoes discounted by 30%. This includes the Beast which is basically your goto shoe for people with severe pronation problems. It's not discounted very often. I don't know if this is nationwide.

    • Black Dyad was also discounted.

  • Scored a pair of my regular 624s that I use for tennis. Claremont Quarter Rebel has no indication of reduced prices on the shelves, but scans at half-price.

  • Might have a look at these, been looking into restocking my shoe collection. If I knew about this I wouldn't have been quick to purchase the Nike shoes in the previous deal!

  • All New Balance shoes (many pairs) I have bought in the last two to three years have quickly (within six months) delaminated with soles coming away. Also the paint bubbles away from the reconstituted leather. I used to only buy New Balance, they are definitely comfy and supportive but can't justify the poor build and replacement factor. Now I mostly buy Ecco which are way more expensive but last for years…

  • Cheap, yes, but transparent and trustworthy? No: https://www.choice.com.au/health-and-body/diet-and-fitness/s…

  • Thx OP! Just bought the New Balance 590 for $50 at West Lakes (SA).
Good running shoes with a great grip.
