My very first OZBargain post.
Found it on the catalogue this week, saying would be $20 raise for each after the promotion.
I have been looking at this sort of gadgets, and bought a PhotoFast CR-8800 TF (Micro SD) card lightning reader (not so good worthy $63), so I am still looking. Haven't grabbed mine C20i yet, but will. And hoping this would be much better than the plastic CR-8800.
You would find the Lexar lightning gadget is almost identical with PhotoFast; and yes they are good friends.
Quite not bad price for this one in AU.

  • Could not find this online? Is it national wide?

    • I suppose its online hasn't update yet (?).
      I think its national wide, as the junk mail didn't mention otherwise.

  • Great find.
    Going to get one at my local Big W.

    • Great finding. Thanks.

  • how do these things work, do you need an app?
    Can you actually play video directly from them? or is it primarily just a way to copy stuff on/off the ipad?

      Needs app. Can play videos from within app

      • cheers for that

      Good questions.
      Yes you do need an app.
      https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lexar-mobile-manager/id91176…

      Playing video from it is possible.
      Take example of my CR-8800, reading TF card (Sandisk Ultra Class10) from my dash cam;
      Footage of 1080P playback did not work so well, bad image.
      720P playback was good, no issue so far.
      (not sure if the bottleneck was lightning interface speedband or not)

      Copy stuff on/off the iPad/iPhone, yes;
      And to be exact, photos & videos of the Photos app on your iPad/iPhone, and contacts & calendars (I haven't tried).

      • awesome - thanks!

    Two main concerns according to this review:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbv4-ppbXUI

    1. Unable to play back DRM protected video or music.
    2. Have to reformat in order to copy 4GB above size file, and to be recognized by both MAC and PC.
    • Love Leon. Good reviews.

    Just want to mention this point, that may help it to stand out:
    It can charge your device while plugged and using.
    That means you could backup photos/videos while charging, which is normally a good time that you have to put it down (LOL).

    And honestly how good this kind of thing, is really relying on the app.

    Amazon has some comments that might be helpful to tell you if this is for you.
